.243 in a AR15 – Varmint Grenade- 6mm-223 Remington / 6×45 AR15

The 6-223 Remington is a wild cat capable of take the 223 into a heavy hitter. Being able to shoot up to a 100 grain bullet in a AR15 16inch barrel makes this a heavy hitter in a smaller cartridge.
The 6mm bullet family offers many projectiles and many in the higher BC category. VLD bullet profiles may not work due to the magazine OAL limits

  4. Full.Lead.Taco on August 20, 2022 at 7:56 pm

good to see you having fun with the barrel. Seems like there is quite a bit of power with that varmint load.

  5. ocean374 on August 20, 2022 at 7:58 pm

Thatโ€™s awesome that little round is deadly still at 500 yards

  6. Gary Carroll on August 20, 2022 at 8:02 pm

Apologies for the late comments, I just found you.
I’ve been shooting the 6×45 for several years now, I call it my 500yd plinking gun.
I guess you could call it a wildcat because there’s no commercial ammo available for it but it is SAAMI registered and most reloading guides have multiple loads listed for it.
I’ve splashed the backstop at 1000 but haven’t got it on target yet. As soon as I shoot all my ammo up I’ll probably swap to the 6mm ARC.
Great video production and shooting tips!!!

What muzzle brake are you running for that .243?

  8. Leverguns 50 on August 20, 2022 at 8:03 pm

  12. Willie Bulletman on August 20, 2022 at 8:11 pm

That is some good shooting my friend . Dang it could you Imagine what it would do to a varmint if itโ€™s doing that to the kennel up at 500 yards wow Iโ€™ll be one dead coyote another great video plus I bet FLT is regretting getting rid of that barrelp

  13. Rick Lander on August 20, 2022 at 8:12 pm

    Awesome as usual Kenny!

  14. My account on August 20, 2022 at 8:12 pm

Cool, but I would rather match a 243/6mm bullet to a necked down 6.5 Grendel case so you can fit 107 grain pills in AR15 mag. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  15. Preacher's Day Off on August 20, 2022 at 8:15 pm

That’s impressive Kenny! Great video, rifle, and shooting.

  16. TheCheapShot on August 20, 2022 at 8:15 pm

I’m thinking about doing this with my AR-15 once all my 223 ammo has been shot. I am a hand loader so that’s not a problem. Is there more to it than just ordering a 6mm barrel?

  17. Awesome Rene on August 20, 2022 at 8:15 pm

Dam now I have to go buy a 6mm barrel lol awesome video

  18. MalumInSe on August 20, 2022 at 8:16 pm

at this point, is there benefit to this over the 25-45?

  19. Mark Vickers on August 20, 2022 at 8:21 pm

6×45 is a deer/pig slaying machine. 85gr Sierra gameking. It kills way better than it looks like it could do.

  20. Mike Simpson on August 20, 2022 at 8:23 pm

    Pretty cool

  21. eyeofjake on August 20, 2022 at 8:24 pm

I have a 20 inch version of this rifle. My pet load is a hornady 87 grainn vmax with 25.4 grains of benchmark. Gives me a wicked velocity of 2750 with an SD of 13.

  22. Scott F. on August 20, 2022 at 8:26 pm

  23. hunttomuch wolfe on August 20, 2022 at 8:26 pm

My 6×45 has a 20 inch barrel and it shoot everything great I love the 85 Sierra gk bthp 70gr nosler and 95gr sst at 2.33 col just cut the front of the mag and it lets you run it in the AR easy

  24. Nick J on August 20, 2022 at 8:26 pm

It’s nice getting a whole new rifle by just getting an upper. Love the Ar system !!

  25. WV Long Shooter on August 20, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Thanks for an awesome and informative video! I’m running 95 gr. vld bergers, 22" Bartlein sendaro contour, Rem.700 action in 6-223 rem. at 2.500" coal. I’m getting 2917 fps ave. Mv’s w/o any pressure issues with 26.7 grs. of H-Benchmark, cci 450’s, and Lapua brass. This barrel has been chambered for this bullet and it’s very accurate and at an coal of 2.500" I have a little extra room for more powder in the case .Also, 2.500 coal fit in MDT mags. I just purchased some 58 gr. v-max bullets and I’m excited to try them out. I’m wondering what speed I’m going to run them at, looking at data as we speak . Thanks again for a great video..

  29. WTF SoCal on August 20, 2022 at 8:39 pm

    NICE !!!

  30. Lead Bullet Junkie on August 20, 2022 at 8:40 pm

awesome video! I would love to see some videos on lead bullets for this and I know you did some 22 cal lead bullets out of your 223 but it would be awesome to get an update on those because I’ve been struggling to get my 62 grain bullets to stabilize. Been thinking about getting a plane base gas check maker

  31. Vanessa Kitty on August 20, 2022 at 8:42 pm

    Nicely done. TY

  32. Kevin Howard-Tripp on August 20, 2022 at 8:42 pm

  33. Georgiaboy44 on August 20, 2022 at 8:44 pm

That was impressive at 500. Try the Speer 100 grain SP . The Preacher loves them in his 243 and they hit hard. Plus theyโ€™re cheap lol๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป. Great vid Kenny๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  38. Dwayne Morton on August 20, 2022 at 8:49 pm

I had several questions about this wildcat cartridge and you answered them. There aren’t that many videos on the 6X223, thank you for covering it.

  39. James Pollard on August 20, 2022 at 8:49 pm

Hope to you you try some heavier jacket and cast loads in that caliber . The heavier cast bullets are on the way to you .
