338 Federal! Savage 110 Long Range Hunter

338 Federal! Savage 110 Long Range Hunter

The underrated, unappreciated 338 Federal in Savage 110 Long Range Hunter With 26 inch barrel and adjustable muzzle brake. Shoots a 200 grain bullet as fast as a 308 Winchester shoots a 165 grain bullet but out of the same 308 case necked up to .338 cal!

Congrats!! I’ve been looking and couldn’t find anyone currently chambering the 338 Federal. Hmmm. I’ll have another look I guess.

I have one in 7mm rem mag but one of my favorite deer caliber hunting in thick Virginia woods is 338 federal. Mine is DPMS AR10 and it shoots under 1MOA at any given day and drops deer on the spot and you can see it on my channel. Thanks for sharing n God bless. Subscribed and thumbs up.

Love my Savage model 11 LRH in 338 Federal, very accurate with 185gr Barnes TTSX with X-Terminator and midway over run 185gr bullets with Varget. Have some 5 shot groups in the .2-.3” (.272,.285”) at 100 yards. It’s an awesome cartridge.

I envy you. I wanted one of those rifles in the federal. I reload my two federals with the same Barnes round and get around .65 to .85 at 100 yards in my bear hunter. I use them on deer and hogs. It terminates hogs and makes up for less than perfect shots on deer. Enjoy that rifle! By chance, where did you get it? I have a Hog hunter with 20 inch barrel and a Bear hunter with a 21 inch barrel. My bear hunter is my go to gun!

Very cool. Didn’t know this combo existed. 338Fed out to be good on hogs.

I handload mine I get the 160 Barnes ttsx and h322 at max charge going 3050fps out of a 20” savage hog hunter. It’s devastating on deer

Nice rifle, I have one like that chambered in 308. Do you know how to remove the muzzle brake, cause I can’t take mine off.

What’s the twist rate on your barrel?
