7mm-08 Bullet Drop – Demonstrated and Explained
That 7mm-08 is a great round!
Whoo Tee, what’s the recoil like compared to a .270??
Your kids are going to kill you when they find out you are using there markers 😂
7mm-08 ammo is a unicorn right now
Every time I shoot at a Bigfoot with one I can never find it. They have I will to live ..tough creatures.
I’d like to see the 7mm-08 vs 308 water jug test. Couldn’t find it in the play list when I searched it. I’m gonna buy a 7mm-08 here soon.
Can you do .308 drop
What happent to your penny? Circle is not perfect😂😂😂
What you going to use for deer rifle season this year wtw?
I watched your video on 7-08 when I was doing research into different rounds, I ended up buying a savage axis in 7-08. Sighted it in to 100, when I bought it, it was shooting literally feet out. Sighted it a couple days ago and shot a buck yesterday one shot at 418 yards, first time I hunted with the rifle or caliber and I admit it performed amazing. Buck didn’t take one step 👌🏽 I recommend this caliber for deer!
7mm08 has less felt recoil than .243 to my wife. She prefers her 7mm08 Savage with 139 grain Hornady Interlock bullets over a near max load of H4350. That is where her Savage gets the best accuracy with acceptable recoil for her. I have found that WLR primers work best in her rifle. CCI comes very close. Everything else opens the groups up. Not sure why, but I just go with what works. She has never shot anything over 200 yards. Her scope is set at 1 inch high at 100 yards. She aims for the heart on everything, and it hits where she wants. She has a .30-06 that is a true 1/2 inch at 100 yards rifle with Remington Core-Lokt. It kicks too much for her liking. Her 7mm08 is a 3/4 inch on its good days rifle. 1 inch on bad days. 3/4 to 1 inch groups work perfect for her. No wild pig is safe when she decides she wants more sausage.
I love the 7mm-08 but I also live by the greed that if I had to hunt with I gun I would kill myself I am 70 and been a bow hunter all my life if I ever had to use an ATV or Hunt with a gun gun I will kill myself I hunt deer, Ducks, Rabbits, Squrel, Game birds ect with a bow sissys hunt with a gun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, early on I hunted with 2 brothers from the generation prior who influenced me a lot. One built and shot a custom 250-3000 Sav. The other, a 7mm Mauser. Both pretty darn cool deer calibers I felt. But I’m partial to bigger bullets, and a gun dealer I knew built a 7-08 on a cheap looking, Japan made model 70. And with a Douglas barrel, it was a shooter indeed. Of course, way back then, 70’s I reckon, there was no factory ammo for a 7-08. That gun was a great deer rifle and I’ve built 2 since then and it’s all I’ve used for many years now. I’ve always shot federal 140’s, since I stopped reloading, because they shoot and kill so darn well. I don’t know how many deer I’ve killed with my 7-08’s, but lots. This year I’m shooting 120 grain nosler bt’s because I couldn’t find the federal 140’s, and the 120 grain Nosler’s shot just as well. I always thought what a 243 was lacking was just a little more bullet weight. The box says they’ll do 3000 fps and everybody knows ‘speed kills,’ so we’ll see, stay tuned and happy day to one and all 😊.
Great vid!!! Have you ever shot something that did not perform good on a animal?
Not bad.
I’ve killed 6 deer with mine in the last two years with 139 gr sst hand loads and love it .but I’m like you I’ve got a bunch of different calibers I have and really like .
Please get a 300savage for review I have one and have never seen any kind of review video on the caliber because it’s so hard to come bu
Great video thanks
I just cant get over the fact that the 7mm-08 has metric system and inches in the same name. No matter how good it is, I still think some dude sat back and thought it a good idea to mix the two systems in a name. Either cal it a .280 – 08 or 7mmx51 or even better 7mm Remington. 280 remington is the one based on the 30-06 cartridge
7mm-08 is my favorite round.
Thank you buddy. For videos like these, I’m putting you somewhere between Hickok45 and Paul Harrell. I love these for being entertaining and useful.

Great video! I have been following the 7-08 for a while, thinking about my next AR10 in this cartridge. When are we going to get that 1000yd video!
Eagerly awaiting your 300 wsm bullet drop! Great work yet again
It dropped a bit less at 200 yards than I thought it would.
Good stuff, keep them coming 👍
I just love listening to grand pa singing🥂😊👍
We got to try a 50 yard sight in, and see how it goes at 100 yards
Whoo not too shabey👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sight in at 200yds. Dead on at 40yds or so. 1.75" high at 100. 9 inches low at 300. Just shoot for center lung until 250, then hold high hair out to 3. Dead deer every time that you do your part. Simple, no dope card, just venison in the freezer.
Nice, thank you sir now I need to get out there, right now hard to find the time.
Hey Adam! I run 140s in my 7mm08 at around 3,000 fps, Ruger American. Shoots them very well. I sightin out here where I live, 3 inches high at 100. I do that with everything running at 2600 or better. Just works out well for the kind of hunting and shooting I get into out here.
Honestly, I got rid of my 25-06 after I found out what a great cartridge the 7mm08 is and what it will do! Haven’t missed it.
I wonder how much an 18" barrel would affect these drops? Yes, that’s what I’m building 🙂
Interesting video, I was surprised how flat it shoots. Just got one for my wife, she shys away from recoil!
Very interesting video, ballistics studies are fun. Have you tried a +2.5 @ 100 yard zero? This gives the 140gr 7mm-08 (and most any centerfire round with a similar ballistic coefficient and velocity) a point-blank zero out to about 320 yards. What this means is that the bullet is within +/-3” line of sight out to about 320 yards. Same principle as a battlesight zero on an M-16, M-14, etc. A .30-30 or similar cartridge would be well suited to a 100 yard zero.
Killd it grave yard dead. Great shot buddy
I’ve not shot this round but am interested. I appreciate all these drop videos.
Horrible groups
Where would your point of aim be at say 10-20 yards
YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO SIGHTING IN FOR THE MAXIMUM POINT BLANK RANGE .
308 bullet drop please!!!!
The MV on the box is probably measured with a 24" barrel. Your MV is likely a bit lower with a 22" barrel, thus accounting for the additional drop that you had.
I enjoy my 7mm08. Always works well on deer. 140 grain Fusion ammo is my. Favorite.
I have a zero of 250 yards on 7mm-08 to take advantage of its flat bullet travel. It has consistently puts 5 shoots in an inch group at that range.
I’m zeroed at 100 as well, if there’s a deer at 50 you don’t need to holdover just aim where you normally do and the deer falls over dead
Awesome video brother!! Can you do one on 308? Thanks buddy
Them Norma rounds shot sub moa out of my 30/06 and my buddys 243 best rounds I shot yet better than the expensive ones all day
Great video and a great caliber! In my early hunting years I thought it wasn’t dead unless it wasn’t shot with a 300 win lol. I’ve never had a deer live to complain about the 7mm-08😉
Let’s go Brandon!
The drop at 200 yards is darned close to .308 (6”). I like 7mm-08. Already have .308. It does fine and easy to find anywhere. If a store has any ammo, chances are .308 will be there. I got one in 6.5 CM because of its accuracy and minimal recoil and sourcing it has been more problematic. The performance of 6.5 is similar enough to 7mm-08 although maybe a little less stout, but certainly effective on whitetails. Anyway, I find myself practicing a lot with .308. Most of my rifle shooting is with this cartridge.
I can ring an 8” plate at 300 yards all day long with .308. That’s further than I’ve had to shoot any whitetail or pig I’ve had to shoot. I have no reason to upgrade to something flatter shooting or more powerful as of yet. If I ever spend time in brown bear country, I prob will. I don’t hunt moose, but did have to run from one once… I had a .45 on me, but I ran anyway.
