I once had….(should have never sold it)…a Browning 81BLR in 7mm08. I did like you are doing and tried a number of manufacturers. Best groups…moa or less……were with Federal Premium 130 grain Nosler Ballistic tip. I was also a bit surprised how accurate that rifle was, being a lever action…..but it shot as well as the best of my bolt actions do.

  3. David settle on May 4, 2023 at 3:41 am

What’s the best twist rate for the 7mm08

  4. Michigan Silverback on May 4, 2023 at 3:42 am

I have always said the 7mmo8 wouldve made a great round for the military in an AR10 style rifle..

  5. Different Fins on May 4, 2023 at 3:43 am

It would be interesting to see if other rifles chambered in 7mm-08 do better with the Hornadys or if the results are similar. I have a Tikka T3 lite in 7mm-08. I should try a few different brands and bullet weights to see if it likes heavier or lighter bullets.

  6. Cooper Dove on May 4, 2023 at 3:43 am

    Please do 25.06

  7. Burke Jones on May 4, 2023 at 3:46 am

My Savage loves those Core Lokt bullets, too.

  8. Bob Parvin on May 4, 2023 at 3:46 am

The good old 308 is more accurate than the 7-08

  9. craig noe on May 4, 2023 at 3:48 am

My Bergara loves the Hornady load but they are significantly hotter than anything tested in the video. Your rifle may enjoy the Hornady 139 custom loading or the Hornady American hunter series.

    Thanks!

That butterfly was cold blooded. Didn’t even flinch

  12. Don Thursby on May 4, 2023 at 3:52 am

Oh my, where did you find all that 7-08 ammo at? Around here one is lucky to find a box of PPU. 🙁 Seems like if I want good 7-08 hunting ammo, I gotta make it myself. Wish you had some of that blue tip stuff to try. 😉 Thanks for the vid.

  13. Curtis Martin on May 4, 2023 at 3:52 am

I would like to see a comparison of the 260 rem v 243win. C Martin thanks

  14. Sir Jhonson on May 4, 2023 at 3:56 am

I would go with the 30/06 or 300 win. mag . I like the 300 win. mag . the best .

  15. Shane on May 4, 2023 at 3:57 am

I sighted mine in with Hornady Lite and Norma Whitetail (all that I could find at the time). Both were sub 1" @ 120 yds.

  16. HockeyTown Luv on May 4, 2023 at 3:58 am

But it’s not 6.5 suckmoor. How can it be any good? 😂

  17. D C on May 4, 2023 at 4:01 am

I love my left-handed Remington 700 in 7mm-08!!! She loves the Remington Core-Lokt 140s. The 7mm-08 is an underrated cartridge, but it is amazing!!!

  18. Gary Wemmer on May 4, 2023 at 4:03 am

Whatever happened to the 7 mm Mauser? It set the standard for the .28 caliber. There are those that will stick with the 175s, but the prevailing winds, indicate 140s, or so.
It is all you’ll need, for practically everything on the planet, using the proper bullet. Speed is for those that think they need it.
    Proper rifle, proper bullet .
It WILL take care of ALL your needs.

  19. Joe Lowery on May 4, 2023 at 4:06 am

Strangely, my 7mm08 doesn’t like the 139 Hornady bullets either but, does well with the 154 grain.

  20. Randy Johnson on May 4, 2023 at 4:06 am

Who tee..when you want to go down 6 clicks don’t do it…go down 12 clicks and up 6 clicks..it almost always does better

  21. Todd Miller on May 4, 2023 at 4:06 am

I spent today shooting my 7mm08. Hornady SST an cx mine does the same. Fiochi sst same crap. Hsm 140 am 150gr all touch. Core lokt touching. Hornady American whitetail 139gr touching. Best I can figure Ruger American is built to shoot the cheaper ammo.. or 2800fps or less.. have 3006 American same way. That is with a Burris eliminator 4 scope..

  22. William Creighton on May 4, 2023 at 4:06 am

    Thanks!

  23. Michael Hull on May 4, 2023 at 4:08 am

I just bought one looking forward to it love my .270’s and 7mm mag but I couldn’t get this caliber outta my head so hell I bought one P.S. the Hornaday GMX was a copper bullet just sayin

  24. Ken Cleg on May 4, 2023 at 4:09 am

Off a wobbly rest I bag the front squeeze the rear bulls bag the barrel Helps

  25. T J Miller on May 4, 2023 at 4:10 am

7×57 Mauser long history in hunting big game.

  26. Third Blackie Boy on May 4, 2023 at 4:10 am

    My favorite cartridge ❤️

I picked up a Tikka T3 Hunter last year and hit the range with three different types of factory ammo:

Winchester Ballistic silvertips 140 grain.. .55 inches at 100 yards

    Norma Whitetail 150 grain… .67 inches at 100 yards

Hornady whitetail 139 grain.. 1.37 inches at 100 yards

I actually went the Norma Whitetail due to it being available.. the Winchester Ballistic silvertips were from old stock.. 2005.. still had the price tag $21.95

    Love your videos brother

  27. DANIEL C. on May 4, 2023 at 4:11 am

I just shot some Norma Whitetail in my 270 this morning and they were pretty dang good. They are making some good affordable ammo.

  28. Steven Dowell on May 4, 2023 at 4:12 am

That high shoulder shot is a
    DRT
Definitely one of my favorite calibers
    Thanks for the video

  29. Pat Masters on May 4, 2023 at 4:12 am

2506 in mossberg 4×4 120 rem corlock great combo ! Minnesota whitetails down 😉

  30. John Norman on May 4, 2023 at 4:14 am

7mm-08 does anything the old 7×57 Mauser ever did. And that old 7×57 was an absolute gem. When used in a modern rifle with modern handloads the 7×57 could really walk the dog. The 7mm-08 has been walking the dog in factory form since Remington put it out the door.

  31. Simone Stella on May 4, 2023 at 4:17 am

The one box of ammo that you were missing is also the best one. The Barnes 120 gr. TTSX. My x-bolt shoots quarter inch groups with that round. Also, you shouldn’t have your hand on top of the barrel while you’re shooting.

  32. Steve Thurmond on May 4, 2023 at 4:18 am

I have been giving serious consideration to the 7mm-08 as my new deer rifle. My furthest shots would be 300 yds and my avg shot being 50 yds. Which cal is your favorite?

  33. Ken Cleg on May 4, 2023 at 4:19 am

    My gun don’t like fusion

  34. cornbread burgess on May 4, 2023 at 4:21 am

Thanks for the video brother we enjoyed it .

  35. Daniel Hamilton on May 4, 2023 at 4:21 am

Just out of curiosity what do you think of those wheeler rings?

  36. Daniel Avery on May 4, 2023 at 4:22 am

Man I run those norma whitetail in my 270 and they are awesome. Keep up all the great videos!

  37. Brian Ford on May 4, 2023 at 4:22 am

I’ve gone to 120 grain nosler b tip with mine. I’m loading the rounds of course but major improvement over any factory round I tried and flat fast and major deer droppers.

  38. bearclaw bill on May 4, 2023 at 4:24 am

i have a new gun and cant find any ammo at all…my wife bought a box of 160-s with gun… i wont shoot them…

  39. bill thomas on May 4, 2023 at 4:25 am

to compare equally. Not only should you have let the barrel cool. You should have cleaned it so the fouling was the same.

  40. Anthony Fairbanks on May 4, 2023 at 4:25 am

Yeah my ruger American loves the norma white tail 3 in the same whole

  41. Sean Wright on May 4, 2023 at 4:28 am

I really need to get me a bolt action, I don’t have one yet. I’ve been thinking .308.

  42. Raymond Johnson on May 4, 2023 at 4:29 am

Something wrong with the scope mount or the rifle I know he is a good shot. Just not grouping good.

  43. Heath Adams on May 4, 2023 at 4:30 am

This doesn’t surprise me that the two Hornady loads did poorly. All is my Rugers absolutely hate Superformance loads, but will hammer Black, Match, and Precision Hunter. I think it’s just the Superformance loads are just too hot for most Ruger rifles.

  44. Ken Cleg on May 4, 2023 at 4:30 am

    Federal s always hot

  45. Meng Xiong on May 4, 2023 at 4:30 am

My 7mm-08 do better group with 140 grain ballistic tip at 100 yards and get my limit on deer by Saturday evening on gun opener..

  46. eduardo corona on May 4, 2023 at 4:32 am

That gets a double good one!

  47. Robert Richards on May 4, 2023 at 4:32 am

Try the Winchester Deer Season XP 140gr.

  48. Anthony Fairbanks on May 4, 2023 at 4:33 am

I just went trade my 6.5cm for a Ruger American 7mm-08

  49. ronald sloan on May 4, 2023 at 4:33 am

Believe it or not. My Savage Axis likes the Hornady American Whitetail 139 grain

  50. Richard Bruyere on May 4, 2023 at 4:33 am

Sure is interesting to see how some rifles like some ammo. Yours spread out the Hornady SSTs and GMXs. I have a 7mm08 Ruger Predator with a slightly heavier barrel and my first 3 shots with the 139 gr SSTs all went in the same hole. Go figure.
