A close look at the Marlin 39A in 22 long rifle.

This week we break down the Marlin Golden 39A and take it to the range. Very accurate shooting, smooth action, and classic good looks make this one fun rifle to play with. The 22 long rifle may be the most popular round in America and this Marlin lever action is a great way to spend the afternoon shooting it.

Well mine must be from 69 there’s a reason the screw is so big. It’s called multiplication of force just like you got on your steering wheel and I got it on my brake pedal. You don’t have to use a quarter at all unless maybe you’ve got arthritis or something you can completely do everything with just your fingers and what I do is give it a little pop with my palm right where it’s pushing the two pieces together the most and then go ahead and tighten but I just took mine and tightened my screw with a quarter and unscrewed it with my fingers no problem

Beautiful 39a. I have a 1952 model and it’s a lot of fun to shoot. I keep a quarter in my range bag in case I need to take it apart.

If you want to know the year of manufacture, deduct the first two numbers of the serial number from 100
