AR15 QD Latch Plate Comparision – Magpul – Spikes Tactical – Noveske – Daniel Defense
AR15 QD Latch Plate Comparision – Magpul – Spikes Tactical – Noveske – Daniel Defense
This video is a follow-up to a previous comparison video, but this time I have the new Magpul ASAP-QD and Spikes Tactical QD Latch Plate. I compare these to some of the previous reviewed latch plates (e.g. Daniel Defense, Noveske and Fortis). Also reviewed is the Magpul QD Paraclip adapter (for use with QD latch plates and paraclip type slings)
Although not reviewed, the Impact Weapon Components offer a sling plate very similar to the Spikes/Noveske at a reasonable price.
I’ve read some comments about the magpul "pin" (not sure if that’s the correct term) not locking into the receiver very well. Did you have any issues with it? I’m currently on my first build and I’m thinking of upgrading to the asap QD end plate. Thanks for your reviews.
When I did my build I wanted a good QD plate and found Black Window Armament’s NoMar QD plate. It gives me the option to use QD or clips/hooks. No I don’t work for them.
i could use a new latch plate ill take the magpul one
the magpul is thin hollow cast steel, not a chance it’s as anywhere close to as strong as the ones made from steel plate, I returned mine as soon as I realized it was cast steel, for an AXTS brand, which is exactly like the noveske, except black.
Great review! Just one question – if I installed the magpul qd end plate and then used the magpul ms3 qd sling, would I be able to fully close the magpul ctr butt stock? Would the stock be able to lock in the closed position without hitting the qd button?
non of these videos show if the stock can collapse fully
Nice video. Thanks, it answered a lot of my questions….. BUT one remains. Using this setup (Magpul plate and paraclip adapter attached to it) do you find that an MS3 paraclip sling hits the top of your fire control (grip) hand?? Thanks again.
I see your points. I also use an MS3 with the clips because it’s fast. I’m also using QD swivels as I’ve not yet bought the QD version of the Magpul sling. I will have to check out the new Magpul QD products when I can… Because of your reviews, I’m using the Noveske QD endplate and the Damage Industries/Spikes Tactical QD swivels (1 of each). I also built my AR’s using the barrel nut and castle nut wrenches based on your reviews.
I have one made by Impact Weapons Components that’s under $20. You should check it out
Great video review and really enjoyed it. Great valid points of interest, benefits, and overall functionality of each.
Seems the Daniel Defense has a thicker ring than the others (even the Magpul). Could be a problem with a "pistol" tube without a castle nut. That extra thickness might keep the pistol tube from properly seating over the buffer retainer.
I don’t understand the Magpul paraclip adapter. It defeats the entire purpose of QUICK disconnect.
Do you recommend the Magpul or IWC? What’s the difference?
I made the huge mistake of getting the magpul ms4 qdm ( the $70.00 one) and the new male ends on the sling are absolutely horrific ! I’m looking for an offset qd end plate to be able to even utilize the new push qd pins . Hope this makes since . Thanks in advance
Seems to me that the obvious choice is the Magpul qd plate. And I’m not one to stake but I do use lock tite.
I hate the Magpul QD plate and how it locks into the lower. That tiny lip just wobbles everywhere and I went with a different company.
Character In the video It’s great, I like it a lot $$
Magpul or Noveske? Which one do you prefer? Magpul is casted Noveske it plate steel. Mapul profile is bettter possibly? Help!
With the Paraclip adapter installed on the ASAP QD end plate are you able to collapse the stock all the way down on the first position ? Thanks, great video
Great review man, I just put the Noveske one on my Spikes pistol.
excellent review~ have you installed the magpul? i’m thinking of getting it to replace my gen 1 asap because i hate the damned thing. it was a hard install and it makes noises sliding around the hoop. i’m concerned that due to the extra raised area on the gen 2 that the qd attachment may come in interference with the stock?
great review
There’s a company called Radian Weapons that makes an aluminum endplate with the QD swivel cup being machined out of titanium. This would seem to address any potential concerns of the aluminum swivel cups being worn down over time. The plate is $25 from midway and I think I’ll be giving them a try on my current build. I have a Magpul ASAP and Fortis on others and haven’t had any issues with either. However, I have read some people say that the Magpul ASAP can interfere with certain stocks, preventing them from being fully collapsed, but in my state my stock has to be pinned/fixed so I haven’t seen this.
Good video, I was looking to compare these endplates and you saved me the time in looking up them all individually.
I enjoy your vids very informative thanks
Well done 👍 thank you.
weights would be nise
magpul is too thick and is molded …both make it hard to stake and is heavy. one positive the thickness keeps charge handle from dragging on castle nut and stock
Good review, but it is obvious that you are a magpul fanboy. Either way, good review.
