In this video, I compare the 5.56 (AR15) and the 5.45 (AK74) in ballistics gel. I started with FMJ rounds in this one but I will do more parts to this video in the future testing more rounds in gel and shooting other things as well. Let me know of any other comparisons you would like to see with the 5.56 and the 5.45 both with and without the ballistics gel.

The bullets I test in this video are the 60 gr Wolf Mil-Spec FMJ 5.45×39 and the 55 gr Federal XM193 FMJ 5.56×45. The AR15 I use is my BCM 14.5″ rifle and the AK74 I use is my Arsenal SLR 104-FR. The Ballistics gel blocks I use are Clear Ballistics 20% Ballistics Gel NATO blocks.

If you like this video please give it a thumbs up for me. Thank you!

    Fine work

AK 74 is the best gun all over the world.

  3. Colin on December 26, 2022 at 12:39 am

Why are AK sights so low profile? Does it make aiming difficult?

  4. Michael X on December 26, 2022 at 12:40 am

    Another great video.

  5. Mkvine on December 26, 2022 at 12:42 am

The 5.45 doesn’t rely as much on velocity than 5.56, is that correct?

  6. IrishSavage87 on December 26, 2022 at 12:44 am

The 545 over penetrated, the 5.56 did it job and according to FBI standards was successful.

  7. Tevo77777 on December 26, 2022 at 12:46 am

    Good video.

  8. Paige **** on December 26, 2022 at 12:47 am

so glad to see this, idk why peoples go to comparison is the 47, like why not compare the 74 with its much more modern round?

  9. chrisxdeboy on December 26, 2022 at 12:49 am

    4:08

    Is that a fly?

  10. TheLoneSiloGun TDM on December 26, 2022 at 12:50 am

5.56 Has more penetretion power and M4A1 is best and most powerful assault rifle, but AK74 also looks cool

  11. Joe Sinegal on December 26, 2022 at 12:53 am

The 5.45×39 Was Shot Higher In The Ballistics Gel Which Allowed The Block To Expand More! The 5.56×45 Was Shot Closer To The Bottom Of The Ballistics Gel Which Restricted The Block To Expand As Much Due To The Weight Of The Block Against The Table.

I’ve Seen Several Other Comparisons Where They Used Separate Ballistic Gel Blocks And Shot Rounds Dead Center In Each Block, And The Wound Channel Of The 5.56×45 Was Much Greater Than The 5.45×39.

They’re Both Effective Rounds And Are Excellent Choices For Self Defense Or SHTF Situations! Thanks For The Great Comparison Video! It Definitely Gives The Average Gun Owner A Better Perspective On How Their Particular Round Choice Performs. Thanks! ✌️🇺🇸✌️

Can you do 7.62×39 vs 308

  13. Mr Wayne on December 26, 2022 at 12:56 am

Id choose the 5.45 for certain scenarios

  14. Nicholas Roberts on December 26, 2022 at 12:57 am

The 7N6 was designed by the Soviets after they seen the horrific and devastating effects of the M193 being fired from 20" 1/14 twist and 1/12 twist M16s…using anything shorter than the 20" isn’t an equal comparison.

  15. jimmy james on December 26, 2022 at 12:59 am

Some of the 5.45 RDS have a hollow cavity in the tip that facilitate s tumbling upon entry by way of conical tip distortion

  16. Jack Daniels on December 26, 2022 at 12:59 am

Apparently you don’t know what slow motion mode is.

  17. Velocity- on December 26, 2022 at 1:00 am

i’m thinking about getting a 74, this might have convinced me

  18. First Last on December 26, 2022 at 1:01 am

Russian engineering better than usa, not surprising.

  19. JN on December 26, 2022 at 1:01 am

Great job. I have both, shoot both, and like both. Statistically insignificant difference between them from a ballistics standpoint. Still fun to compare.

  20. eddy viera on December 26, 2022 at 1:01 am

I want to build a 5.45 ar, figure might as well piss off ar and ak guys.

  21. Strategy Channel on December 26, 2022 at 1:03 am

I’ve been chasing a 5.45 platform after their enthusiast rave about how it’s a better penetrator but it seems I need to remain content with 5.56

That paint job is awesome. I usually don’t like paint jobs, but I like that one.

  23. Oleg Swarovski on December 26, 2022 at 1:05 am

Hello my friend . do you have an accurate shot test with both rifles?

  24. LUIS LOYA on December 26, 2022 at 1:05 am

    Excellent video

  25. Caleb Rose on December 26, 2022 at 1:05 am

You need to see which one is more accurate

  26. PhilWitDa45 on December 26, 2022 at 1:07 am

I’ll take a Galil or Galil ACE with 62/70 grain TSX or 62/75 grain Soft Points

  27. Kevin on December 26, 2022 at 1:07 am

We might see what the 5.45 is all about war with Russia might actually happen🤦‍♂️

  28. ᴅᴇ ʟᴜꜱᴛᴇʟᴏᴏꜱ on December 26, 2022 at 1:07 am

Funny how in the AR15 forums the guys are going full-nationalistic claiming that the 5.56 is always superior to the 5.45 and say that the ‘tumbling’ and the ‘terrible wounds’ are an urban legend. This proves they’re wrong.

  29. David 99 on December 26, 2022 at 1:08 am

Where did you get the green box ?, I haven’t found those

  30. Bthorn 50 on December 26, 2022 at 1:08 am

    7n6. Best 5.45.

  31. RaY on December 26, 2022 at 1:08 am

Please do 5.56 nato vs 5.56 armor piercing Incendiary

  32. salimilnur on December 26, 2022 at 1:09 am

5,45 Калашников лучше и стабильнее, чем патрон НАТО.

  34. Btk_ lilb on December 26, 2022 at 1:11 am

    556 defensive loads take a 💩 on 7n6 anyday

  35. Rufus on December 26, 2022 at 1:14 am

    soviet 5.45 definitely looks better

  36. Sgt Bean Pow on December 26, 2022 at 1:14 am

You should have shot a green tip outnof the AR-15

  37. Andrew Jack on December 26, 2022 at 1:15 am

Probably more energy transferred into the block by the 556 people aren’t very thick

  38. Constantine Joseph on December 26, 2022 at 1:18 am

Basically both are extremely lethal and are very capable rounds. 6.8mm is really a waste of money and investment and effort, more like an exercise to drain the public coffers for a few connected usual military companies.

  39. AmuroR4y on December 26, 2022 at 1:19 am

Why did you mask off BCM? 😂

  40. Brian Y on December 26, 2022 at 1:20 am

Great video! I bet that 5.56 round was quite a bit louder for you! 😉

  41. Unkown User on December 26, 2022 at 1:22 am

    Arsenal? Nice!

  42. Roger Anderson on December 26, 2022 at 1:22 am

My mother threw it away when I got home, but I recovered a 5.56 out of the back of a VC I got the night before and the tracer bullet looked like it was put in a vice and squeezed, The back where the phosphorous for the tracer was contained but still on the bullet just peeled but was still intact.

  43. igor01 on December 26, 2022 at 1:26 am

    7.62 > 5.45 and 5.56

  44. myveryfirstname on December 26, 2022 at 1:28 am

Yesssa. Wanted to see this for a while. Please do 6.5 grendel vs 300aac. Also 6.5 credmore vs 308 Winchester

  45. Michael Keryger on December 26, 2022 at 1:30 am

We need more tests testing 7.62×39 and 223

  46. 1ShotTV on December 26, 2022 at 1:33 am

Hey guys! This is just part 1 so I wanted to start with two of the most common rounds available for these rifles, Wolf 60 gr FMJ and 55 gr XM193. There are tons of ammo options for these, especially the 5.56 and I will do more comparisons on these two. Let me know what other tests you would like to see both with and without the ballistics gel. Thank you!

  47. Polymath Perspective on December 26, 2022 at 1:33 am

To me most mass shootings happen because that stems from call of duty ar-15 which is a soldiers best friend. The thing is though the ar-15 is for putting targets down and looking for next man – tactical. While the Ak-47 is designed to take out 20 people at one time clearing the field. A bear will laugh off an emptied Ar-15 into it and still chase you down. Thick skin, stops bleeding. A 7.62 round will actually chop a bear in half
