Better Than Ruger 10/22: Thompson TCR22

Better Than Ruger 10/22: Thompson TCR22
In the Bunker we go for a feature length .22 auto talk with TacticalDoodle. The star is the Thompson Center TCR22. We’ll fool around of course and make some key life observations that serve little purpose other than to make you laugh. Then we get get business.
We came to know the gun well with multiple outings. It immediately struck us a product improved 10/22 and we’ll show you the specifics. The TCR22 really presents like a Magnum Research LITE rather than a 10/22. Accuracy was near perfect. Some fun .22LR competitive options will be appreciated. It’s time for some .22 rifle talk.

YOU ARE SO ANNOYING THAT YOUR VIDEO IS WORTHLESS. i STOPPED AT 10 MINUTES WITH STUPIDITY AND ZERO INFO.
It took serious effort to make it through 10 minutes of that.
What’s with the AK? Looks like it has an AR style mag well and magazine.
The stock TCR22 mags kinda suck…
I would have loved to hear how this compares to the Marlin 795. I bought that based on your recommendation and am thinking about selling my stock 10/22 and buying this.
I picked up my TCR22 for $289 with all fees in California!
15:18 Review starts.
I bought my TCR22 a few years ago for $320. I’ve dump soo much money in it. It got a full magpul hunter x22 stock with a 18.5" carbon fiber barrel, tacsol comp, UTG swivel bipod and a leupold vx freedom 3-9×40 rimfire scope with a 4" leupold sunshade.
Can you drop in a 10/22 Timney Trigger in it without modifications?
Nice cover.
Lotsa plastic for me. Replaced bolt n trigger lower with Kidd Innovation. Runs flawlessly
its a 1022!!! nothing new!!! its a 1022!!! the intragated rail is a bad idea!!!
I’m shorter than Doodle.
Love the gloves/glasses with the review, probably could have saved some tacticool ounces there.
Doodle we are counting on you to take that megaphone away from your dad and loose it. Beat him half to death with it if you want but get rid of it.
Should I buy a T/C or a Henry Lever Action rimfire… can’t decide between the two
My dad is 6’2” and I’m 5’8”. I feel your pain!
This was my first gun. I can’t complain. I just wish I could have a suppressor on it. Smh.
15:13. You’re welcome.
I bought a Marlin 795 instead of the Ruger. 💯% love the Marlin. Just ordered the Thompson Center TCR22. I know I’m going to love it. No Ruger for me. They won’t even sell me the 10 magazines. Even though CT is a slave state, we have 10 round magazines. I will never ever buy a Ruger.
What do you use for rimfire suppressor and is cleaning a problem?
Tactical doodle looks and acts like a meth addict!! There’s something weird about that kid 🤔
But yeah, only bad thing i heard bout tcr, barrel will rust on top.
Would love to see nuttin compare and test the new Winchester Wildcat 22lr!
A cheap .22 with high quality ammo will shoot better than a $2,000 gun with cheap/bulk ammo. I don’t think a lot of people realize that when they buy expensive .22’s
So,….fun fact. When Nutnfancy said that it was his prediction that people wouldn’t change anything on this rifle? Well, I was going to. I was about to place the aluminum trigger from my target 10/22 [picked up a Volquartsen trigger for it] into the TCR22,…….but the holes on the Thompson trigger are closer together than on the Ruger. O_o In other words, if you wanted to change trigger on this,…you’d need a new sear(?) as well. So,….this trigger group is NOT the same as Ruger. Just letting you all know [for those who haven’t already found this out].
Live near the Boston area? Pick one up for $229.95 at Four Seasons in Woburn MA. https://fsguns.com/new-long-guns/
Other stores are selling them at $300 or more around here. Sweet little rifle.. 🙂
I wish I could find a used 10/22 cheap here cheapest one I have found used was $190 new starts at about $265 here
Isn’t Thompson owned by Remington now? The outside shooting background looks familiar, but I cant place it, where is it?
Did you think the tcr22 mags would auto lock in the 10/22????
Other than the fact it is confused as a S&W TC/R 22 vs. Thompson, you look need to look in S&W catalogue. Never seen one in CALOCO. Some said they got one for his wife—gun store clerk.
Let your beard grow Doodle, it’s winter!
$299 at Cabela’s! Just ordered mine.
New subscriber! 🇺🇸
You guys are hilarious lol <3
Was at gunnies last night picking up a shield .45 acp and seen this there they have it on sale in a bundle comes with red dot, sling, and soft case for 299.99. have never shot one so glad I found this vid now have to go back on Monday to take one home lol thanks nutn
Looks like an Iron Blooded Orphans Gundam on the top shelf, is TD an anime fan?
A bit much non-TCR content in this video making it un-focused and very long to watch. Maybe do shorter edited version with only TCR relevant info?
Hi TNPrs! Project still strong and working hard. Remember TNP Patreon gets the videos first and some never post on the main channel! Here’s some TNPr comments from Patreon, join the fun and full flow of TNP content: https://www.patreon.com/Nutnfancy I brought this GRV over quicker from Patreon environment just cause. "John K Stankiewicz I’ll watch it now Nutn. Just wondering what I was going to watch tonight haha 👍🇺🇲👍 1 5d The Nutnfancy Project Glad to deliver 😉 5d Load 1 reply Ryan Reese No joke I’m watching your Xooter Scooter video right now on YT. I’m pretty sold! Another great classic TNP review! 5d The Nutnfancy Project Yes! I still have and love the Xootrs. Great reference 1 5d Pedro Yay .22 talk and such. I’ve been curious about this rifle, saw it in a magazine peaked my interest. 2 5d The Nutnfancy Project Guard your credit card on this one…really xlnt Pedro 1 5d Load 1 reply Caleb11b What an awesome surprise after getting off work!!!!! I am going and praying your shoulder surgery went well and you have a swift recovery! Still having issues with mine 7 years after. 5d Charles Steimle Been wondering if you’d hit on the TC22. It’s on my short list. Excited for this review!! 5d Pezz YAY! Finally Nutn’ and good to see you check this one out as I have really liked the one I have had this passed year. Would have seen if Gunnies had one back then but it was an impulse buy at my local small gun / pawn shop. Just a great product improved 10/22. 5d Michael B warner There is no like a good old .22 you just can’t beat them for the value. You can shoot all day long have a blast without breaking the bank. I found a really great deal on a Marlin Papoose 70PSS. My son’s getting it for Christmas this year he’s going to love it. 5d Ricky Kurtz Like your move over sign. Been look’n for a better semi-auto .22 then my 10/22. Looks like you found it for me. Thank you again for great content. Ricky from IBM 5d Ryan Thomas It’s time for a new shotgun video……… 5d Pedro Franchi affinity. You won’t be disappointed. 5d Jake Harvey Yes! .22 semis! I just picked up a tacsol xring with the backpacker stock last week. My new favorite toy.. 5d The Nutnfancy Project It will bring you happiness 1 4d Brandon Wilson Love me some 22 action! 5d Rob B Recently traded an unused 12g for a buddy’s M&P 15-22 for a fun semi auto gun the kids can plink with. Total family fun. However, the TC was absolutely on my wishlist until I came across the 15-22 for an even swap. 5d The Nutnfancy Project Love that 15 – 22, really good gun 4d BRIAN J ANDERSON I haven’t even held or shot the TCR22 and I already want one!!! Curse the I-1639 Law in WA state!! 5d Nathan P Hubsch I need to get a 22 rifle of my own to take new shooters to the range and also my fiance. We keep renting the suppressed 10/22 for the ladies cause they’re noise and recoil shy. 5d Robert Clewell Any idea what happened to the winchester wildcat 22lr that was presented at shot show. 11 months and nobody has had in stock. 5d Jonathan Edwards Is it wrong to be slightly happy that a company looked at a Ruger design and basically copied it, then slightly improved it for the end-user? Seems like an appropriate payback for all the other new gun designs Ruger has copped from other gun makers over the last 5-7 years. 1 5d Pedro I do find it funny that someone else pulled a Ruger. 5d Load 2 replies Jonathan Edwards Also, great shout out to the Tech-Sights. I have them on my CZ-452 Military Trainer and I’m also able to get 1MOA out to 50 yards. 5d The Nutnfancy Project Totally love Tech Sights, I would mount them on every gun if I could 4d steve garrett I put a kidd barrel on my 10/22, it shoots great but the tolerances make it not shoot certain ammo and can be a bit picky at times feeding. Lately I just grab the model 60, it works, no mags to lose or dink with. besides unless the mags are all pre loaded, IMO the mag advantage is lost. I need a 9422 like as in bad. 5d steve garrett yes that is a bsquare AR15 mount on the troy gun. its chinsey feeling, but its an AR15 mount that gets the job done. 5d The Nutnfancy Project Hello Steve! Correct. I think I bought that one at a gun show in the 1990s! 4d Joe Nice review! Looks like a winner! 4d Jason Burson TD’s noise reminds me of decades ago in high school grunting in the background while doing the “attention Walmart shoppers the store will be closing in 15 minutes” announcement… 4d DirtyDirka Review the Gundam Barbatos Lupus! 4d Pedro I second this. 4d Thomas Bachtell I just saw a Bergara BXR 22 at my local gun shop. Looked interesting and felt great. Looks a little pricey though, close to $600. It might make a good pairing with my Bergara B-14 HMR in .308 someday. Unfortunately, I had just bought the Ruger 10/22 Collector’s Series "Man’s Best Friend " edition rifle on sale for $236 at Sportsman’s Warehouse with their 5% Veteran’s discount. I really like it’s GI style sights, modular stock, attached rail, cool metal sign and a $25 dollar gift certificate. Out of box tigger is a bit heavy at just under 5 lbs, but it breaks nice. Also had to replace the bolt catch, which is annoying, but it’s a cheap fix. 4d RowdyRon These bunker reviews are the best. I hope LS sits in on one someday. I have a 10/22, and my son has a TCR22. I like his much better overall. Thanks Nutn. 4d Eric Kelley Damnit Nutn….here we go again. Another box under the bed …. "Oh yeah, Honey, I’ve had that one forever." 2 4d David Gaines The 10/22 is iconic. No gun collection is complete without one. 3 4d Justin Absolute goof balls. Love the vids, I have a few .22 rifles. 10/22 & marlin model 60 4d The Nutnfancy Project Yes! 3d Brad Fegan My trainer almost 30 years ago was a Remington Field master .22 pump. Which I transitioned to a Remington 870 12ga and Winchester model 12ga when got older. Still have all of them. Passed down from dad to me. 4d Rick Grad Great video! Laughed at the tape over the REI logo;) 4d The Nutnfancy Project Agreed 3d NatvMan I would love to see a nutn vs td, 10/22 shoot out on a dueling tree(hours of fun). The banter back and forth would be awesome. Keep up the good work! 4d The Nutnfancy Project He would get owned…fun vid idea though, I like it 2 3d Load 1 reply TacticalBunnyCA Isn’t that Marlin more like a $200.00 gun with those tech-sights on there? Not to be nit picky, it’s still a great gun. 4d The Nutnfancy Project Yep with the sights. But just talking the rifle, very affordable/// Powernoodle If, God forbid, I could only own 2 or 3 guns, a 10/22 would have to be among them. Practicality and aesthetics all rolled into one. 4d Emerson Evans Love it. I actually passed on the Thompson sitting on the shelf still at Doug’s shoot n sports for the marlin 795. I was able to outfit it with a 3-9 scope, sling and extra mags for under 300$ so for a suuuuper budget 22 with awesome accuracy that was the win. I didn’t like the 22 dovetail on the marlin because half of it was missing. I essentially glued my scope on because of manufacturing mishaps–still haven’t heard back from marlin on it. oh well. 4d The Nutnfancy Project 795 still a good choice. Sorry to hear about your dovetail issue. I would think Marlin would have followed up with you, you might want to just push a bit harder to get that one fixed 1 3d Bill The Broken Awesome job guys – VEEERY entertaining as always. Owned a 10/22 and replaced it with a SW MP 15-22. If you could only own 1 22 between the ruger, the TC, and the MP 15-22 which would you choose? 3d David Hynes Glad to see TD review a gun he likes, but it’s even better seeing him review a gun he thinks is trash. That PTR/CETME review still ranks as peak TD, his digs on that gun were hilarious. 3 3d The Nutnfancy Project Sure enough, I just let him run with it and it is always hilarious. You can always count on pure honesty from him. Also having dealt with comments in my project from general YouTube audience for over 10 years has made him quite jaded and impatient which adds to the humor. 1 3d Load 1 reply David Romer Watched it, loved it, bought it……don’t tell my wife 🙂 1 3d Joe Hardy Last .22 rifle I bought was about 7 or 8 years ago, a Marlin 795. If memory serves I was heavily influenced by Nutn’s glowing recommendation of the rifle. 3d The Nutnfancy Project Excellent memory just now Nathan Simms aka Darkpriest As always TD and Nutn Bunker reviews are awesome. Love .22LR and will be picking up more guns in that caliber soon. Proud Quadruple Owl 😀 3d FNH CAT Love my Marlin 795 with tech sights. Wish it had a threaded barrel… 1d The Nutnfancy Project Great choice FNH, great combo just now FNH CAT BTW I grabbed my Marlin with Tech sights for $20 plus shipping and $35 FFL fee off of Gunbroker. Best purchase ever and smokes my 10/22!!! 1d FNH CAT Would you use it for home defense?"
TacticalDoodle is right… Being 5’9" means you can fit in anything and you’re clothes are always on sell… I’m 6’6" and it can be a pain.
diggin the skateboard tape on the forearm, great idea
Better buy one of these while you can. Ruger is currently in court with Thompson trying to get a stop sale put on these rifles.
U guys should do a show together at hickock 45s place, with hickock, 22plinkster, taooflerdums, mrgunsandgear.
for a bugout 10/22 or any 22 rifle: Iron sights. Non negotiable.
The best part of this video is the chemistry between father and son. Hats off to you both.
Will this take the rugar clip the 10 round? Im in CA

"Male fashion designer review .22 rifle."
Too bad the Thompson starts to rust after a couple months, and their fit and finish leaves a little to be desired. What they were aiming for was nice, but they need better quality control and they actually need to nitride their barrels.
Truth be told, between the TCR22 and the 10/22 compact I still preferred my 10/22 compact for it’s shorter overall length, Ruger American rimfire-like stock, and low profile fiber-optic sights. With the 13.5 LOP stock module, Vortex Diamondback 1.75-5×32 and Kidd trigger job it’s just a great feeling short/lightweight plinker. Handier than a hooker.
