Budget AR Scope Selection with Navy SEAL Mark "Coch" Cochiolo
Budget AR Scope Selection with Navy SEAL Mark "Coch" Cochiolo
Retired Navy SEAL continues his talk about high-value products. Here, he discusses various AR scopes and optics.
A budget AR scope can work perfectly fine for your application. If you can afford a high-end scope, go for it. They are great but aren’t necessary for most people.

Thanks for the info. Looks like you like great Beer too!
Awesome video with different idea/options on setups, especially for us poors. lol
Finally a tier 1 former operator that understands what it’s like to be a regular guy living within regular means that still wants good optics to put on more that just 1 rifle when several need them thanks so much for the reviews and advice Coach
I got a used Sig Sauer red dot-scope for pennies on the dollar and its aim-point is true. Nothing extra, no big bucks.
Love your platform brother..keep on Rocking Brother!..
No BS common Sense advice. Thank you for your service.
Coch I could watch you show n tell all day. You just helped me decide what I want/need for my ARs. Thanks.
great video but nothing on here was “Budget” lol
love your video location man the trees make a really good background. Also great picks on the scopes im currently looking for an upgrade from my red dot
Once again you do not disappoint Coch.
Great video, very helpful!
Try cvlife acog I got it to rate it it’s been beat up now and it still holds zero
Man, nothing “budget” about $500 for a dot
Dude, you have more money in guns and optics then I have in my car.
But my house has walls, so I guess it’s all even.
Great vid by the way. Cheers!
Relax people, it’s just a joke.
My car is worth way more.
Old school, with bad eyes here. Still rocking the red dot magnifier combination, work’s great for me.
Great info. This really helps with showing so many choices.
PA has GLX 1-6x blem LPVOs for $450 right now. Big step up in glass quality.
I would really love to hear more about the Arken Optics. I’m really close to pulling the trigger on one of their 6-24×50 scopes since they are $299 right now, plus you get a $211 combo pack with a $170 off ($10 of that being donated to NSF) bringing the grand total to $327.16 for an optic and all the accessories. Very tempting.
Good video
I enjoy how Mark communicates. Seems like a guy worth knowing.
Thanks, Coch! Great overview of optics!
Gonna do some research for the next build!
Thank you for this, Coch. Cohesive, coherent and useful information.
HAPPY THANKS GIVING FROM MY FAMILY TO THE HOLE CREW .GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Primary arms micro 3x prism is on my ar pistol great for 100 yds. Works great. Looking for something for ar rifle out to 300.
Loved it
SwampFox has 40% off for Mil/Leo. Badass glass too. Awesome video Coch, love ya.
I fully agree , we all want quality glass but we can’t afford the high end models , so to have an option that has quality along with affordable price is always good . I have a Athlon scope I just purchased and so far it’s performed really well and seems to be very durable and at a reasonable price .
If you believe any of the arken scopes are quality then that tells me you have been using an empty toilet paper roll for a scope taped to a broomstick!
Nice, an actual real expert. i wish people would pay attention to you and not all the pompous popular dipshits
Daaamn, what optic buy for my AR15 20" fixed stock, match trigger, ff handguard? i have sell Acog with bad eye relief with no collapsible buttstock, thinked to end customization like MK12 with scope but ? too much magnification 3-15×44?
Coch what are your thoughts on a red dot magnifier to with a flip to the side mount?
Consider that it’s all relative. All the optics he shows which vary in price greatly, are better than service duty optics during the 90’s and early 2000’s. You really can’t go wrong with any of them and so it boils down to how extra cash you have to spend on a name brand.
Vortex 3X spitfire 1st Gen here.
It’s perfection..
Very good presentation by this creator BUT I would not called these budget friendly.
The title is misleading and that’s the only reason I clicked on this…I was looking for a budget optic. These are not those.
Thank you for the optics for dummies lesson!!!!!! You explained things so well for me, you narrowed down my choices to 3 and saved me quite a few hundred dollars!!!!!!
I prefer iron sights
Hooyah Coch. I went with the newest Arken, the EP-5, for my new 6.5PRC, not knowing there was any SEAL involvement either, but rather in sticking with my mantra of keeping it low budget for good stuff.
Arken put the older model SH-4 on sale before my EP-5 had even arrived, so what the heck, I ordered an SH-4 to keep it company! Just a couple of days ago Arken emailed that the SH-4 is still available, and that 4-16X50 is now under $300 for anybody wanting to, excuse the pun, pull the trigger.
I wasn’t a SEAL but knew a couple way back in my Coronado days, and a couple more are present day friends. Serving with the Brown Water Navy meant meeting a few of them, but you were probably not even a gleam in your father’s eye back then.
Good review: nevertheless, for around $600 I can have European glass & build, Meopta Optika6 2.5-15×44 BDC-3 Illuminated Reticle, for the once not familiar they make scopes for Zeiss & the likes, they use Shott glass. Meopta is the biggest scope/optic maker in Europe. You can find them online here in the US. Way beyond the China & Malaysian stuff.
Coch have you had the time to really get comfortable with that Vortex Gen II Spitfire? I got to change out the scope I have on my AR-10 just for the weight. Dam thing weighs 13lbs with the full size scope!
Just tried that Archen SH4 scope on a AR. $314.00 with the discount code REX170 when you also order the accessories package that includes the rings. It is an awesome value.
thanks for the humble suggestion
to often people promote Gucci stuff and i dont know enough to appreciate the difference. there is a price for goid enough
I built an AR15 with an 18” barrel chambered in 223 Wylde, I wanted something different than what would be normally installed, the red dot or a 1-6, 1-8 scopes, or even a 1-10x. I settled on a 2-10x Vortex PST FFP/ MOA with a side parallax adjustment. The cost was $850. The parallax I had to have old eyes.
Was that a mini 14
Cheap china ebay red dots out perform acogs.
Real them in 🤣
Also a good budget LPVO option is a Burris RT6. Been using it on my 14,5 M4 and I’m pretty satisfied for now. I haven’t yet tried the $1500 LPVOs tho.
Thank you Sir.
Thanks Coach!
Another awesome video from a pro. Not trying to sell a bunch of crap, just providing useful info.
Man this guy is refreshing. He is not trying to sell the elite/Tier1 "stuff" but comes in with good, durable common sense suggestions and has a good delivery.. Well done .. New subscriber
Coch, "I ain’t got a lot of money" Boy howdy! PA magnified optics and Holosun green dots and I don’t feel under gunned.
