    I would not buy a used .22. They get shot a lot. Most high power rifle usually doesn’t get shot much.

    You can kill deer with. 22-250, 204 ruger and .223/.556. Those rounds just work. I’ve fed my family with.223/.556 for decades in Montana. A number of antelope too. Mostly speer soft points. Nothing fancy. If you think small calibers are for you, then try it. Make up your own mind from experience.

    Winchester changed management and ownership a number of times, but they are still in business and producing firearms. You can still buy brand new model 70’s, 94’s, etc.
