What company makes the mounts you used on your AK

  2. Stickfighter on January 29, 2023 at 1:23 am

I have been looking forward to the 7.62×39 reloading series and seeing your brass, bullet, powder and primer experience. Reloaded this cartridge for a several years so really interested in what you find in your testing. Again, this should be a really good reloading series.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this on your previous vid, but I have one of these NPAPs. They are great rifles, but you might want to keep an eye on the rear of the bolt carrier. Due to the funky hump that Century and Tapco put on their hammer (these all get US-made trigger groups installed in them when they are imported), the rear of the bolt carrier takes a beating against this hump as the rifle cycles. This causes the rear of the carrier to mushroom/peen. This is mostly cosmetic and will usually work harden itself and stop any further deformation before it can become a problem. In some rare cases, that area can mushroom enough to cause the carrier to get stuck in the rearward position when the rifle cycles. There’s a few things you can do. One is just keep an eye on it, change nothing, and hopefully it never gets too bad. You can also put a stronger Wolff recoil spring in to ease the impact a little, and finally you can shave down some of the hump on the hammer with a dremel or grinding wheel. If you do that, be sure to safety check the rifle when you re-install to be SURE the hooks catch the hammer as the bolt/carrier travels over it and pushes it back down to re-cock the rifle. If you shave too much off, the hammer won’t be pushed low enough to catch the trigger hooks, and the rifle can go full auto on you. Not good. If you DO shave off too much, no big deal. You can simply take a little material off the tabs so that the hooks can once again engage and lock it in the cocked position. There are guides on forums and a few youtube videos showing this procedure if you need some help. A quick and cheap fix is one of the rubber recoil buffers, this will prevent the carrier from traveling all the way to the rear so that those mushroomed "wings" have a chance to catch. I don’t suggest this option, because those buffers will eventually wear out and can walk up the recoil spring assembly while you’re shooting and jam the rifle. Good luck, be safe!

  7. sleestalk on January 29, 2023 at 1:30 am

I have an N Pap and holy shit its accurate, but damn the furniture is so heavy!, unloaded with a magazine and no other accoutrements on it, goes at about 8.6 lbs. with a rail and scope? 10.2 lbs.

  8. Kyle Greathouse on January 29, 2023 at 1:34 am

So I have a vska and it don’t have that side mound part is there a way to make is so I can put a rail on that ?

  9. ceraldi on January 29, 2023 at 1:34 am

Barrel mounted bipod probably inst what you should be using if you want to isolate outside influences related to inherent accuracy. you may need to use a rifle rest and support the AK on the front part of the receiver to keep pressure off the barrel.

This will be an interesting series.

  11. Comp hotshot on January 29, 2023 at 1:37 am

The side mount plate where did you get it

  12. Paul Burgener on January 29, 2023 at 1:40 am

Maybe a later video answers this, but can you remove the dust cover while the side mount and scope are on? I’m about to install a side mount on my RAS 47. Not sure it’ll be easily removed, or if I’ll need to use tools each time I take it off. I hope the sheet metal dust cover can be removed without removing my optic nor the side mount it’s on. -paul

  36. Tucson Jack on January 29, 2023 at 2:21 am

Informative video. Nice job.Did your rifle come with the side rail ? I have a new Century Arms VSKA that did not come with a side rail and I’m having difficulties locating one. Wondering if I need a Comblock, Russian Standard or some other that will fit my VSKA. Thank you.
