*Fast Access Gun Safes Review* / Popular Models

SecureIt CEO Tom Kubiniec compares three popular fast-access gun safes and addresses secure gun storage vs. fast access;

Check out;
AMSEC gun safe,
Barsca gun safe,
SecureIt Fast Box Hidden Gun Safe.

Barska Biometric Rifle Safe Summary:
– Fails on stated capacity
– Will not store any type of modern sporting rifles or shotgun
– Does not consider rifles with scopes
– We were very disappointed in the Barska. It simply cannot do what it claims.

AMSEC Home Defense Vault Summary:
– Solid quality construction: stores 1, possibly 2 rifles under 43”
– Design specifically for under bed / horizontal use
– Fast access is questionable and certainly difficult at night
– Loud lock and door operation can give away your position.

Fast Box Hidden Gun Safe Summary:
– All welded heavy gauge steel construction
– Can be used vertically or horizontally
– Can be used in mobile vehicle applications
– Provides fast and quiet access
– Only gun safe built to military standard
– Fits all firearms with attached optics
– Wide verity of accessories available.

Regardless of which gun safe you chose – just make sure your firearms are locked up when not in use. All three of these products do achieve this goal at some level. And although we believe the Fast Box wins in every comparison, the Number 1 takeaway here is that all firearms must be locked!

    The music is annoying!

Nice! The ease of operating the combination lock without having to kneel on the floor is a significant feature.

If it takes more than a second and a half to open and access then this is not ideal for emergencies. On the video I counted 3 seconds from entering the combo to opening the door.

This is exactly what I’m looking for! I’ll be ordered one.

I am really looking forward to you guys putting a handgun storage solution out onto the market. There’s a crying need for something to provide quick access to one or two handguns that can’t be defeated with a paper clip or a pen cap. If it could be used for commercial air travel as well – bonus!

Since this is fundamentally a re-post of the 2016 video, I’ll just make the same comment here that I made over there to correct some info on the Amsec safe. The Amsec safe currently uses their ESL-5 lock, which has a setting that allows it to operate silently, and also has a backlit keypad so you can operate it in the dark. It’s a UL-listed lock also used on some of their safes, and the battery can be replaced from outside the safe without having to have an override key. It may be that when this video was first produced, they were using a different lock, but those are the current specs. I also just found out that the product shown in this video is about to be replaced with a newer version with a few changes. Time will tell if those are improvements.

Still horizontal-only, though, and doesn’t have the slick option to attach to the bed frame that the FastBox has (at least without drilling your own holes). More expensive than the FastBox, etc.

I own one and must say it’s awesome!

Thanks for Explaining your product and I like the Lock box. Thanks

    Music is annoying as heck…..

Why no configuration examples of the model 40?

Have you thought about making one for an office/ nightstand drawer sized for those who have just 1 or 2 handguns?

  14. Rick Ricky on April 26, 2023 at 4:02 am

Are these made in china also?

  15. Tundra Funk on April 26, 2023 at 4:02 am

@secureit how often would you recommended replacing the battery with opening the safe frequently, say once a day?

  16. Richard Swit on April 26, 2023 at 4:05 am

I like it, but the backup lock is really insecure.
If you watch the Lock Picking Lawyer youtube videos tubular locks can be picked in seconds!
A possible improvement would be to have a padlock hasp cover the tubular lock. This would give the owner the option to use any padlock for extra security.

Review the hornady please. I have it, it works fine….the lock is about the loudest thing you’ve ever heard but other than that, it’s a nice product. Fast box is my favorite but the hornady is another good option too. I don’t take advantage of the rfid access since I have kids.

The Amsec may only be designed to be used in one orientation but it is the one and only secure and reliable product in this video. Unlike every other product it has no override that can be bypassed by any teenager with a three digit IQ but also uses a legit swing bolt safe lock. Not a bargain basement Chinese consumer lock. Please, please, please pit a real lock on the Fast Box and I’ll be first in line to buy several more.
