Belgium-based designer and manufacturer of small calibre weapons, associated weapon systems and ammunition FN Herstal proudly announces the introduction of its brand-new 9x19mm handgun dedicated to both armed forces and law enforcement: FN HiPer®.

Fully designed, developed and manufactured in Belgium, the FN HiPer® combines the best globally proven solutions with a large number of innovative patented FN features to deliver an ergonomic, reliable and safe weapon dedicated to both armed forces and law enforcement.

ERGONOMICS PUSHED TO ITS LIMITS
Ergonomics was one of the most considered and improved aspects during preliminary studies and the design stage at FN Herstal as it is a vital feature for any pistol and a determining factor for any armed forces and law enforcement operator.

The hand grip has been intensively studied to find the best compromise between static and dynamic comfort. The optimised grip angle, the balance of the pistol and low bore axis give the FN HiPer® perfect controllability, especially for fast follow-up shots.

With its retention grooves, three interchangeable ergonomic grip covers and numerous non-slip grip surfaces, the pistol has been designed to best suit the shape of any user’s hand while an optional tactical locking plate is available for even easier cocking.

The ambidextrous slide catch is uniquely located and prevents any accidental activation by the user. Also, the design of the ambidextrous, rotary operating magazine catch is revolutionary. The shooter can reliably change magazines in seconds without shifting grip while staying aligned on the target. The two levers act independently. When one lever is activated the other remains static, so it will not be blocked by the user’s hand.

The FN HiPer® comes standard with a new trigger mechanism, the pressure and travel of which can be adjusted by an armourer. These adjustments allow the pistol to be adapted to the shooter, and contribute to the perfect ergonomics of the pistol and exceptional comfort for the shooter.

Choosing the FN HiPer® is opting for a handgun that offers optimum ergonomics, great comfort and easy handling, including for people with small hands.

RELIABILITY AND SAFETY WERE NOT IGNORED
Alongside a rigid metal chassis and a completely new firing mechanism, the FN HiPer® also features unequalled sealing against ingress of dust and dirt, with all subassemblies perfectly assembled, with no gap between them. This makes the pistol extremely reliable in both normal and adverse conditions.

FN Herstal designed a fully polymer magazine using new, highly resistant materials for extreme reliability and durability compared to a traditional metal magazine. The magazine indicates the remaining number of rounds.

Thanks to its inherent innovative overall design, the FN HiPer® offers increased safety as it includes all the standard safety systems, such as trigger safety, firing pin safety, and out-of-battery safety, and can be disassembled without pulling the trigger.

Finally, the FN HiPer® pistol, in its MRD (mini red dot sight) version, features an FN patented interface which makes the pistol compatible with the most commonly used red dot sights for pistols.

FN HiPer® is the pistol that will definitely make a difference for both armed forces and law enforcement.

To learn more about the all-new FN HiPer®, visit the FN Herstal booth (Belgian pavilion, hall 6, booth F197) at the EUROSATORY 2022 show, from 13 to 17 June 2022.

I don’t like the magazine release lever, the movement could be confused with the slide release lever.

Yet again FN makes another underwhelming handgun, the hi power was the last time they make a genuinely innovative pistol and now they’re just trying to ride off an old name.

Come on FN, you have a baller pistol. Why on earth would you do that to the mag release. I really hope you wise up and put a regular mag release on it.

Wow. I hope it will be exported to the USA. It would be a huge hit success!

Given the name, I was hoping for a modernized version of the Hi Power, since FN just released a classic looking High Power and people were complaining about lack of a rail and MRD cut. I think having two version of the Hi Power – High Power and Hi Per would make sense, but I guess I was entirely wrong.

At first I was a little unimpressed by the press release of the HiPer, but after seeing one in action, I’m actually excited and hopeful these make it to the US. This pistol offers the paddle release I prefer and the location of the slide stop/release is great.

My only gripe (and folks correct me if I’m wrong): seems like the internals take its lineage from the FNX series where the slide rails are retained by interference between the fire control group and locking block (those who have detail stripped either of those pistols know you have to "spread" the frame apart at the locking block). I almost feel at the rails up front, the rails could have been made much longer so the slide is mechanically more in line when cycling. There looks to be more than enough room to allow longer rails like it’s done on 1911/2011, CZs, and even custom modified bullseye pistols (like M9s used for National Match).

Otherwise, I look forward to seeing one of these. It’s been awhile since I’ve been excited for an FN pistol.
    👍

It was look promising until under the hood disassembly proccess, Plastic housing for the firing pin channel and multiple springs&parts in firing mechanism did bring problems to the FN almost around past 30 years and seems like they are insisting for not the take any lessons from their previous mistakes. Around 100 +/- 20 years, every platform passes thru hard primer malfunction issues with tougher firing pin spring and that was time proven, multiple springs for the shooting different spec ammunation idea with plastic molding house is just a fancy cover up marketing word of their way to lowering manufacturing costs.. , two pieced barrel fitted "MIM" barrel lockup with forged barrel also another flag for the lowering manufacturing costs, at least this one not brings chronical problems so far in the past..
If they were go with the standart CNC one pieced slide with 31 or 33 NM firing pin spring, such as PPQ, it was easly becomes potential to fire every kind of cartridge which is exist in the planet without any hic-up.
And they will be not disqualified again in future military contracts due to the complicated FP mechanism and broken parts of it.
I said i was looks promising and wished about not to seen any crappy internals for the costing, but FN follow its manufacturing DNA again…

Looks pretty snappy ….The standard out there is 17 rounds in a such longer grip ….The trigger is nothing special…. Meh.

    Raising the bar again!
    Amazing looking ergonomics.
    I love the controls design.
Not a fan of the suppressor height sights.
I would like to see a few more reviews by the top gun channels for a more balanced evaluation.

  31. onpsxmember on July 23, 2022 at 8:29 pm

I’ve heard the trigger is adjustable. Seemingly the neutral position of the trigger is adjustable to accompany different finger reach. That is a serious selling point so why not mention it besides the video description. No time or need of tools for it?
