In Season of the Lost we have a few new shotguns to evaluate that challenge the current best in slot options in the meta. One of the new ones is the Fractethyst which is in the kinetic slot and can roll with Opening Shot AND Quickdraw – any elite perk combination for shotguns.
In this video, we look at the potential rolls of Fractethyst and compare how it stacks up against the Riiswalker from the Iron Banner, another top tier shotgun in the Kinetic slot.

Felwinters is still the king for pellet shotties in terms of range

So the lightweight frame doesn’t just give you extra movement speed, it literally buffs your dodge cooldown?
fracthethyst really feels god but i dont think its really good
Once i landed a Frac with FC, assault mag, quick draw, opening shot, with range master work… i let go of trying to get a perfect Riis Walker. Plus lightweights seem so inconsistent for me
got a fractal with full choke, assault mag, quick draw and opening shot. it dominates 100% of close ingagements on most maps against most players

What’s your take on eye of the storm perk for Riiswalker? any testing done?
I have the fractethyst, and i have used it in crucible. Idk whats going on but it does like 12 damage on a headshot sometimes.
Very disappointed with crucible at the moment, seeing as im getting put in to games way above my skill level.
I’ve tested both godrolls, with full choke accurized rounds, with handling first traits, and on riis- iron reach, and fractal, opening shot, and i’ve had much more consistency with riiswalker, both have range mw’s, personally riiswalker brings just about the same range for a one shot kill, and lets you have a faster followup shot, and the lightweight bonus, fractal personally just does not bring enough to the table to make up what riiswalker can do.

Does opening shot only apply if the weapon with opening shot fires first or is it fine to start with another and switch to the opening shot?

slideshot opening shot fullchoke accurized + dragons shadow with maximum mobility with utility kick start for infinite dragons shadow buff which gives max handling snapshoy + turns all weapons into lightweight frame for ez wins
you should do a vid comparing NF and Lunas in 2021, both are sunset and are the same gun so it’d be funny
Fullchoke with slideshot mitigates the nerf
why do people still go for full choke? genuinely curious. seems to do little-to-nothing for me, and since they changed shotguns so that there’s no range boost for ADSing, i hardly even ADS my shotgun anymore. seems like the increased handling from barrel shroud or corkscrew are way more useful, especially after the quickdraw nerf

Honestly, I find the Fractal to be *less* consistent up close than lightweight frames because of that mobility boost the lightweights have. Closing the distance to get into oneshot range faster seems more effective in practice than simply having a little more range for said distance. Although, that conclusion might be different if I had a mobility based build – as I usually play a Hammer Titan with a focus on Res, Rec, and Dis. so my mobility is a 2 or 3 at the best of times. We’re I to be playing with a maxed out mobility, I guess the range boost would make more sense.
I have a riis with eye of the storm and iron reach… eye of the storm comes into effect way more that you’d expect and is essentially QuickDraw and the accuracy buff helps land all your pellets easier

Fractethyst for PvE cause it matches my stasis well build
Riskwalker for PvP cause I got the god roll of slide shot and iron reach

i have a quickdraw/harmony and it feels REALLY good. wish i could get a good opening shot roll though.
what happened to the dreaming city shotgun?
I’ll admit, I’ve been tearing my hair out over which shotgun to chase between Riiswalker and Fractethyst in PVP. Both have strengths and weaknesses between each other. It’s dead even from what I’ve seen so far through various opinions so far.
Added bonus – the fractal counts as "stasis kills" for any of those annoying Europa quests including the weekly bounty to "kill x combatants with stasis" which is much faster than just having to rely on your stasis abilities to complete it.
Full auto makes the shotgun have less effective range – well learned with the Dusk Rock Blues
Why would a precision frame have wider spread than a lightweight? That just doesn’t make sense.

In my opinion Riiswalker is better, i got a slideways and iron reach roll. It’s deadly in pvp. I got it as my 1st iron banner weapon, as i am a new player.
