Welcome to Firearms of America! Today, I have another Glock generation 5 review and this is Glock 42 gen 5 review.

Let’s start with this Glock 42 specs:
Caliber: .380 Auto
Weight (without magazine): 345 g | 12.17 oz
Mag. Capacity: Standard: 6
Barrel Length: 82,5 mm | 3.25 inch
Length (Overall): 151 mm | 5.94 inch
Trigger Pull: 24 N

To make it clear, this is the all new Glock, so there is really no Glock 42 gen 4, but it has all the familiar features of gen 5.

Overall, you get from this Glock pistol exactly what you expect from a Glock. Easy operation, basic design, reliable performance. This particular one is the compact Glock 380 acp and considering the magazine capacity, this Glock handgun is a great option for CCW. Is this the best Glock to carry? Well, that comes down to your personal preference. Glock G42 is only 6 rounds, but it is much easier to conceal.

Doing this Glock G42 review was pretty easy for me because I have already reviewed so many Glocks in the past from different generations.

So, what do you guys think about this Glock 42 review? Let me know in the comments below! Thanks for watching!

  2. Mike 45 on March 7, 2023 at 2:40 am

Just for the record the only Glock I own is the G19, so I went to purchase the Ruger LCP Max end up leaving with the Glock 42 couldn’t be happier so now I own 2 Glock’s.

the magazine is what funtions the lock out on the slide correctly. if your mag is trash then the slide will treat you like trash as well. this is one reason these guns got a mag fix by glock. the fixed mags will have the numbers. 33249 , then 03 under those first 5 numbers.

The G42 has been my everyday carry and nightstand pistol for 6 years now. Without going into a lot of detail, it has proven excellent in every aspect of a CCW gun. The only thing it needed out of the box was a good set of tritium night sights. The only downside I find from the G42 and all other small pistols like it is that they tend to shoot very slightly to the left of point of aim if you are right handed. The simple fix for me is to keep my left index finger on the front of the trigger guard (shooting the gun two handed) when I press the trigger. No malfunctions and 3-4" groups all day long at 15 yds.

Tempting as they are on sale at Cabela’s for 399, BUT one can get a Ruger EC9 with 7+1 for 269 and stronger, easier to find ammo.

    Ruger LCP MAX….enough said

  7. Stratelite on March 7, 2023 at 2:43 am

Wonderful little boring tool to defend yourself with.

  8. Brandon Johnson on March 7, 2023 at 2:44 am

Love .380… can’t stand the capacity of this gun… call me a capacity whore… 6 may be plenty but for that I might as well carry a .38 or .44

  9. The1HolyCrusader on March 7, 2023 at 2:45 am

Just FYI Glock came out with a new extension for the G42, laser sights, and extended magazine ( I just looked this up before I posted this).

  10. obeii1 on March 7, 2023 at 2:46 am

Trash ! My 365 can hold 15 extended with 12 as standard and it’s thinner than the Glock

  11. William Fry on March 7, 2023 at 2:46 am

I love the Glock 42, Easy to shoot and fits my hand. The full size Glocks hurt my hand, all of them. I also like the Ruger SR40 and SR9, and Sig pistols. Thats all I know.

Excellent video on Glock 42 380 caliber you can’t beat this little gun a lot of policemen carry it in an ankle holster or their pocket as a backup gun I’ve been to the range and I shot all kinds of 380s expensive ones and cheaper ones this one beats them all and Glock service is just excellent you get the gun back and a week or so if you could find one buy it 🇱🇻🇺🇲💯👍

Glock has a revised slide stop lever and spring which will take care of the issue. 33272 Is the part number and it will be marked 33207-2

I wish you could compare the G 42 to the LCP Max. Always appreciate your videos. Thanks once again

Small magazine. I held one at Academy Sports yesterday and liked the weight, trigger pull, and balance.

  17. Tom Scott on March 7, 2023 at 2:55 am

I have a Sig P230 stainless. I watched this video to see if the glock 42 would be my replacement. Nope, the glock 42 failure to slide lock back on the last round is a deal breaker for me. I like all my guns (I own a glock 19 and a glock 26 too) to behave exactly the same way.

  18. Victor Keller on March 7, 2023 at 2:55 am

I’m sure like most Glocks it’s a good gun. Sig, Ruger also. But don’t forget the highly underrated BERSA Thunder. Alot less $ to boot!

  19. tayb da grimreaper on March 7, 2023 at 2:59 am

I have a 42 it’s a fine gun but I still will always prefer to carry my 19 or my 43x the 380 jus doesn’t have the same power for me to feel safe if I did need to defend myself

I have my first Glock on order. Nice review! 👍

  26. steven brown on March 7, 2023 at 3:07 am

I’m sure you are aware by now that the Glock 42 locks back after the last round is fired, yours was obviously malfunctioning.

  27. Renas Rebwar on March 7, 2023 at 3:08 am

    Nice👌🏻

  28. ⚠️DANGER DOBERMAN⚠️ on March 7, 2023 at 3:12 am

    .380 is nice…if you’re desperate >:0

It is cute though, NGL. I love firearms, but I only trust my life to Glocks. Been carrying a Glcok27 since 2010. LOVE IT! >:0

  31. FrugalPrepper's Garage and Garden on March 7, 2023 at 3:13 am

Thumbs are getting a free ride on the slide lock.

  32. Timid on March 7, 2023 at 3:13 am

Most common issue is your thumb basically hold the slide release which makes your gun not lock back idk how to explain it ik im late

  33. Screamin Yellow Mach on March 7, 2023 at 3:13 am

Glocks may not be the best looking, but man they always function!

  34. Ken PA on March 7, 2023 at 3:15 am

    Bad grip

  35. Cthulhu Poe on March 7, 2023 at 3:17 am

I have small hands and wrist .Is this a good gun to shoot ?

  36. KEVIN Richardson on March 7, 2023 at 3:17 am

Check out glock 42 10 round promag test

  37. Derp on March 7, 2023 at 3:19 am

Best gun to have is the one you WILL ACTUALLY CARRY……Have owned a Glock 17 for years but rarely carried it due to the size and weight. Since I got My Glock 42 it has never left my pocket. I really love it.

  38. Sensei Dolph on March 7, 2023 at 3:21 am

I would like a 42x with a 10 round mag that would be crazy 😮‍💨

  39. Jasper Wright on March 7, 2023 at 3:21 am

By now you know the slide should lock back on the last round.

  40. Tucker Lindsey on March 7, 2023 at 3:22 am

best video for this gun cus u actuaally have itt in frame with you for more tthan 1 second to actually see itts size lol

  41. Joseph on March 7, 2023 at 3:22 am

Timestamp 3:40 is a perfect example of a low IQ individual operating a weapon that is beyond their skill level. The last round slide closure isn’t a Glock 42 feature (as you falsely claim); it’s in fact being caused by your incorrect grip on the firearm. Specifically, your right thumb is riding the slide release. Had you tested the pistol with both hands, as in a proper review, you’d have noticed the problem go away when the gun was shot left-handed

  42. back endzup! on March 7, 2023 at 3:22 am

think i could smaxk one of those buttons on there?😅

  43. KRS ONE on March 7, 2023 at 3:24 am

Son just got me a G42

  44. Eliseo Delgadillo on March 7, 2023 at 3:25 am

It’s not a design feature. Your thumb is hitting the slide release, that’s why it doesn’t lock back.

  45. Anonymous Lee on March 7, 2023 at 3:25 am

The slide lock is probably because your right hand thumb is resting on the slide lock lever. It’s very common and not a huge issue if it doesn’t bother you and that grip method works for you.
