As a veteran and person who has been officially diagnosed with PTSD, I have to say yes, those who suffer from depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc should be allowed to own firearms. The need to have proper defense equipment is in no way diminished by having one of these issues, so limiting the access to firearms based on one of these issues is morally wrong. Anyone who would suggest that these people should be barred the use of firearms is guilty of devaluing the lives of a group of people based on health status. And there is no reason that a person such as myself should be forced to cut through miles of bureaucratic red tape just to prove that I am mentally capable of exercising my God-given, constitutionally protected right to keep and bear arms.

  4. HollywoodHornet on September 22, 2022 at 8:44 pm

I see you are a man of culture as well. The first gun I ever bought myself was also a 686+ with the Hogue grips, 4" barrel and full tang. I bought her new in early 2012.

  7. mike secrist on September 22, 2022 at 8:48 pm

It depends, most people with the conditions are not a danger to others. many are not a danger to the selves ether. the only good argument for it is the few that are a danger to themselves or others but of someone is a danger to themselves or others should they really be freely walking the streets

  8. Diarrhea Dan on September 22, 2022 at 8:48 pm

So citizens with mental health problems shouldn’t own guns but the police and military can use guns despite being 100% willing to murder somebody at the drop of a hat?

  9. FinnW on September 22, 2022 at 8:49 pm

It the new mfs or the mother f*cking shotgun

  10. That One Guy on September 22, 2022 at 8:49 pm

Everyone has the right to self defense.

  11. Dwayne Johnson on September 22, 2022 at 8:50 pm

With respect you are misunderstanding the question. The problem is not the shooters exposure to lead. It is the need to clean up the lead after the gun range has gone away. According to the EPA you cannot leave a gun range full lead jackets. It would be like leaving a house painted with 1000 coats of lead paint. Secondly, lead poison in such a manner effect mainly the old and the young.

  13. You Are the best on September 22, 2022 at 8:52 pm

The only time i have a real moment of silence and let all my problems disappear is when i look down the barrel and pull the trigger when hunting. I miss my gun.

Be your question; everyone has the right to be able to defend them selves. And I see no exception to the second amendment, shall not be infringed!

  16. Mastermind on September 22, 2022 at 8:55 pm

Who taught white people YEET? Don’t you vultures have any culture of your own?

  18. Shane Webber on September 22, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Catagorically segregating people suffering ptsd actively intimidates veteran Police and Military members and retirees from seeking the very needed help we owe them, their servitude very likely was a causing factor. They should never be made to fear or be intimidated by their condition. Super wrong!

  19. bobbob440 on September 22, 2022 at 8:59 pm

Spend $2000 on a 1911 lite that is 27oz or $900 on a Walther Q5 Match that is 27.9oz. Ill take my Walther.

Seer vice members need to scream from roof tops. Anyone suffering from Potsdam will have there privledge revoked as well

  22. The Allmighty on September 22, 2022 at 9:06 pm

To put it simply, it depends on why the person may be suffering from anxiety, depression, or PTSD. If the person is just an imbalanced individual and their problems are self-induced they likely are a danger to themselves and others. However, if someone is suffering as a result of injustice or just outright acts of evil perpetrated by deviants and reprobates who wish to bring harm to themselves and others, then being well armed could definitely be beneficial for all. Right now anyone with a conscience and self-awareness is suffering greatly from the state of the world and all the dysfunction constantly taking place. We’re living through a mass extinction event where animals and people are being killed off in droves while those still living must suffer oppression and abuse at the hands of their leaders and politicians who are now working overtime to sow chaos and division so the people can be divided and conquered.  The environment has been polluted in the extreme and it’s getting exponentially worse every day. Our very home and living environment is being destroyed right before our eyes. As well, what little freedom left that some people choose to enjoy is being eroded more and more, every single day. That’s why this discussion is taking place. The people’s guns are one of the biggest obstacles for those who wish to remain in power as they work against the very people they are supposed to serve. Whether it be mental health issues, or anything else they can think up, they are doing everything possible to disarm the people and vilify those who refuse to be disarmed and defenseless.

  23. Jamil Salih on September 22, 2022 at 9:07 pm

Have a yeet cannon , only problem is the constant double feed malfunction…yeah that’s actually a big problem lol.

  24. Skip Degraff on September 22, 2022 at 9:07 pm

Everyone should carry all the time.

  25. Gene Ard on September 22, 2022 at 9:08 pm

The question as poised is overly broad. Saying ‘depressed, anxiety and/or PTSD’ can mean anything from self diagnosis via interwebs to clinically diagnosed. Fun fact, anyone who is clinically diagnosed who harms themselves or others typically sue their therapist for not stopping them and in the case of harming others those others sue the shit out of clinicians all the time. If someone takes a bunch of pills we may have hours to do something to save the person, cut themselves might be non-fatal or they may know what to do and they have <3 minutes, hanging its 4 minutes unless the rope breaks, gun … Gonna need a good carpenter to patch the hole afterwards. Now those that act out and harm others with guns? Not gonna lie, those types rarely seek out care of any kind. Those who have guns, and are responsible with them, and know their mental health issues, know that when their mental state becomes problematic to hand the guns over to a trusted family member or friend. Depression can be bad, but not suicidal. Anxiety can be bad, but controllable. PTSD….can be quiescent, latent, or active, but from my experiences its never ‘cured’ and that can and does lead to depression, anxiety, substance use issues and a host of other issues. Guns are still the most common way and fastest way to end a life. ….its a discussion that is needed, and there are no cut and dried answers.

  26. Henry Rodgers on September 22, 2022 at 9:09 pm

686 FTW. Mine looks just like that. And I think it’s the 6" barrel, too!

Just checked. It is. Great gun. First 38/357 I ever shot.

Leftists: We need to figure out why these depressed white guys keep shooting up places.
Also Leftists: Everything bad is because of white men.

  34. john hilt on September 22, 2022 at 9:16 pm

I don’t think depression should determine whether you can defend your life.

  35. Zin on September 22, 2022 at 9:17 pm

youtube recommended this to me. i was not disappointed. but the real question is… how many people will be shouting "YEET!" as they pull the trigger?

  36. jack ploof on September 22, 2022 at 9:17 pm

I feel if some one has a problem with deperession they should not have there rights taken away and if they are under doctors care it should be up to the doctor to say if they should have them not the goverment.

  39. Boomchacle on September 22, 2022 at 9:23 pm

someone should make a full sized anti tank rifle chambered in 22 lr

  40. Gary Klein on September 22, 2022 at 9:25 pm

As a Veteran, a lifelong hunting enthusiast, a former cop, and a PTSD sufferer, I can relate to all sides of this issue. I only agree to nullifying a person’s second amendment rights because of mental issues in cases where the person is certifiably suicidal or easily provoked to violence. Most people prone to either extreme have demonstrated their predilection long before they cross the line seriously. Even then, there must be a physically and economically accessible appeals process for people who have been wrongly judged unfit to own firearms or have recovered from the suicidal level of depression. One measure I could wholeheartedly support would make family members living in the same household as a person known to be suicidal responsible for securing and keeping any household firearms out of the hands of the suicidal household member’s hands.

  41. Our life in Washington on September 22, 2022 at 9:28 pm
