How Guns Are Advertised In The U.S.

Most of the gun debate tends to focus on firearm production, distribution and consumerism as avenues for intervention. However, on Wednesday July 27th, the Committee on Oversight and Reform, will hold a hearing with the CEOs of gun manufacturers Daniel Defense, LLC, Smith & Wesson Brands, Inc., and Sturm, Ruger & Company, Inc. on their role in gun violence, specifically looking at the sales and marketing of their assault rifles.

There is currently no federal regulation on how guns are advertised, but many advocates for stricter firearm laws believe limiting the marketing of assault weapons could translate to fewer gun-related deaths.

I’m buying another just by watching your video and yes it’s full auto thanks, for letting me realize I needed it. And If we can’t have gun’s then cops neither.

  2. Desroy Rhone on January 3, 2023 at 1:00 am

The entire Caribbean and South America has been Destroyed by illegal guns from the usa.

  3. Barry Homebrew on January 3, 2023 at 1:01 am

From Jhon Wick to Jhon Wayne, Guns are being advertised in cinema. Gun violence laws are targeting the wrong symptom. We have a social problem, not a gun problem. We are raising our children wrong, if we are raising them at all.

  4. Zachariah Woodside on January 3, 2023 at 1:04 am

I have never seen guns just be advertised… usually gotta go looking for it

  5. Omar Slim on January 3, 2023 at 1:06 am

Movies, videogames, and rap music sparked my interest

  6. Austin Dumas on January 3, 2023 at 1:08 am

The only marketing I need for firearms is a much longer list of deaths from citizens of governments who didnt allow their people to have them

  7. DJ1244 on January 3, 2023 at 1:09 am

We live in a nation where you won’t see a commercial on TV about guns but politicians will blame guns on heinous acts yet every other commercial is from drug dealers showing you how happy you will be as long as you take their pills but no one talks about that.

  8. rebel_lion on January 3, 2023 at 1:10 am

why are they saying like guns are bad?

  9. Turd Burglar on January 3, 2023 at 1:10 am

The only weapons the United States needs to ban are the ATF, FBI, and IRS

  10. Josh Woods on January 3, 2023 at 1:11 am

You want people not to use the 2A while you’re using your 1A to spew bs about firearms 🤔 makes perfect sense

  11. Kyle Toppert on January 3, 2023 at 1:11 am

Safety and education are the most important thing for fire arm safety but I also think video games are a real danger it changes a kids personality specially violent ones

  12. Larry Ross on January 3, 2023 at 1:11 am

Ulvade was planned by some sick evil whacko! Those lives were expendable to reach a goal, those kids and those teachers didn’t matter. The police were in on the plan, the border patrol was not. Ask yourself what resulted from the murders at Ulvade, who benefited from the murders? Look at the big picture and use your common sense, look at the murderer and his circumstances. Why was Kyle Rittenhouse prosecuted? Why do the politiians want to disarm the folks who never broke a law, by passing a bill that allows the government to take away the arms of law abiding citizens and ignoring due process? Because the elites have plans for the country and you’re not on the winning side of the changes they have in store for us. Be prepared, we are in for some tough times!!!

My first Gun I picked was a gift for my 21st birthday back in 2012

I picked it because I was reading about the 1986 maimi shooting snd what the fbi did I response

    It’s a Glock 20 sf
    I still carry it today

    Should we also ban wikipedia?

Another thing gun advertising isn’t the issue at all anymore then car advertising is issue when I get a ticket for speeding

I think the anti 2a people just realize that banning guns isn’t working mass shooting deaths are spiking and have been for the past 10 years

Heck we have more mass shootings now in 2022 with a highly infringed 2a
Then we did in 1922 when we had unregulated machine guns

The anti 2a people just seem to be against individual accountability
I guess because individual accountability means being unable to to restrict the 2a en masse to people who have done nothing to warrent it

  14. Joseph Miller on January 3, 2023 at 1:14 am

9:53 Rem did NOT make an AR15 assault rifle that Lanza used!! Where’s your fkn journalistic integrity?

  15. Jpolloluver gaming on January 3, 2023 at 1:15 am

I love guns the closest thing to a gun add was gun toubers on yt

  16. E. P on January 3, 2023 at 1:15 am

So in other words… they want complete censorship of anything remotely firearm related?
How about the media stops glorifying and advertising mass shooters? Highly detailed accounts about who they are, their equipment and how they committed their atrocity… then they let the thing run for weeks and weeks and weeks… the amount of attention they give these people is fine I guess… instead of having their name lost and forgotten, they parade them around like some infamous villain for copycats to see and learn from. Good God🤦

  17. Panzer Lehr on January 3, 2023 at 1:15 am

Out of my cold dead hands!

  18. Rico Swartz on January 3, 2023 at 1:16 am

Yawn…. Just more anti gun propaganda.

  19. Stephen Pulcheon on January 3, 2023 at 1:17 am

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

  20. Donna Smith on January 3, 2023 at 1:17 am

Why don’t they just write "If you have a short D, or no D, buy our product. Guns are good for insecure "men" everywhere."

  21. Matthew Bartley on January 3, 2023 at 1:17 am

Politicians, Video Games, Movies, and Music.

All exceptionally well financed gun advertisers.
Left leaning politicians sell entire gun stores out of inventory the moment they talk about nonsensical dubious "common sense" gun control. And yet never explain how it stops crime
    They just circular logic.
Video Games.. the most popular are shooting and fighting games. Especially war games.
Movies.. always a good guy and a bad guy and they’re always using guns to do their business. Lol kind of odd this.
Music.. ahh who hasn’t heard a rap song or whatever else that glorifies killing, murder, and gatting other people for a variety of ridiculous reasons that justify walking away and ignoring people.. but instead were told to shoot them

Now those are just comically ineffective and foolish, like this video trying to paint guns and gun owners in a bad light. It’s a far left "political activist" op Ed media outlet that just would hesitate to call news even if they were the only game in town.

Tell you what. Let’s use your logic lefties.

If you don’t own a gun (legally) then you don’t get to have an opinion on them or how to regulate them.

  22. Kevin on January 3, 2023 at 1:18 am

we should all get gun and start shooting each other, this is america

  23. Reece Watson on January 3, 2023 at 1:18 am

There was just a study that showed in 2020 and 2021 the gun buy backs did NOTHING to stop or slow down any crime’s or other deaths in Philadelphia. So firearms advertising doesn’t do squat to make criminals go buy gun, stupid criminals don’t buy guns. The Philadelphia gun buy back proves that too. Because not one gun had been used in any crimes.

  24. Brian Winters on January 3, 2023 at 1:19 am

I have been teaching my 11-year-old grandson to shoot. When I he knew about it he showed him an ar he said he had learned about them from Halo and other video games.

  25. Casey on January 3, 2023 at 1:19 am

Carry a gun. Nobody is coming to save you

  26. Ryan B on January 3, 2023 at 1:21 am

At no point does this video mention the right to keep and bear arms is a constitutional right…. Great job cnbc

  27. Vida Motel on January 3, 2023 at 1:25 am

Just keep praying for the people that will continue to die at the hand of these guns.

They don’t just show them anywhere willy nilly…. you get what you search for. I’m not going to see add for racing helmets unless I’m on sites relating to racing helmets. Specialized tools will be marketed only on places where they know people are actually interested in such things….

  30. FPVDriver on January 3, 2023 at 1:29 am

People in China, North Korea are banned to own firearm.

  31. PMA nameless on January 3, 2023 at 1:30 am

When medical errors claim 13x more, all of the top 10 causes are healthcare related, & guns make up a fraction of a single % of the total on a bad year, well I’d say priorities are misplaced. But that should’ve already been obvious, otherwise they wouldn’t need to lie about functions or statistics. This rifle for instance is literally one of the weakest of all, only 22lr & alike are less & all popular hunting rounds are more powerful. Calling it "high powered" is a joke, but they still say it. Its like them being shock a rifle shots thru a pistol rated helmet, why wouldn’t it its rated for pistols, so disingenuous. Grips are to hold, collapsing stocks are to adjust to size, "shrouds" are to prevent burns & all hunting rifles have them, & magazines have been standard reloading method for decades, demonizing common parts let alone parts that make it safer to handle is absurd & obviously an excuse. Ffs congress actually argued a stationary pc of plastic, a brace, made them auto when its an impossibility. They refuses to research & instead stuck to their ridiculous statements for hours because it served their agenda. It’s exhausting but Im sure its just semantics right, lol ok sure.

  32. miamibeachvf on January 3, 2023 at 1:30 am

CNBC a domestic terrorist organization that hides behind journalism to push fake news propaganda one-sided anti Second Amendment this is put together for the anti-gun activist to help their agenda of domestic terrorists and socialism

  33. Vincent Nguyen on January 3, 2023 at 1:32 am

The gun debate is a hard one. I think we should either have no gun restrictions or no guns at all like Australia. But unfortunately neither will be possible. The middle ground will probably never be found and this debate will never end.

  34. Vlad Ostrov on January 3, 2023 at 1:34 am

Should we start regulating the free speech ?

  35. Brian Winters on January 3, 2023 at 1:35 am

Professor Jourdan from Drew University in New Jersey and I a Drew Alum differ on the gun issue. I am a gun owner of 48 years and have fired over 300 k rounds and have never violated any lgun laws.

  36. Thndr_ on January 3, 2023 at 1:37 am

If politicians hate guns so much then honestly the best thing they can do is leave it alone because whenever they try to ban them sales spike.

  37. Special Agent Noble on January 3, 2023 at 1:38 am

F’ your troubled young teen kid. Not my problem…..

  38. quippy on January 3, 2023 at 1:38 am

A normal country would have videos titled: "How bridges are built in …. "

  39. E. P on January 3, 2023 at 1:40 am

Lmao 90% of gun people have never even seen these advertisements before… like where do these new channels even find this crap?

  40. Todd Werther on January 3, 2023 at 1:40 am

Mostly people that could never be accepted in the military want to cosplay and feel a need to "belong" to something… it’s the folks who go to WWE, buy Trump coins, and are easily tricked into thinking it’s somehow "american". Nothing wrong with guns, it’s how their marketed to the rubes that’s the problem. What was meant to be a tool has changed into a personality.

  41. Justin Smith on January 3, 2023 at 1:42 am

I’ll tell you what gun control is BEING ABLE TO HIT YOUR TARGET

  42. friedchicken123 on January 3, 2023 at 1:44 am

    obama = best gun salesman

  43. Ardzye on January 3, 2023 at 1:47 am

Quit calling them assault rifles. They are not assault rifles and never will be. They are semi-automatic rifles.

  44. JozipF. Alonzo on January 3, 2023 at 1:49 am

This video is almost a carbon copy of their "Why Americans Are Hellbent On Buying AR-15 Guns" video. Just as that video almost came close to maybe considering the possibility of thinking about having a shadow of impartiality, this "companion piece" uses the same formulaic blueprint.

Their agitprop is almost getting better but is still betrayed by the same problem their other video(s) are plagued with. In order to sound/seem like reasonably balanced pieces, you have to add a degree of unvarnished truth. A majority of the "evidence" against the position(s) attacked must be seen to be more reasonable than those supporting the alternate view. Their lack of evidence based information & heavily saturated "this sounds good" – "This feels good" drivel may not be informative but then again, it doesn’t really need to be as it isn’t designed to inform. It is designed to confirm.

  45. K Bar on January 3, 2023 at 1:50 am

The assault rifle ban was when someone shot at the White House. Clinton’s life apparently was in NO DANGER whatsoever from this shooter but when he felt SLIGHTLY threatened, he acted to protect HIMSELF. This was not to protect the citizens in any way, but to protect politicians in power.

  46. J Poppinga on January 3, 2023 at 1:51 am

Ever notice that shooting events never experienced an uptick until we starting cracking down on "child abuse"???

Or when we started teaching kids that there were "special" and entitled.

A school shooting is at the end of the day, a temper tantrum.

  47. Dutch07 on January 3, 2023 at 1:53 am

The fact that this entire report is completely false. They are not Assualt weapons. For the love of god; stop with the false reports. Actually do your job and educate yourself. Do love the hypocrisy pointed out by T rex arms. They are going after guns but not entertainment, drugs, beer, vehicle, or sexual adds. ALL more deadly by over 10 times the ammount yearly.

  48. capt retired on January 3, 2023 at 1:53 am

i felt i needed to arm myself ,i chose a 12 ga. shotgun, because of the democrats soft on crime policies. we had a kid arrested in our neighborhood for home invasion. it was his forth arrest for burgery. and he had assault charges dropped in two of them for a plea deal. im done. the first person that enters my home uninvited will have some explaining to do.

  49. Erik on January 3, 2023 at 1:57 am

  50. YorktownUSA on January 3, 2023 at 1:59 am

They’re marketed like any other product. And like any other product, criminals use them. The end.
