Inforce WMLx Rifle Light Performance Review
Inforce WMLx Rifle Light Performance Review
A very ergonomic, multi-mode light. The WMLx by Inforce, I feel has solved some issues with the classic tail cap buttons and tape switches. Here I give my review plus, some historical background concerning white lights on military rifles.

I’ve run one top mounted on our home defense 9mm AR and like it. For one, there isn’t much rail space with the 8” barrel so putting one at the 3 or 9 o’clock makes for an awkward grip on the hand-guard. Also, my wife is a lefty and having it top mounted makes it easy to use with either support hand. Downside is I can’t use backup irons but I have a T2 on it and gun is only for home defense so I’m not too worried about needing them.
Your channel is one of my favorites. Very underrated channel. Keep up the excellent work!
Buy this or sure-fire. Only two I found made in the USA. If there’s any other weapon lights made in the USA. I couldn’t find it. China has taken a monopoly on lights.
I’ve got current generation of the short body WML, they flicker in cold weather. Which was quite strange as it’s entire life has been on my helmets as an umbrella light.
I absolutely love watching your vids! It doesn’t matter what topic you cover, it’s always interesting. Although, it does help that I also love the subject material too
Maybe future videos about the preferred holographic sights, suppressors, gun slings, magazines, etc for ya preferred firearms?
I really like the Inforce long gun lights
Jeff, are you also setting up a Rumble or Utreon channel? Is Youtube giving you issues? Keep up the strong work. Your reviews are great.
You’re like a young Kent Hackathorn
i like to put it on the top and move the front backup sight back behind my support hand. I’m far from an operator but it works for me, just food for thought
Another quality video, appreciated!
I’ve found the WML on the top rail allows me to activate it with either hand
I picked up a 2nd gen one of these years ago. I never had problems with the polymer body personally, but the light tended to flicker and drop in output if the battery was anything less than brand new. When it worked it was great, but that kept becoming a problem and decided to move on. Maybe I had a faulty one. I will say I 100% agree on the ergonomics and use of this thing, especially given the price point it’s hard to not at least try one out.
I have one and like it. I just wish they would make an aluminum version.
At 1:27, is that a FSP gas block with the sight part cut off?
I love all your old pics of rifle set ups, I don’t think I’ve seen that one… why have a rear sight w/o a front?
I got the wmlx and wmlir on rifles that see law enforcement style work daily. Zero issues thus far. My wmlx is going on 5 years of service
I like mine mounted on the strong side on a 45° mount.

Could of token the light off rather than to have a rifle looking at one of your buddies
Can you do more video on the Tavor ? Preferably the x95. Especially on its philosophy of use and good optics for it.
Thanks for another great video. I’ve been running my WMLx on a Magpul M-LOK Offset Picatinny Rail Mount and the ergonomics are outstanding.
I own several of these and have used them on everything from .22 to 12ga without a hiccup. I was aware of the early faults and somewhat skeptical, so I bought just one and threw it on a 12 ga for testing. Based on the reliability, ergos and overall design these are now my go-to light.
I have a few of these on rifles and an IR version on my helmet on an Echo Arms velcro mount. It’s light so I don’t notice any weight difference. With the Echo mount I can move it around or even detach it and put the light right where I need it. So far all of my WMLs have held up to range, training, and competition use.
Agree! Easy to set up on any rifle and ergo / synergy is repeatable
I will just save my money and buy surefire ir modlite. People need to learn to save for better American made products. Chinese quality on a self-defense gun is a bad idea.
Awesome video sir 😀
I sent them a light for warranty work back on 12/13 and now I’ve been trying to get a hold of someone for 3 weeks. They won’t answer emails or phone calls. Highly recommend going with ANYONE else 😂
as if the vid is not good enough, he gives a URGI review to look forward to
I have one of the smaller originals (Gen 1) I bought years ago that’s still going strong. I recently bought the larger Gen 2) model and really like it. It takes a tremendous amount of heat from my suppressor (11.5” piston gun) at least once a week and it hasn’t killed it yet. I’m not easy on it either. I don’t go to public ranges and just sit at a bench. We’re in the creek and in the woods. I’m always smashing my suppressor and light on sh*t. I know it’s not as cool as other lights with pressure switches but it works for me. Same with my waaaaay out dated quad rail. It gets the job done but I would like a modern hand guard. I like strobe too.
Love the single battery WMLs for PDWs and bag guns. The ability to lock out the bezel and the button guard mean you don’t have a dead battery when it is time to use it. And the IR option at that price point is great.
Great info as usual senor.
Thanks Jeff! I used hand held strobes doing entries (over a decade ago… Lord… I’m old!😂) but had to go 3-400 bucks for IR / white light with NO strobe after adding NVGs to the mix.
I have a light weight build that needs a light, and will order one and hopefully not destroy it.
God Bless. My best to you and yours!
Ergos are 2nd to none….but their reliability is still lacking unfortunately. Also they don’t keep up in regards to output and beam pattern. The ergos are so good tho it ALMOST makes up for it.
Strobing a rare function? I have trouble finding a flashlight without strobing! I personally hate strobing.
Excellent explanation here! A lot of people were wondering why devgru adopted wml over surefire and this video makes complete sense ❤
What’s the IR battery life ?
I only use WMLs. My brother recommended them to me after he used them on a few deployments. He did have an issue with the polymer getting fragile and discoloring because of heat damage from a long firefight.
Had two original single cell models not long after I saw Travis Haley promoting them. Both developed hairline cracks along the tube body while mounted to two rifles that saw very little use. Sent them back to Inforce and when the replacements showed up, I transitioned them to my helmets to use as nav lights where they have been ever since.
How did you do in the Gundies? I gave you as many votes as I could
I’ve always seen Inforce compared to Olights as far as durability/quality so I was surprised to see that you were running one. I can’t wait to see this review
12:02 I wouldn’t be surprised is that was frank proctors gun 😂
I picked up one of these in 2013ish . These used to come with BCM HSP JACK Carbine . It was the Single Batt Model . Unfortunately mine broke in a short period of time . The mounting bracket snapped in half from 2ft fall . I had my Carbine leaning up against bench and it fell over and broke .
I have not tried another since then . One of my shooting buddies has the Gen2 800 Lumen model and loves it . He uses it on his MK18 SBR .
I wish it had little bit more Candela but for HD or CQB situation it’s probably more than enough .
Nice video bro..
Cant wait for the USASOC URGI VS M4A1 SOCOM Eval . I’ll always be a sucker for M4A1 Block II & MK18 MOD O lol..
Hi Jeff, thanks for the video.
Just wanted to ask, I remember I found, quite some time ago, a WML variant where the switches worked differently, where the toggle lever switched from constant to strobe, and quickly double-clicking the button switched from permanent on/off to temporary push-button mode. Is it an older model?
Love your content btw
Another great video. I’m still not sure that I am a fan of the WML light but that may be because I am just a creature of habit (15 years of surefire tail cap/tape switch use).
A wrong handed shooter shooting an AR? Jeeeez man how’s all that gas lol?
I too had an original one and several of the new ones, cant beat the design and price for them.
I remember the problems when these first came out and stayed clear of them since. You’re recommendation kinda took me by surprise, maybe I’ll take another look
Great to see new videos replacing the ones missing in action.
Could you use this light for a handgun?
I’m a former 18B and have worked in the Nightclub industry for 20 years. Most of that in violent/dangerous R&B clubs.
I’m a big fan of the strobe feature. The effect of the strobe feature was invaluable to me, Whether it was to signal Law Enforcement down the street or for disorientation of combative individuals or situations.
Like you I have seen a lot of videos and internet threads that basically "Boo-Hoo" the value of the strobe feature on lights, and personally i don’t understand the reasoning behind it?
Again, I found the strobe feature extremely effective and valuable.
My first light with the strobe feature was the BlackHawk Gladius.
I’m assuming that the individuals that discount the strobe feature are primarily "Flat range Commandos" or individuals that don’t find themselves in environments conducive to the use of a strobe. Obviously, that will impact someone’s perspective on the uselessness of some tactics but for those of us who live in the real world with combative individuals and dangerous environments….. our perspective is a lot different.
I’m in the market for a light. Thanks to your video, experience and insight, I’m now considering the Inforce WML.
I appreciate your Channel and content. It provides valuable info and insight. I, unlike you was not on a Team for very long (Medical) and was not afforded the opportunity to acquire or be exposed to the experiences that you did. Watching your channel gives me a peek into a world that I got close to but was never able to experience.
