Guns had always been effective since they were first invented. Chinese used them to hurl bullet fire giant balls and launch rockets.

While after the technology was created by the Portuguese for 200 years there’s was no match for the Portuguese, Britain only went to Asia thanks to us black powder and the theory about the Chinese being credited for is creation is rebutted many times most evidence point to Japan 🇯🇵 and guns as we know it was the Portuguese

China invented handcannons long before gunpowder reached the West. But effective firearms didn’t come around until the West had gunpowder for a while themselves.

0:45 look how filthy, wretched and barbarous Europe was before gunpowder!

  22. WackySwacky on November 13, 2021 at 12:18 am

Chinese alchemists discovered gunpowder around the 140s. After a millennia, they had developed several ways to use it in warfare: fire arrows, fire lances, ceramic bombs, cannons, and hand cannons. The Chinese however did not develop firearms any further than the hand cannon. Once the knowledge of gunpowder and hand cannons reached Europe and became wide spread in the 1320s, the Europeans went on to invent the slow match, the serpentine (a lever that could hold the lit match for the user, allowing them to aim and fire the gun more effectively), the gun stock, the matchlock, rifling, the wheellock, the snaplock, the flintlock, the percussion lock, and finally self-contained metallic cartridges.

A German Fryer of the Order of St. Francis, called Bertholdus Swart, being very studious of Chymistry, as he was one Evening (for the finding out of some Experiment) very busie in tempering Brimstone, Sul∣phureous powder of dryed Earth, and certain other Ingredients in a Mor∣ter, which he covered with a stone: When it grew dark, he took his Tin∣der-box to light him a Candle, a Sparke whereof by chance flying into the Mortar, caught hold of the Brimstone, and Salt-Peter, and firing, with a sud∣den flash blew up the stone. The cunning Chymist gues [ gap: 1 letter ] ng what it was which wrought this effect, never left till he found out the certainty, and then taking an Iron Pipe, he crammed it full of the same Ingredient, together with some stones, and so putting fire to it, he saw that with great fury, and noise it discharged it self: Soon after which, he communicated this his In∣vention to the Venetians, who, having been often vanquished by the Geno∣wayes, did by the help of these Bombards, or Guns, give them a notable dis∣comfiture. Anno Christi 1380. Bucholtz.
