Italy's Sleeper Submachine Gun: The Beretta 38A

Italy's Sleeper Submachine Gun: The Beretta 38A

The Beretta 38A is not a gun that comes to mind for many people today when discussing World War Two submachine guns, but at the time it was one of the most desirable guns of its type. So – does it live up to that reputation?

Lol. Unless you have a magic infinite ammo magazine, running out of ammo is not a malfunction.

  2. andrea ronchetti on December 26, 2022 at 12:54 am

    Bellissima

  3. Nicola Croce on December 26, 2022 at 1:01 am

    It’s a beautiful gun, 🇮🇹

  4. Michael Guerin on December 26, 2022 at 1:02 am

Held one once, in a police reference library of guns. Beautiful piece of kit. Would love to fire one but would probably have to visit a place like the U.S.A. or Switzerland, etc.

  10. battlelord42 on December 26, 2022 at 1:10 am

Maine winter with a pleasant SMG? Cozy vibes all around.

  11. Mark Gee on December 26, 2022 at 1:12 am

Can be also found in the hands of the Mafia gangsters in Italy😎

  12. Martin Sage on December 26, 2022 at 1:14 am

Compared to other WWII SMG this is a well designed gun.

  13. PureBloodHeretic on December 26, 2022 at 1:14 am

    SMG Music ❤️

  14. PAUL FREDRICK - KEG on December 26, 2022 at 1:16 am

First firearm I ever shot. During bootcamp in Italy in the 1980s. Mine didn’t have the barrel shroud though (slightly later model). We also had a more modern SMG, I think it was called the Beretta M-12.

  15. Gostwriterindisguise on December 26, 2022 at 1:18 am

    2:03 "magazine shroud"!

  16. SolidBlueBlocks on December 26, 2022 at 1:22 am

Best in ww2 – worst in bfv

  17. Jazzmaster Jay on December 26, 2022 at 1:23 am

Does the bolt hit the rear? It looks to have generous allowance for bolt travel. Constant recoil?

  18. JOHN KAUFMAN on December 26, 2022 at 1:24 am

That sounds like my mom’s sewing machine.

  19. Max Davies on December 26, 2022 at 1:24 am

    Cast forged alloy chassis.
    Same design.

  20. IlCorsaroLoquendista™ on December 26, 2022 at 1:26 am

I’m Italian, and I really liked this video, because in the Second World War, we didn’t have a good reputation, and in this video, you rate an Italian machine gun, with the right respect, thanks for the nice words. Greetings from Italy

  21. Paul Balogh on December 26, 2022 at 1:27 am

Never underrated or appreciated. My favorite platform of all time. Very rare & very $$. M49/57 is in my future.

  22. Dov Krumm on December 26, 2022 at 1:29 am

There it is. That’s the North African WW2 weapon I’d been asking about. Lol

  23. Solo Moto on December 26, 2022 at 1:29 am

LOL running out of ammo is a malfunction

  24. MrPanzerDragoon on December 26, 2022 at 1:30 am

I have watched almost ALL of Ian’s videos, but this is the first video I have ever seen where I fully understood how a compensator worked. Mainly due to the design.

  25. Scott Tyson on December 26, 2022 at 1:30 am

Even sounds like it has a sound reducers

  26. Giorgio Cesarini on December 26, 2022 at 1:31 am

    But was expensive to produce

  27. Paul Schafers on December 26, 2022 at 1:32 am

I’m very surprised Ian didn’t buy it himself!

  28. Kid Mohair on December 26, 2022 at 1:32 am

    "….the Axis had access…"

  29. Woodshop Squared on December 26, 2022 at 1:34 am

The Papal police had semi auto ones with only the one trigger. VERY rare guns!

This is the magazine that the Israelis copied for the Uzi.

  30. Max Davies on December 26, 2022 at 1:34 am

    Looks like a nice tool.

  31. smn stv on December 26, 2022 at 1:35 am

I unironically saw co2 airsoft rifles have more recoil that this MAB

  32. Max Davies on December 26, 2022 at 1:35 am

    Very nice.
    Kjw ?

  33. Mike H. on December 26, 2022 at 1:35 am

The Rolex of early smg’s. Beretta was and is the premiere of gun makers.

  34. Federico Franchini on December 26, 2022 at 1:36 am

Thank you to post this video👍🏻

  35. Max Davies on December 26, 2022 at 1:37 am

The Barretta sub is basically a rolls greaser.

  36. thurstone78 on December 26, 2022 at 1:37 am

    where is the recoil?

  37. Teurastaja on December 26, 2022 at 1:39 am

    What a beauty!

  38. puroMASTERITA on December 26, 2022 at 1:39 am

perhaps this is the best weapon that we Italians have made, the others are uncomfortable or difficult to build

  39. AmericoRmoney on December 26, 2022 at 1:39 am

Crazy how the Italians could make such a great sub machine gun, but an absolute shit ass light machine gun. It’s like the Italians are capable of only two things, absolute brilliance, or absolute failures. 😂😂😂

  40. Mike Manners on December 26, 2022 at 1:40 am

    Italians do it better….

  41. Wojak Irl on December 26, 2022 at 1:43 am

Incredibile how we managed to create one of the best submachine gun in history but being defeated by the Greeks

  42. Gianluca Florá on December 26, 2022 at 1:43 am

This machine gun doesn’t have recoil!! Its like an airsoft gun!!

  43. Paul Padoan on December 26, 2022 at 1:44 am

    It seems so smooooth!

  44. Black Listed on December 26, 2022 at 1:44 am

aaah so that’s what it is. There’s a great picture of 2 British soldiers being treated by 2 Italian nurses in Catania Sicily, 1943, one of the Brits has this rifle slung over his shoulder

  45. Ben Burns on December 26, 2022 at 1:48 am

I like the fact that the barrel doesn’t look like a wet noodle when being fired full auto. When you watch some of the WW2 sub guns in slow Mo. It’ looks like they’re made out of PVC

  46. Anonymous Washington Center on December 26, 2022 at 1:50 am

nice video. take a shot of whiskey prior and your joke deliveries will be solid. trust me it works

  47. Juan fermin on December 26, 2022 at 1:51 am

    I’m like " where’s the Recoil? Lol

  48. Francesco Aloisio on December 26, 2022 at 1:51 am

    Great! Good job!

  49. Nicolò Frassine on December 26, 2022 at 1:52 am

the weapons produced by beretta were spectacular, but they were used in a wrong war that the italian people did not want because it was under dictatorship

  50. PRAZ CuRay on December 26, 2022 at 1:53 am

    That is an amazing gun
