Larue MBT, as good as Geissele? [REVIEW] (1100 rounds)

The Larue MBT, this thing is probably the best deal on the market.
Not only is it cheap (90 bucks or less). But it competes with the best of them. Is it the best trigger? No. But it’s really close.
It doesn’t mask a poor trigger by being ultralight weight.
With a great trigger weight (~4lbs), very clean pull, and defined walled. This is a textbook case of outclassing the whole market.
I foresee the MBT being the gold standard, with the Geissele SSA line becoming more of a “no expense spared” alternative.

I love my MBT’s. For me the square edge is great for consistency because that is exactly where I put the crease of my first knuckle. I know my finger placement is the same every single time when I feel the edge. I do understand why some people may not like it as opposed to a more traditional rounded face.

Did I detect a little Flannel Daddy envy there, lol. I have both. I prefer the G. However, you can’t beat the price of the mbt and they are so close.

The fact people are still buying and talking about this trigger says a lot. I’ve purchased and tried a lot of AR15 triggers from Geissele SSA-E, to Hiperfire PDIs, to Rise Armament RA-535/RA-140/RA-242/RA-434, CMC, Velocity, to nickel boron and standard mil specs. I’ve never tried a LaRue MBT-two stage but the more I learn about the company and trigger the more I’m about to "pull the trigger" and purchase one. I’ll be honest though, I’ve never been disappointed in an aftermarket trigger so far as they all have improved the mil spec trigger. Single stages are a different animal than 2 stage triggers but I’m interested to see how well it truly holds against the all powerful Geissele.

I just had Santa order me one because iv recently gotten pissed over all my drop ins getting fouled when suppressed for too long. Had me so pissed I started comparing all my milspec triggers. I did find I threw some really good colt triggers aside. Somehow they are really good compared to other milspec. But whatever. Just want a bang no matter the filth of my gat

  5. Slappopotamus on May 3, 2023 at 4:04 am

I have Larue triggers, 2 stage and single. I have a CMC single stage, a Geissele G2S and an "enhanced Mil-spec" trigger from Spike’s. Larue’s 2s triggers are amazing for the money. The CMC 1s is better than the Larue, enough so that if you can find the CMC on sale you should buy it over the Larue, is seeking 1s. The Spike’s nickel boron coated and polished trigger is friggin amazing for how cheap it was. I want to get an ALG ACT to try out next. I like my Giessele, but i will never buy another one unless i find a cheap used one. The ultimate triggers i have used have been TriggerTech, super expensive 1s and 2s, in some gucci rifles i’ve built. They feel absolutely incredible, but i would not use them in "battle rifles". I worry about their reliability when very dirty.

All AR-15 triggers are really good

Tbh I really like my milspec KAK trigger

Man quit revealing my secret trigger. I can’t get one whenever I want now.

  9. Mike Brown on May 3, 2023 at 4:08 am

Seriously? The great debate?! And only 16K views? Just ordered the LARUE trigger. Thanks man, love your work!

  10. OmegaBahn on May 3, 2023 at 4:09 am

I have a G2S, RR NM 2S and this MBT 2S. Like you said, the MBT slightly outs the G2S.

  11. The10thManRules on May 3, 2023 at 4:09 am

Yeah but the MBT comes in a dip can so…

  14. That Guy on May 3, 2023 at 4:11 am

Have MBT-2s and Geissele SSA-E. Geissele may be a smidge cleaner but prefer the shoe on the MBT.

I agree with your findings. I have owned a Flat face mbt 2 trigger at the same time as a Geissele SSA and SSA-E triggers and I would rate the Larue slightly better than the SSA, and slightly behind the SSA-E. I wound up selling the SSA and buying 2 more Larue’s. I still have the SSA-E in a precision build as it is such a nice trigger. If I were to do it all over I would just buy the MBT’s as they are the best bang for the buck.

  18. Jeremy Watson on May 3, 2023 at 4:14 am

Even if the giselle is better its not $100-150 better

  19. Future Phonk on May 3, 2023 at 4:17 am

What optic did you have in the opening montage?

  20. RA- FIGUEROA on May 3, 2023 at 4:17 am

BRASS FACTS ,, I totally agree.. I did allot of AR trigger research and found LARUE to be the most cost effective and a performance quality trigger. The LARUE is a top shelf contender to the top over priced expensive brand line up of AR TRIGGERS.. I have them installed on all of AR.s.. My only complaint is, I wish LARUE never discontinued the small METAL CAN packaging of there MBT trigger.. The new MBT plastic container sucks..

  21. harrold m on May 3, 2023 at 4:19 am

It’s a tobacco product. Mark said they just grow these triggers. I live in the black patch and will try an acre of it.

  22. Spear Fish on May 3, 2023 at 4:19 am

IMHO it is just as good as a double the price Geissele and I have four AR’s with Geissele’s in them. I will buy MBT’s from now on.

  23. John P on May 3, 2023 at 4:21 am

Do curved triggers provide more consistent finger placement over flat triggers on rifles? Do you prefer the Larue MBT curved or straight version?

  24. Brian on May 3, 2023 at 4:23 am

    NO, 1:15 intro? NO

  25. darrin ray on May 3, 2023 at 4:24 am

Um.. the mbt IS better than the SSAE especially bc of the ugly feeling curve of the trigger bow but the SSAEX are exceptionally nice. Alighted better than the flatly MBT2S

Another incredibly informative and enjoyable video. Not ever gonna get tired of great content like this

  27. Rich on May 3, 2023 at 4:25 am

Prices went up to $118 now. Bummer.

  28. Now or Never on May 3, 2023 at 4:25 am

👎🏻 I have a Geissele SDE. The MBT definitely is not as good as Geissele. The pre travel is not linear and has a noticeable hump. I paid $120 two months ago. Now down to $99 as of Black Friday 2021. Perhaps it’ll go down to $80, which is what I’m hearing it used to cost. Or rather it should and also change its stupid name. It IS definitely an upgrade from the mail spec, but is it meticulously built. No, far from it. Built with a compromise. There is your new name MBT…. BWAC.

  29. Markius Fox on May 3, 2023 at 4:26 am

Get a mil-spec trigger from Luth AR a shot. I have a FA and a Burst FCG from them, and they are both head and shoulders above the trigger I had to use on my M4. It is a heavy pull, around 8lbs, but the surfaces are really smooth.

  30. 2A Michael J on May 3, 2023 at 4:29 am

LaRue MBT-2S was $107 shipped. The Geissele SSA-E was $180 shipped so you could look at the savings as a Toolcraft BCG, 150 rounds of green tips or about $80 saves in pocket. Had I got on the LaRue bandwagon when they were $85 and Geisseles were $240 then it made more economical sense.

I was contemplating buying one of these. Your review sold me so I finally “pulled the trigger.”

  34. Wheel Guns 4 Wheel Men on May 3, 2023 at 4:35 am

Have experience with Geissele triggers and have been looking for a good 2-stage 4 lbs trigger that is substantially cheaper. Going to go with this one.

  35. Levi King on May 3, 2023 at 4:36 am

B roll looks great! Also congrats on the 1K my guy!

  36. Nikefan45 on May 3, 2023 at 4:38 am

Love these triggers (I have 4) and when they were on sale for $80 they were a steal. My opinion it’s just as good as a Geissele.

  37. Bender B. Rodríguez on May 3, 2023 at 4:39 am

7 years ago I was able to buy a G$ g2s from dpms for 99$, wish I had got a couple more at the time.
Absolutely hate installing that trigger, when I can get my hands on another adm uic lower it will forever be the last time I move that trigger and I would rather sell the lower with the trigger than take it out.

  38. MeNo Pillion on May 3, 2023 at 4:39 am

When I built an AR a couple years ago and needed a trigger, I went with the Larue. I really like the trigger. If feels really nice. Larue is keeping the price reasonable. Maybe the Geissele is better, but this trigger is really good, and I’ve never looked back.

  39. Charmingmander on May 3, 2023 at 4:39 am

I love these triggers. Using them in all my ARs for years. Friends and family love them too.

  40. Dorian Crayy on May 3, 2023 at 4:42 am

Lol you’re pulling the milspec mojo

  41. Саша on May 3, 2023 at 4:44 am

I got a wild hair one day and threw a CMC 2-stage in my rig and it’s simply bliss. Granted, expensive as all get out, but it gets comment anytime I pass my rifle off. Dead on with their "lighter than usual" as mine is light (2.5lb if I recall, no gauge to confirm).

  42. TheReptileCult on May 3, 2023 at 4:44 am

Fellow Utah shooter here I know exactly where you are shooting! Great spot I need to get back out there now that my LMT upper and a bunch of ammo came.

  43. Carl Andrews on May 3, 2023 at 4:45 am

Trigger gods f’ing with me hard lately. I was lookin for new trigger and between Larue mbt, Geisselle SSA, and Alg ACT. Decided to go for middle of road on price and got Larue MBT2s. It was after I purchased the Larue, Geiselle has Easter sale and I got ALG ACT for 55 bucks shipped, I figured hey I had another rifle I can throw it it. The next day PSA flash sale Geisselle SSA $155, of course I bought it. Now after researching 3 diff triggers in effort to decide on one, I have all 3. Big trigger made me do it !!!! Looking back idk if I made best choice with SSA vs SSAE, time will tell tho.

This trigger is to AR triggers what the Romeo5 is to red dots. You get a fantastic trigger for the money and even if you were to spend twice as much on some other offerings I am not sure you get a better trigger. I am surprised it is not better known in the industry as THE go to ar trigger.

    Subscribed btw.
