Marlin 795 Extended Magazine Test by Deuce and Guns

I test the only extended magazine currently available for the excellent Marlin 795 rifle. The magazine is made by ProMag and I purchased it with my own money and give an honest review.

  2. ZRUS Outdoors Channel on September 22, 2022 at 8:46 pm

Im gonna have to pick some of these up!

  3. Lee Jordan on September 22, 2022 at 8:47 pm

    Wasn’t that 1st one 27 rounds?

  4. MAC Daddy on September 22, 2022 at 8:47 pm

I’m happy with my model 60. 18 rounds in the tube is enough for me and I don’ t punish my fingers either.

  5. palumbo78 on September 22, 2022 at 8:47 pm

Question for ya bud? I have an old marlin 70 model. Do those home the same magazines as the 795? I can’t seem to get a hold of anyone at marlin to get this answer 🤬
Also, how are those pro magazines holding up to date? Any known issues since I’m sure you’ve shot them quite a bit by now. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏼 great video by the way!

  6. A Memester on September 22, 2022 at 8:50 pm

It’s not the only extended mag. There’s a 70 round too.

  7. Dave Rogers on September 22, 2022 at 8:50 pm

Yeah , they’re plastic , but it’s reall good plastic . I doubt that anyone could make a 25 round steel mag that runs as reliable as this ProMag .
I’ve got 4 of them . Only load them with 20 for the most part . No need to put your thumb through the punishment for the last 5 . You can even go 22 rounds without punishing your thumb .
I’ve got steel 20 round Promags for my Mini 14 . They all run smooth . One of them had a little hang up at first but after the second mag full it now runs great . No idea why ProMag gets a bad rap .

Nice video. I always enjoy watching them. I just got a Marlin 795 and took it to the range with the 10 round mag that it comes with. I am seriously considering buying this Pro-Mag 25 rounder after watching this review. Thanks again. I subscribed a while ago.

  9. Randy Stanley on September 22, 2022 at 8:51 pm

Hey, great video, I have the same set up as you. The magazine was flawless, until around 300 or more rounds. The gun was really dirty. Keep that in mind, thanks!

  10. Julio Gonzo on September 22, 2022 at 8:51 pm

No bolt hold open equals effed firing pin if you don’t count shots you’ll dry fire it once per magazine. Too bad they didn’t make it work

  11. Torin Klotz on September 22, 2022 at 8:57 pm

Didn’t lock back because the factory mag stops the bolt from closing??

  12. Rare Form on September 22, 2022 at 9:00 pm

your scope cost more then gun . my $ 7.00 scope runs well and fits the 795 slim ! have two pro mags bolt open perfectly .

  13. Michael Howe on September 22, 2022 at 9:00 pm

The first one was 27, I think you can fit 28 rounds in those magazines. They’re 25-28 rounds

  14. Pelham’s Aquatics on September 22, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Great video and great information presented in a fun to watch show! Thank you again.

  15. Eloy Cavazos on September 22, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Can you put a link for the mag please

  16. Corben Alley on September 22, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Someone should do an A22 – Wildcat – 10/22 comparison, battle of the rotaries

  17. Wesley Pipelayer on September 22, 2022 at 9:05 pm

I’ve never had a promag that worked for shit

  18. Lorenzo Trujillo on September 22, 2022 at 9:06 pm

Possibly a dumb question do you know of this magazine will work on a 702 plinkster?

  19. Pelham’s Aquatics on September 22, 2022 at 9:11 pm

  23. Matthew Lu on September 22, 2022 at 9:16 pm

Hello sir, are u in Canada? I am looking at this gun as an alternative to the rugger 10/22, are these extended mags banned in Canada?

  24. 308HIT on September 22, 2022 at 9:17 pm

How are those extended magazines holding up 4 years later?

  25. Modern Mountain Man on September 22, 2022 at 9:19 pm

Pro Mag does a 30rd CZ Mag I have been interested in. Ever reviewed it?

  26. DEUCE AND GUNS on September 22, 2022 at 9:19 pm

The scope I’m using is the BSA Sweet 22 and is one of the best 22 scopes for the money. Get one here for only $50. http://amzn.to/2EbXS4t

  27. mechredd on September 22, 2022 at 9:21 pm

My 795 won’t reliably cycle Winchester white box, but neither will my 10/22 and my Walther. I haven’t had any issues with other ammo brands.

  28. Danny Chappell on September 22, 2022 at 9:21 pm

Wonderful insight on the 795 clip

  29. Beanos Meanos on September 22, 2022 at 9:22 pm

I have the same gun and I suck at aiming 🙁

  30. Rob L on September 22, 2022 at 9:22 pm

Getting my 795 Marlin this weekend what’s a good scope setup with the pigatiny rail in 3x9x40?? Thanks awesome video is the mag worth it for 13.99

  31. Sebastian Odoherty on September 22, 2022 at 9:22 pm

    That was 27 rounds

  32. Santi S on September 22, 2022 at 9:23 pm

    I like the gun

  33. Meldins STI on September 22, 2022 at 9:26 pm

I love the ar15 pmags they have worked flawlessly for me and I will definitely get this mag if I get a 795

  34. Mark W on September 22, 2022 at 9:27 pm

According to the 795 owners manual , the ammo you were using wasn’t on their recommended use list.

  35. Dave Edwards on September 22, 2022 at 9:28 pm

I’m glad you posted this video! Good to see the mags work well. I just bought a Marlin 795, a Simmons 3x9x32 scope, and two Pro Mag 25 round magazines. I also bought a Baby Uplula .22 magazine loader. It worked o.k. on the single factory mag that came with the rifle. I’m waiting for the mags- they will be here in a week, from Bud’s Gun Shop.
The rifle, was $149. at Sportsmans Warehouse in Reno, Nevada. The Simmons scope was 40 bucks on Amazon. Mags- two for 37 bucks with shipping. So, for about $225.00 (not including tax and BG check in NV., I have a great addition to my collection.

  37. Blade Hansarik on September 22, 2022 at 9:29 pm

I got a promag on my xd sub compact mod 2 and it’s runs flawless holding 35 rounds.

  38. zsempai9 on September 22, 2022 at 9:30 pm

without last round bolt hold open, are you not damaging the chamber face with the firing pin when running out of the magazine capacity and pulling the trigger with no cartridge to protect it? Great demonstration with the target being shown too. Thanks

  39. Luke Tilley on September 22, 2022 at 9:30 pm

    I counted 27. Twice!🤠👍

  40. David Brown on September 22, 2022 at 9:31 pm

They are the only Promag magazines I would recommend for any platform. They run just about flawless in my 795. I keep them clean as I can, but they aren’t finicky with dirt. Super impressed, they work so much better in the 795 than my BX25 mags work in my 10/22.

  41. TheAllKnowing512 on September 22, 2022 at 9:31 pm

    I counted 28 rounds

  42. Pelham’s Aquatics on September 22, 2022 at 9:34 pm

Thank you for the great videos, I was thinking of a new 22 rifle between the Marlin 795 and the moss berg 702 plink steer. Which do you like better? After watching the pro mag performance and the plinkster 25 rnd

  43. Lane Gore on September 22, 2022 at 9:34 pm

The sound quality on this video is unreal. Amazing video my guy💯

    Nice grouping on the shots!!

  46. NCad Burns on September 22, 2022 at 9:35 pm

    I counted 26 rounds on the 25er…

  47. John Geist on September 22, 2022 at 9:37 pm

You should put that on a ATI dragon off gun stock for the Marlin I bet you that would look cool

  48. Ira Fowler Jr. on September 22, 2022 at 9:38 pm

    helpful info, thanks

  49. Ryan Margate on September 22, 2022 at 9:39 pm

    My promag 25rounder is a junk! Won’t cycle well…

  50. Tom Hinkle Jr. on September 22, 2022 at 9:39 pm

My 795 hates the Remington Thunderbolts! After I would run them through, the internals had granules in there that would make it fail. I only use them in my bolt and lever action now.
