    The damage to the hammer strut and hammer bridge is a very common problem with this carbine and the root cause is from the issue you noted earlier: The failure of the bolt buffer. Without that buffer the bolt exceeds the designed length of travel, striking the bridge and bending the strut. Without intervention, eventually the stock cracks, a much more difficult and expensive repair. Replacing the buffer with a more durable aftermarket prevents the issue, but even then it should be replaced about every 7,500 rounds.
