I have the same rifle in .270 Win that will put 3 bullets into a dime at 100 yards using Federal Fusion ammunition or Hornady American Whitetail. The stock scope mounts that came with the patriot are garbage and should be replaced. Have you checked the torque of the action screws? They should be set at 20-25 inch pounds.

  2. David Friesen on September 19, 2022 at 8:29 pm

I heard another guy on another video say that his .303 doesn’t shoot the 180s very well. Maybe 1 in 10 twist isn’t quite right for heavier bullets. Just a thought.

  3. Angela Prater on September 19, 2022 at 8:30 pm

    See enough sale it.

  4. Megastick93 on September 19, 2022 at 8:30 pm

I have a Savage 110, wood stock, Nikon 3-9. It loves 165 gr federal fusion like nothing else. It never did shoot all around like that mossy, but the 165gr fusions brought it to 1- 1 1/4” every time . That’s off the same bags you have. Probably would shoot 1” or less every time with someone else at the trigger, I tend to pull one a little every time.

  5. Wayne Hajek on September 19, 2022 at 8:31 pm

Hold the rifle like you’d be hunting with it, unless you use bags while hunting. Too much barrel jump on the bags.

  6. Angela Prater on September 19, 2022 at 8:33 pm

Most review on Mossberg is 13/4 to 2.00 inch group

  7. T Wms on September 19, 2022 at 8:33 pm

Joe, I had the same issue with my Patriot in 350 Legend. Throwing the first, cold barrel, round 8 inches low left. Did two things that got it to shoot consistently. First, based on all the copper in my barrel, I gave it a complete copper solvent cleaning. Took 3 times, but I finally got all the copper out. Second, JB Bore Compound, liberal amount 4 times. That stopped the throwing of the shots. The group wasn’t anything great, but I’m at about a 1.75 inch group now. Two different manufacturer’s bullets. At least the grouped! I’m guessing the barrel was too rough and was gathering a bunch of junk leading to the inconsistency.

Also, and I just did this today, I checked the CBTO and found I was jumping 80 – 100 thousands. Long throat on the chamber. I haven’t had time to reload any rounds to this longer overall length, but I’m sure counting on that helping the accuracy. I’ll let you know if that tightens the groups.

  8. Alex Curry on September 19, 2022 at 8:36 pm

when do we get more reloader joe?!

  9. ValcoBayrunner on September 19, 2022 at 8:37 pm

I noticed when you were shooting with the other earlier videos you were having to really adjust your body to that wobbly setup. When muscles are tight for your posture it effects your trigger pull. Most people shooting and having accuracy problems are shooting too light of bullets and military ammo for AR platforms. Load up some 165gr Hornady SSTs with 54 grains of Ramshot Big Game and you should have excellent results. Every rifle is different. Some ammo is too fast , high velocity. Remington ammo seems to shoot great in a lot of different brand rifles. They are a soft bullet. Those 150grs bullet group surprised me for that twist rate.

  10. Gregg Kobylarz on September 19, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Table looks slippery and should be more secure.

  11. Konstantin Zhdanov on September 19, 2022 at 8:38 pm

    What scope are you use?

  12. Luvta Handload on September 19, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Well, I’ve watched the entire series. Couldn’t find the vid featuring the handloads you worked up just for this gun. I still think a bedding job would’ve done wonders. But I also noticed that throughout the series you were holding the gun about 6 different ways. If it’s a hunting rifle, hold it like you would if you were hunting. Enjoyed it! Take care. 🙋‍♂️

  13. Joseph Cassidy on September 19, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Did you ever get this rifle dialed?

  14. Whack em N Stack em Chronicles of the Outdoors on September 19, 2022 at 8:40 pm

It looked like you pulled the first shot

  15. stcif on September 19, 2022 at 8:40 pm

Enjoy your videos. Everyday people out having fun. That Patriot is nice looking. Never owned one. I haven’t watched all your videos so not sure if you talked much about cleaning the barrel, especially to the point of a running wet patches through until they come out clean. Reason I bring this up is I bought some Federal Terminal Ascent ammo recently and was shooting 2.5” groups at 100 yards. An older and wiser friend of mine said clean the gun good. Take that out of the equation. I did and shot about 1/2” at 100 and 5/8” at 200. That’s a .308 TC Venture with a Zeiss scope. I’m not an expert either. I used Barnes CR10 to get the copper fouling out. Harsh stuff.

  16. Jason Lynn on September 19, 2022 at 8:41 pm

You’re not shooting a heavy barrel rifle so resting your left free hand on the shoulder bag does nothing but harm. It’s a 30-06 not a 50 bmg. Grab the forearm of the rifle and shoot. I have this same rifle and shooting 1/4-1/2 inch groups at 150 yrds

  17. Jason Lynn on September 19, 2022 at 8:42 pm

And I’m shooting the 180 grn corelok

  18. m2gja m1 on September 19, 2022 at 8:42 pm

I think the last shot with the Remington was you. It happens to everyone but it looks like you pulled it. All kill shots except the flyer. Frustrating

  19. larry venturini on September 19, 2022 at 8:48 pm

    Its you

  20. Double Edge on September 19, 2022 at 8:48 pm

Crazy. I have 2 of these patriot rifles and both shoot moa pretty easy. They both happen to like federal fusion ammo. Did you ever find a round your patriot likes? Good vid buddy

  21. Al Lo on September 19, 2022 at 8:49 pm

    Operator error for sure!

  22. EastTexan on September 19, 2022 at 8:51 pm

"Only accurate rifles are interesing"….Townsend Whelen. That’s a shame too. Such a nice looking rifle too.

  23. Mr. Mr. on September 19, 2022 at 8:54 pm

Did you see the Backfire channel review in it. Terrible accuracy.

  24. laird 37 on September 19, 2022 at 8:56 pm

Try the federal powershok blue box

  25. Jason Lynn on September 19, 2022 at 8:59 pm

You’re shooting high because you dont know how to shoot. You have muzzle jump everytime you shoot. What’s the stipple on the forearm for??? Hold a rifle right and guarantee you’ll get 1/2 inch groups.

  26. RPh Tom on September 19, 2022 at 9:00 pm

"It’s not consistent" because you’re not consistent. You moved the green sand bag. That makes a difference. Do NOT move anything. Also, as you make more shots, the barrel heats up & is less accurate. However, as you talk between shootings of groups, the barrel cools off. You didn’t time the wait time between strings of fire to keep it consistent.

  27. Larry Wooten on September 19, 2022 at 9:00 pm

Your front sling stud is recoiling on your bag on some shots

  28. garth liston on September 19, 2022 at 9:01 pm

Hi Joe, a few comments and questions for you concerning the problem with the Mossberg: 1. Is the barrel floated properly from the beginning of the barrel to the end of the stock ? 2. Are the action mounting bolts torqued properly and evenly ? 3. I’d use a Harris Bipod on the front of the stock instead of that sandbag–I know this sounds strange but it works better for me that way. 4. You might have a good gunsmith "slug" the chamber to make sure its consistent and properly sized. 5. I don’t mean to insult your intelligence, but have you made sure the bases and rings are properly fitted and torqued ? Good luck.

  29. jim collier on September 19, 2022 at 9:02 pm

i have one in 308 i shoot winchester silver boe 150 grain 1 inch gun all day my brother has the same gun in 30-06 same ammo i shoot his is a 1.5 gun all . i would say its your ammo the core-lok is good ammo if u got a gun that like it u have a 50/50 luck to find the ammo your gun likes NOT WHAT U LIKE…..

  30. Shannon Herb on September 19, 2022 at 9:02 pm

I love mine in 308 with the vortex scope combo. Mine seems to like the Hornady 150 gr. Great info.

  31. Tractor Talk with Gary on September 19, 2022 at 9:03 pm

New subscriber here. I have the Mossberg Patriot in the black composite and I love it. I have several boxes of the Remington Core Loc ammo. After watching this, they will be the next lead flying down range.

  32. THE TANK on September 19, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Ive had 3 mossberg patriots none of them shot worth a crap doin what urs did very inaccurate

  33. Bob TRUMP IS ON GODS SIDE AND VICE VERSA Hunter on September 19, 2022 at 9:04 pm

GET A NEW JOB OR STOP DRINKING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  34. ValcoBayrunner on September 19, 2022 at 9:06 pm

BTW, my Winchester model 70 338 win mag would do that due to hot barrel on 3rd shot. Did you try letting barrel cool 5 mins before 3rd shot ?

  35. Matt Williams on September 19, 2022 at 9:07 pm

What was the recoil like with the 180 grain ammo?

  36. David Friesen on September 19, 2022 at 9:08 pm

Or maybe there a a teansey weansey difference in the powder charge in the coreloct ammo. If the ammo could be exactly perfectly the same powder charge and the barrel temperature could be the same then maybe the shots would be moa

  37. Timothy Pecoraro on September 19, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Check rings and bases and check the scope something may be loose or broken as well as you can check the Torque on you action screws always use blue locktite

  38. james miller on September 19, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Sounds like you peckerwoods are just scared of recoil , 150 grain work just fine with proper shot placement on game !

  39. Obstacle Illusion on September 19, 2022 at 9:10 pm

A poor Musician always blames his instrument.

  40. Wayne Hajek on September 19, 2022 at 9:11 pm

It’s the bags that are creating the inconsistencies. I noticed that your rifle rarely rests in the same place on the front bag. Just my observation.

  41. corn bread on September 19, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Try core lokts 165 gr got great groups out of my patriot

  42. terry rumble on September 19, 2022 at 9:18 pm

I can’t believe how many people are always blaming the rifle and never blame themselves.

  43. Lol on September 19, 2022 at 9:18 pm

Shooter error is most likely the culprit. Watching you shoot your not getting the same cheek weld everytime and that causes paralax even at a 100 yards. Also trigger pull didnt look consistent. My 308 shots core lokts sub moa. I think more practice and those groups will tighten up.

  44. gerard correale on September 19, 2022 at 9:20 pm

remington ammo is junk, had 2 no fires in new box in 300 win mag 180 grain. if the 700 doesnt shoot rem ammo good then ammo has to be junk. most accurate gun ever. gotta shoot hornady

  45. Kenneth Bailey on September 19, 2022 at 9:24 pm

I haven’t seen one of these Mossbacks shoot worth a hoot.

  46. Bill Doyle on September 19, 2022 at 9:24 pm

Having the wxact same problem. If you can figure it out text me please

  47. rcstl on September 19, 2022 at 9:25 pm

Not true! First and third shots touched.

  48. hoffmiermp on September 19, 2022 at 9:26 pm

I have a patriot chambered in the .300 win mag with the threaded barrel. I put a vg6 7.62 gamma device and really took the bite out of the 220 grain bullets. The rifle is topped off with a leupold vx freedom 3-9×40 CDS scope sitting in talley mounts, sub MOA rifle all day long and packs a punch.

  49. Jeff on September 19, 2022 at 9:27 pm

Sorry to comment on this so late, but I owned a Mossberg Patriot just like yours except in .243. I tried every handload I could think of and 6 or 7 different types of factory Ammo. It displayed the same exact symptoms as yours. Sent it back to Mossberg to be rebarreled, when I got it back it still wouldn’t shoot but it was a little better. Still not satisfied I glass bedded it. Still shot terrible. I washed my hands of the rifle and got a Ruger American .243 and never looked back.
Shoots Sub MOA all day every day. There’s another youtube channel that had one in 308 I think there channel is “Mixflip”, shot like a dog and “backfire outdoors?” His shot like a dog too. So that’s three people including myself who’ve struck out on that rifle and it’s looking like your not an exception. Hope this helps.

  50. JimmyDickens1 on September 19, 2022 at 9:27 pm

I agree with some of your other commentators: your muzzle jump is throwing your shots. Shoot the rifle like it was designed: one hand on the grip and one hand on the fore grip. No one shoots “for real” with the support hand under the butt stock. Watch your video and check out your moment-arms. Really shows (and encourages) muzzle jump. It appears you are watching too many “how-to” videos and adapting bad habits.
