Came across one of these in 45Colt at a local FFL for $600, had never heard of Navy Arms before. But I like the feel, smooth action, & no B-S external safeties I could see.

Buy no means am I an expert, but I didn’t know Rossi made Rifles for Navy Arms. Thought Navy Arms sold strictly Uberti fire arms (for a good mark up). Have several Rossi’s in different calibers, can’t find them any more. Would love to get my hands on a 357. And as far as the octagon barrel, when they were selling (regularly) was one of the options along with various sizes and stainless steel or blued option (have them). Rossi’s are great guns, love mine.👍🏻🤠

I just bought a rossie r92 and uberti cattleman revolver there both chambered in 45 long COlt I haven’t been able to shoot them yet becuase the cold snowy snow but hopefully the weather breaks soon and I can get out there I love cowboy action guns and the guns that settled avterritory and was instrumental in making not only a state but a nation they were the guns that were developed during the cival war and started being issued to soldiers replacing there single shot muskets state of the art at the time !! Mine holds 11+1 of 45 long Colt

I have the Rossi .44-40 saddle-ring carbine(round barreled with bbl. bands not octagon with the magazine ring like yours). They are so much fun to shoot, lever-actions will really get in your blood. My trigger guard and load gate is starting to get this pretty kinda antiquey looking plum patina to it. They used to make some serious factory ammo for that caliber back in the early twentieth century, especially for the strong-action’ models like your’s(and mine) M92s and you can still reload that thing to shoot like a volcano! Alliant 2400 and Unique are some of the best gunpowders for velocity or accuracy depending on your applications.

Just today I bought a Navy Arms / Rossi 44-40 round barrel, no safety, color case hardened. And I just noticed the serial number is quite unique – ending in 00007. From what I can tell, it was probably made in 1999 or 2000 and I’m not sure it’s ever been fired. Beautiful rifle though!
