Great video MP. Good info for the new gun owners. I agree with everything you said. It’s very important to get the right ammo, magazines and holsters. Thanks for sharing.

Love my P320 X-Compact….ammo is becoming expensive. Glad I had a good stock pile. I did bite the bullet and ordered 500 rounds of 9mm at the higher cost so I can still train. Don’t want to dig into my stock pile to much.

Thank you! Very helpful. I’ve had girlfriends who have tried to convince me to shoot with them for years. Something kept nagging at me recently before all this COVID-19 stuff hit to take a class, so I did, and I’m glad I did now! Just purchased my first gun, have yet to be able to shoot it, but I’m excited. Can’t wait for things to get back to “normal” so I can take some additional classes and get some practice in at the range.
Dr.DENTgeron January 22, 2023 at 1:44 am
Not fond of hyper ammo… so expensive, so precious… you shoot with what you know. Good old FMJ are ok…
Or at least load them yourself, so you get same velocity as your practice cartrige…

Look, people are freaking out because they are finally seeing the Police are not going to save them and may end up Murdering them. So NOW they are desperate. Going to any Event where you have desperate people is not going to be good times, and will probably be Dangerous.
Prepping during the cheerfully good times of Summer allows you to avoid trying to catch up during The Winter of Discontent, WHICH, is always on the horizon; elusive as it is ominous.
2. +90% of these new Gun Owners are the worst kind. They know nothing, they don’t want to know anything, and they are just buying into the latest "Trend." These are the kind of people who will loose their gun, leave it out for the kids and the dog to find and cry about how bad the gun was when tragedy statistically and inevitably strikes. They probably have Voted in the past to for New Gun Laws that were used to take all kinds of weapons away from Law Abiding Citizens. So welcoming them into the "Community" like some of these channels do, is probably a poor idea.
3. Gun sellers at gunshows are finally getting a Return On Investment. Most of the time Society considers them weirdos and shows them little respect. They represent an uncomfortable possibility that could happen in/to society. Be glad there are people who have something to sell. How much do you think these people paid for their guns? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj1Orq6fOtI
4. Get caught up and start reading STP 21-1-SMCT and FM 7-8 they are both available for download for free online. Stop Complaining and Get Off Your Ass! If I wanted to hear this kind of whining I would attend a Biden Rally. 😠👉GO.

I stock up on fmj. If it’s good enough for the military it’s good enough for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still like to keep a fair amount of hollow points, but for stockpiling it’s fmj. In a real SHTF scenario I don’t think I’ll be worried about over penetration.

MP .. you do realize most of the folks watching this are "experienced" shooters .. whatever that means to each of us .. and that they/we are going to bitch that you did not touch on our favorite thing etc etc .. **grin** .. I teach new folks .. good basic video for new shooters .. good job .. saying that .. I am going to hit on one of the things I try to push in my classes .. try to find practice ammo that shoots the same POA/POI as your carry ammo .. same grain possibly even same company .. love the emphasis on storage but I think I would have put it in another order .. ammo .. ppe (ears/eyes) .. cleaning eq .. home storage .. then branch out to carry options .. holsters .. spare mags .. mag pouches .. bottom line .. good video .. hope it finds the right audience and you do not get shot at too much .. thank you for what you do .. So you advise people to get factory mags, but then say to initially clean your new firearm to get rid of the "grease and gunk" from the factory? You do realize that’s there for a reason right? For example, Glock slides from the factory come with a couple spots of, if I remember correctly, a copper based antiseize/lube.
Just used some of my stimulus check to get my first handgun, this was really informative!

Great video. I’ve been a gun owner for over 30 years. I own many many handguns.
I’ve had to recently face the reality that the time for gun shopping is long past. I’ll have to do with what I have which is going to be a Sig P226 .40. It’s what I have the most mags and ammo for right now.
Sadly I’ve realized that what I lack is the basic gear. I don’t have more than a single competition holster for my P226. I don’t have a decent belt anymore, don’t have decent mag carriers for the more likely scenarios currently facing us. “Stop being a collector” are words I should have listened to a long time ago.
I have a good Safariland ALS holster on order. Still looking for a belt. Still trying to figure out the Safariland QLS system(website not the best). I’ve also got a Slingster ordered for my AR, now need to get armor and plate carriers.
Living in CA and times being what they are options have been very limited and I’m late.
Learn from me. Stop shopping for new guns and gear up for what you HAVE.

What’s the best gun for SHTF? The one you own and train with. A good 9mm handgun and 12ga shotgun are perfect SHTF security tools.
Derek Duncanon January 22, 2023 at 2:18 am
What good are all these weapons when you don’t possess any CBRN protective gear? I can pick up any weapons on any SHTF battlefield, there will plenty of armed dead people in the next SHTF situation. THE next SHTF scenario will be biological and nuclear-related. We are now in biological warfare now… Covid -19 pandemic. Coronavirus is a natural virus but it has been weaponizing by man from whatever evil entity or organizations that wants to depopulate the World’s population.

To new handgun owners looking at self defense ammo.. don’t get too caught up in what brand to get. In general any sort of modern hollow point is going to get the job done. If it functions in your gun. Do some research depending on what you want out of your self defense ammo such as penetration/expansion/ barrier penetration.. just please stay away from the RIP rounds.
montro electricon January 22, 2023 at 2:22 am
THE ONLY HOLSTER FOR A NEW GUN OWNER IS ONE MOLDED TO THE GUN AND HAS A LEVEL 2 AND UP RETENTION LOCKING SYSTEM, NEW OWNER SHOULD NOT BY THE HOLSTER LISTED AS ANYONE CAN COME FROM BEHIND AND TAKE YOUR GUN… PEOPLE BUY A LEVEL 2 OR 3 RETENTION HOLSTER…
I HAVE A LEVEL 3 HOLSTER FROM BLACKHAWK FOR MY 1911 AND YOU HAVE BETTER CHANCE OF DRAGGING ME AROUND THE STREET TRYING TO TAKE MY GUN THEN YOU WILL UN HOLSTERING MY WEAPON.
