New S&W M&P 5.7×28 Pistol Review :Tempo Rotating Barrel

The Smith & Wesson M&P 5.7 is a new comer to the 5.7×28 caliber market but the Tempo Rotating Barrel System, sets it apart from all the rest. It’s exciting to see more companies jump on the 5.7 band wagon and S&W did it right. Thanks to S&W for sending the pistol for the review and Fiocchi Ammunition for supplying their new 5.7×28 ammo. #M&P57 #57×28 #smithandwesson

Big thanks to Fiocchi USA for Supplying our ammunition!

Best 57 video, most informative, best in detail. Good job.

  5. SickOfItAlI93 on March 5, 2023 at 2:38 am

That is beautiful. I’m definitely looking into the 5.7. Thanks Scootch!!

  6. Miguel Ramirez on March 5, 2023 at 2:40 am

Grip looks jankie on the smith

  7. Buzz on March 5, 2023 at 2:40 am

I have the FN, been running it everything I go to the range over the past 8, 10 years. I like it, however I don’t like the location of the safety, hence I do not carry it. Yes, I like a safety.

  8. rudy montana on March 5, 2023 at 2:45 am

It’s approved by Mall Shooter Monthly magazine.

  9. R J on March 5, 2023 at 2:46 am

I wouldn’t pay more than 200 bucks for a plastic gun

  10. Mystery207 on March 5, 2023 at 2:47 am

22+1 amazing not for civilian s. Only for criminals. Thanks liberals fucking up freedom like dunkin donuts does to burritos

  11. Jerry Odom on March 5, 2023 at 2:48 am

I don’t understand the interest of this round..A .22 magnum puts a larger, and deeper dent in steel than this round of 5.7..

  12. Devon Grey on March 5, 2023 at 2:48 am

It’s obvious from the video how ridiculously flat-shooting this pistol is… but S&W build quality is a bit hit and miss, so we’ll have to see what kind of experience the early adopters have.

  13. Tony Jetton on March 5, 2023 at 2:48 am

Why, oh why, all the dramatic background music?

  14. scbane on March 5, 2023 at 2:49 am

Never thought I would see a pistol uglier than a Glock…but here it is.

  15. onesilentarrow on March 5, 2023 at 2:50 am

How could that big ass bullet be less powerful than a 9mm?

  16. John Mazza on March 5, 2023 at 2:51 am

To me, the fully locked breech is a huge advantage, as I handload most of my own rounds. This looks like it will eliminate the shoulder bumping forward and resulting brass stress that the delayed blowback guns have, and make the coatings on the cases much less of an issue.

  17. Argo Buntoro on March 5, 2023 at 2:51 am

    I need but this gun

  18. bacorable on March 5, 2023 at 2:52 am

The trigger guard is tiny, not glove frendly.

  19. Some Nerd on March 5, 2023 at 3:00 am

I might have to try selling my Ruger 57 and get one of these or the PSA Rock instead. I really like the 5.7 round, but I hate the trigger on the Ruger. This looks WAY better!

  20. Tony S on March 5, 2023 at 3:00 am

That was like $100+ just in the intro 😬

  21. Rich B on March 5, 2023 at 3:00 am

It’s definitely a great gun, because I can’t find one to buy!

  22. b0Lobattali0n on March 5, 2023 at 3:00 am

That gap between the frame and the slide close to the barrel is gnarly lol. I like how you guys tried to cover the gap with angles and backgrounds.

  23. CC California on March 5, 2023 at 3:00 am

Thanks Sootch!!💖 This gas barrel is amazing!!! Price is good too!!👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

  24. Stephen on March 5, 2023 at 3:01 am

The safety lever on FN was one issue I had with that gun .

  25. 4theloveofguns on March 5, 2023 at 3:02 am

This is the 57 to go with in my opinion nice

  26. NDZ1972 on March 5, 2023 at 3:03 am

I think I’m gonna pick one of these up however, the frame IS NOT as sexy as the FN or the Ruger. I am really liking the rest of the design so the blahhh plain vanilla frame is not a deal breaker. Maybe I’ll have to get some custom work done on that.

  27. James Reynolds on March 5, 2023 at 3:05 am

The BEST overall 5.7 video I’ve seen by far.
The field strip and explanation of the Temo was very informative for those who haven’t had the option of actually holding one yet.
    Great job!!!

Hello? Honey? How are you? You look great today! That hairstyle is perfect! And the dress fits you to perfection. I hope you have a nice day at work. Oh, I wanted to mention, Smith and Wesson has this new 5.7×28 handgun and ……………………………

Stupid guns. Sure, they may be ‘world has gone to hell ‘ liberty teeth, but for practical purposes, there is no ethical use of guns in this cartridge by average folks.

Most of us carry a gun to protect ourselves and our loved ones as we go about our daily business. Any ethical firearm instructor will teach his/her students to seriously consider over-penetration as being a very bad thing. I refuse to carry a full power (Underwood or Buffalo Bore)357mag or a 5.7 due to those cartridges being very likely (70%+ liklihood) of passing through my attacker and posing a threat to any innocent bystanders.

Keep one next to your bed to shoot any LEO that believes that a no-knock-warrant could possibly be constitutional (it isn’t, and he/she has violated their oath to the constitution by taking part in a no-knock raid), otherwise, there is no practical purpose to a 5.7 round short of NKorea or Russia or China invading Main Street, USA.

But for the 99.9% of us that are just normal folks with a carry permit, the 5.7 poses too much risk to our neighbors to use for home defense and too much risk to anyone in our general vicinity for concealed carry. It WILL pass through your attacker and if you have been warned about this property and still choose it, then I have no problem with you doing jail time for making a poor choice that puts the lives of your neighbors at risk.

  32. Donnie Turner on March 5, 2023 at 3:09 am

    I absolutely love my s&w 5.7

  33. Luke Zechman on March 5, 2023 at 3:11 am

The grips on 5.7 pistols always look pretty horrible by my eye, and this one looks the worse. Polymer brick.

  34. Family Firearm Reviews on March 5, 2023 at 3:11 am

Finally found one of these! Can’t wait to get to the range tomorrow.

  35. Brian Caine on March 5, 2023 at 3:12 am

Great review. Nice to see you excited about a new offering.

  36. 3rdRanger1 Recon on March 5, 2023 at 3:14 am

And Yankee Marshall thinks it’s one of the worst guns of the century because his tiny hands won’t fit around the grip and he can see under the slide 🙄

  37. darrin welliver on March 5, 2023 at 3:16 am

I’m wondering what magazines will interchange with each other. I’ll check back for any replies. Thanks for the great review.

  38. LV Cruz on March 5, 2023 at 3:18 am

The take down is similar to my Model 4006, which is a GREAT firearm. I just hate the take down compared to modern M&P’s

  39. island life and bejond on March 5, 2023 at 3:18 am

would love this round in a nice bolt action rifle

  40. charles arata on March 5, 2023 at 3:18 am

made in the USA that’s what i like

  41. Ashie Hakoto on March 5, 2023 at 3:25 am

not quite true on penetration. less weight, but more velocity. more penetration power, but less penetration depth vs fleshy targets.

  42. Live w/ Nick on March 5, 2023 at 3:27 am

Sooch has always been my favorite gear reviewer. He’s humble and just a down to earth guy despite his legendary status lol. I’m serious though.

  43. ds Bond on March 5, 2023 at 3:28 am

Right now 5.7 ammunition is almost one dollar per round. There is only ONE manufacturer of 5.7 ammo. It has the stopping power of a 22 magnum unless you can find the military ammunition. It is a fad that will fade away much faster than the 40 S& W.

  44. Joseph Contini on March 5, 2023 at 3:29 am

Yes it looks like a bolt sooth00..to me it reminds me of the AK-47 bolt..reverse engineering…🙂…cool concept!

  45. Kenny on March 5, 2023 at 3:29 am

10/10 would run a can on it, I just got mine yesterday and while I don’t have a decibel meter it was comfortable to shoot with a .22 rimfire can on it and ran flawlessly. I was also shooting 5.7 hand loads which are a bit spicy, about 100 fps more than factory FN ammo and had no issues. I feel a lot safer running spicy hand loads on a gas operated system than blowback. The extra delay also helps prevent the shoulders on the cases from getting blown out like they do from my PS-90 and Ruger 57.

  46. Shiro Lee on March 5, 2023 at 3:32 am

Holy cow, what an interesting barrel and sleeve design…

  47. Cornpop on March 5, 2023 at 3:33 am

Send me one of these! Pretty please with a cherry on top!🥰 I just blew my gun budget for the year this week! Happy Valentine’s day!

  48. 韩旭 on March 5, 2023 at 3:34 am

You don’t understand the design intent of this blow-up system at all.
