Police say real firearms and BB guns look too similar

You’ve likely read about cases where teens and adults were shot and killed by police for carrying what looks like a real gun.

Kenner police were recently faced with a similar situation, but with a better ending.

Today, we got to see the guns side-by-side. Picking them up didn’t help either, because they felt like they were the same weight and same kind of metal.

There are hand guns, revolvers and semi-automatic rifles. Are they real? If so, which ones?

Early Saturday morning, a man who lives on Roosevelt near Veterans, could not tell.

Kind of a no brainer, go after the companies making these, force them to stop and hold them liable for the deaths they cause.

What does it matter what they look like one way or the other? Didn’t a off duty correction officer just kill a teen with a Nerf gun that was clearly a toy to anyone that saw this thing the cop said he felt threatened by? What the gun looks like does not change the mentality of officers infected with ill will. This is just a ploy to offer advance excuses to kill at will without determining whether or not a firearm is in fact a "firearm" or a air arm. This is sad in a way because though many new airguns bare striking resemblance to real firearms, there are noticable differences to the trained eye that says ‘this is not a FIREARM. And that makes the difference between life and death. Cops should not be so quick to shot and ask questions later. It’s their responsibility even if someone is acting irresponsible with them. There should be no deflecting to evade responsibility.

I think start holding parents accountable why should good gun owners be forced to follow laws when bad people don’t

. I could tell the difference between a real gun and a fake one maybe not right away but in the situation of me being an officer you shouldn’t take a job if you’re going to be scared you’re here to serve and protect.. saying this train your officers better..
