Reloading Lee 7/8oz drive key shotgun slugs

Reloading Lee 7/8oz drive key shotgun slugs

Here’s some more info about where I sourced all of the components required to make these slugs.

I suggest getting a slug manual for reference. Don’t take my word for it, this is just what I do 😛

That is not a good wad for Lee slugs. They splay the petals badly. A L078 from BPI or a FIOCCHI FCFWA12H27B (in stock and CHEAP) from Graf & Sons is a much better choice. The Fiocchi also comes in a 1 1/8oz size if you’d like to use a nitro card with it. These work well for .69 roundball too.

Would it be possible to put a thin nitro card to hold in the powder and then put the wad on top of that.it would solve the powder creeping

They look great. Do they have enough recoil to cycle a semi auto action?

I’d like to see you cast your lead? That’ll be cool!

Hi I’m looking to get into shotgun reloads. Where do I buy the shell with the primer already in them.

Nice.. Im Reloading Lee Slugs Back Into Winchester 3 Dram Heavy Lead 100bx. Open The Hull, Remelt Lead, Return Slug To Donor Hull. I Bump Charge To 3.5 Dram(1 Shell Up-Charges 6 Hulls)
I Had Been Doing 2 .562 Round Balls(Unbuffered) But 40 to 120 MOA At 100yrds..(Horrible Some Would Fly On Both Sides Of A 18 In Target At 25 Yards)

Can you do a range video of their accuracy? I am very seriously considering this load. It seems like the best out there for the Lee slug.

I swap out the birdshot for home cast slugs or .690 Cal. Roundball, they’re great, cheap & accurate, put the fun back into shooting shotguns. Mike.

Did you do any testing full rifled barrel vs smooth ore vs field barrel with a rifled choke…….what barrels did you use

  12. James Pollard on May 6, 2023 at 4:04 am

I do a similar load with the 1 oz slug .

  13. Vanilla Gorilla on May 6, 2023 at 4:09 am

What kind of accuracy are you getting

  14. Raymond Haman on May 6, 2023 at 4:11 am

Hi, have u or do u see any benefits to roll crimping this combo ? Have u shot them over a crony?

  15. Fractured Hearts on May 6, 2023 at 4:11 am

Cool.  I load those slugs too but with 23.4 grains of Green Dot.  They shot great. I can bust a 2litter soda bottle at 90 yards 9 out of 10 shots.

  16. John Lins on May 6, 2023 at 4:11 am

Can you say where you get all of the ideas from

  17. Roger Martin on May 6, 2023 at 4:11 am

If you haven’t heard of them yet, ballistic products has a pt 1205 wad that fits those hulls. They are tall enough to just pop the slug in and crimp it. No cards to move the stack height up needed.

Man ,you are so right SirSloop…they are a real blast to shoot..I used 34 grain’s of longshot in mine …..exhilirating big time!…thank you for another quality video my friend…KEEP ON ROCKIN IT! SirSloop…….

  20. Certaindeaf on May 6, 2023 at 4:15 am

It sure looks like there’s a 3/8" gap between the front of the slug and crimp. If those moved forward due to recoil, like can happen to revolvers, it’d behave like a barrel obstruction. Not good.
