Amazing that Mossberg has not yet made a semi-auto tactical Shockwave.
Since I already owned an 870, my choice was the Tac14. First thing I did was add a one-shot extension tube. I swapped the magpul fore end for a corncob with the strap. Replaced the safety button with a bigger one. Added talon grips to the birds head. Threaded the barrel for remchoke and screwed in a Remington breeches tube. Added a hi-viz clamp-on green fiber optic front sight. Installed a rear sling stud and front sling attachment. It’s a hand held cannon. Every time I shoot it – I always think “I wouldn’t want to be on the other end of this”.
You can flatten out the dimples in the tube then add a extension
I have two of the shockwave 590s and I have a tac-14 I like the shock waves better only because they hold an extra round otherwise they are both great firearms

If you look at the mag tube on the Remington you’ll likely see there are 2 caps on the spring. Turns out you don’t really need both caps. You could get a bit more room😉. Leave the smallest cap to make contact with the shells.
First time in my life I hear that a Mossberg is smoother than a 870
I put skateboard tape on the forend and hockey tape on the goose neck handle. Makes it way more grippy and you don’t feel like you’re gonna punch yourself in the face with it (well as much as it did before. That’s why we like it right? It’s fun to handle lol)

Mossberg only runs the mini shells 100% with the adaptor. Tac 14 on the other hand …

Hard to choose. The Mini Shells certainly do better in the Mossberg with the OpSol adapter. The Remington is more “Tacticool.” Toss up.
Gotta love the Remingjams. I personally prefer the Mosshurts
The factory info says both of these shotguns hold 5+1. Why do you say the Mossberg holds one more shell?
Bought the Remington marine tac14 yesterday. Not impressed. Some rust between receiver and magazine tube, one of the shell latches was not staked properly and it fell out when I removed the trigger group. My Turkish clone tac14 impresses me much more at this point.
Pops handled that double shotgun fire like a boss
I put Picatinny rails on my Remington. I’m going to put a light and laser combo and I put a vertical grip on there so it does hold better I really like it

That Mossberg ain’t blued either… Aluminum doesn’t blue. The shockwave comes either anodized/parked, or cerekoted…
That said, the finish on the early tac14s was garbage… Just like everything Remington put their name on for the last 15 years they were in business.
Hopefully the new Remington will be better.
Haven’t shot a tac 14 but seeing as remingtons usually have a loading gate u might be able to ghost load one under the bolt and over the loading gate giving it the same capacity as the mossberg

CAUTION – the CONS of the Stockless Shotgun
What gun industry videos do not show or warn you about is all the people who have used these types of stockless shotguns that are *_missing their front teeth._*
Also, these "cruiser-ish" shotguns are up close and personal guns thus they are very inaccurate compared to guns with stocks at distance.
These types of stockless guns work if you practice _a lot_ with it and use only for 7 yards or under sooting distance (i.e. Home Defense).

The 879 wins hands down less money and one more round if you are actually going to use it for home defense 5 rounds is just not enough. Mini shell are a gimic and not a valid home defense option so I don’t care one way or another about them. I think their both fun guns but I will stick to my KSG for serious home defense. It’s just as short for going around corners with the added advantage of a front grip equipped with a laser light combo and a built in stock it’s got a lot more control. Plus 13 rounds of 3" magnum shells beats those to together.
