[Review] PSAK-74: The First Good American 5.45 AK? 😮

When it comes to the AK-74 platform, American attempts at producing a serviceable domestic version of the younger 5.45x39mm-chambered Kalashnikov have mostly fallen flat – with nightmare stories about garage-builds blowing themselves apart spread throughout various forums all over the internet.

Does Palmetto State Armory’s take on a Soviet classic live up to the success of their 7.62×39 AKMs, or are you safe skipping the first gen AK-74 to see if any additional issues get worked out?

There’s no such thing as an "american AK" it’ll always be a russian weapon the same way there’s no such thing as a "british" or "dutch" FAL, it was, is and always will be a Wallonian weapon.

  45. Biden Stole The Election on March 2, 2023 at 2:54 am

PSA didn’t just fall into making AK platforms, I forget the name of the company that they bought all the tooling from but it was from a company in which at onetime made a very good American Made AKM then they let quality go to shit, Years later PSA bought their rights as well as mentioned above their tooling and put them back into production under PSA, I can only say from what I can see is they don’t produce a bad U.S. made AKM, My experience with one of their PA-10’s not so as it was the biggest hunk of shit I’ve ever owned

  46. Wonder Nine on March 2, 2023 at 2:54 am

Doesn’t matter. They are never in stock anyway. You have to wait.

Anyone with the PSAK74 have issues with the rear sight block? My rear sight block obstructs my view of the front sight in the 100m to 400m setting.
