Do they use the barrel as support to pop the rivets in? Kinda like century arms?

I’m rooting for Riley. If they’re dedicated to improving and making a good AK like Palmetto State Armory has done, then they’re definitely going to be a good contender. I’m interested to see what Rob has to say about these newer ones.

  8. JEREMY on May 8, 2023 at 3:37 am

How does it have a hammer forged bolt and carrier? That is the only way for the automat Kalashnikov.

  9. Chris Puente on May 8, 2023 at 3:38 am

Why does everything have to get political in these comments

  10. The Blind Sniper on May 8, 2023 at 3:39 am

Riley Defense has engineers from I.O.

    Check your headspace regularly

I’ve had my Riley Defense RAK47C for a year now and i love it its been nothing but good to me and has run flawlessly I also got the teak wood stock and could still smell the stain on the wood love that smell of america

  12. JEREMY on May 8, 2023 at 3:41 am

I bet both bolt and carrier are milled from Billet Steel.

  13. BigWig on May 8, 2023 at 3:41 am

If I had found this for six hundred I’d have bought two.

  14. Alec Villarreal on May 8, 2023 at 3:41 am

I’ve owned this rifle for a little over a year now. I love this gun. She eats Tula and Wolf like a fat kid in a buffett.

  15. MyNameisNobody on May 8, 2023 at 3:42 am

I like my RAK 47 . I haven’t shot it to much but it seems solid

  16. ryan muro on May 8, 2023 at 3:44 am

If it doesn’t have a hammer forged chrome lined barrel it had no business being called an AK

  17. gizengar111 on May 8, 2023 at 3:45 am

Just bought mine a few days ago and put 500 rounds through it right out the box. Love it. Though I do need to sight it in a bit. Also went with Riley because I heard from a lot of people that the customer service is top notch.

  18. Azphelumbra on May 8, 2023 at 3:47 am

Love the furniture. imo its best looking standard wood furniture along with the new wood ZPAP

  19. bigdaddy9247 on May 8, 2023 at 3:48 am

Got mine for $700. Put about 150 rounds thru it so far. Seems fairly accurate at 50 years right out of the box. Does have a tendency to get a round jammed every now and then. Field stripped it at the range..out it back together..no issues. Maybe the original mag is bad. Purchased a few metal ones..no issues. I like it. You’ll get good comments at the range. Great power.

You forgot to mention the cleaning rod Psa’s don’t come with one

I got a NY compliant version of the RAK-47 from Atlantic firearms about a month or so ago and I’ve put around 1,000 rounds through it and other than the lower hand guard and retaining pin not being 100% secure, it wobbles just the slightest back and forth, the gun itself is still going strong with no deformations in the guts at all. The wood does dent a little easy, but it’s still strong, and it came with a tiny crack in the stock where it connects with the receiver but it’s still just as strong as secure as if it weren’t even there. It feeds perfectly with an mag you put in it, the Korean surplus 10 round steel mags are tight at first but they go in smoother as you use it, and it shoots very well at 300 meters (the farthest I’ve shot it). The Spur grip on the compliant model needed to go however cuz the way my fingers held it, it pinched a nerve in my hand past the 200 round mark so I just got a normal fin grip instead. The rifle is great tho.

Just bought a new one today. I have yet to upload the video. I was impressed so far. It was $675 plus tax which put it at $723.99 out the door. I’m in Ohio and have a CCW permit so a dealer isn’t even required to call in the background check which saves some time. I went to the range and put 30 rounds through it before I got a call and had to leave. I did not use the Tapco mag. I used a Korean steel mag. I’m not a fan of polymer/plastic magazines.

Riley Defense rifles seem to be hit or miss, but they have definitely been committed to fixing issues. People trying to claim they are just a re-branded I.O. need to do their research, I.O. NEVER acknowledged any issues with their firearms EVER, they would always claim it was somehow user error and the owner of the company (forgot that douche’s name) even claimed that I.O. rifles were equal to, and possibly superior to Arsenal rifles in terms of quality.

Riley has never ignored issues with their guns, and new manufacturer’s ALWAYS have teething issues. Hell, even companies that have been around for 200+ years have issues with new releases all the time, it’s how it is, a handful of employees simply can’t find all of the endless amounts of potential issues prior to launching a product in the same way end-users do after the product releases.

Riley has also consistently made improvements, Zeke Shoots has followed their development for the past couple years and has several good videos out about Riley rifles, he did a 5,000 round endurance test on one of their early models that had a CAST FRONT TRUNNION and cast bolt carrier, the rifle held up just fine to 5,000 rounds.

My Riley rifle has the forged front trunnion but still has the cast bolt carrier, they have always used forged bolts. I’ve had mine since 2017 and have shot it regularly, I can’t remember how many rounds but I know I’ve gone through 7 or 8 cases of Wolf between my SKS, my Riley, and my WASR, with the Riley being used more often than the WASR and SKS combined for sure. No headspace issues, carrier tail peened a bit in the beginning but hasn’t progressed, no other significant wear or damage has occured.

  36. Donkeypunch on May 8, 2023 at 4:06 am

I am not a huge fan of RD and I owned a RAK-47-C and tbh it really didn’t shoot bad at all.

The wood didn’t handle heat very well but that wasn’t much of an issue to me since I planned to switch it out. The main problem I seen with my specific RAK-47-C was it took rust about as bad as a Savage. The whole gun would be dusted with rust after just a week or so. Even with thorough, regular cleaning and rust preventative solutions. I use Barricade on all my firearms and its supposed to actual penetrate into the pours of the metal and deoxidize it and leave a protective layer that should last at least a month or longer in humid (south eastern) conditions. I could tell early on that the rust was going to be a serious issue. So I sold it before the rust could begin to pit into the metal and start to decrease its value. None of my other guns are effected like this. Even sitting right next to the RAK-47-C while it was dusted with rust, the other guns took none. and still look new because of how well I maintain them and on a regular basis despite shooting them or not.

Turned around and bought a Zastava. Never regretted it.

  42. Desert Tactical on May 8, 2023 at 4:18 am

Just got me this same model. I was considering the Century Arms VSKA. But this one just stood out. Both same price point. I have not shot it yet. Ive done an inspection and it looks well made. I was iffy after all the bashing on this rifle. Ok, Took the chance now to see how it is gonna work… crossed fingers. Awesome video, man!

  43. Deathtroll1499 on May 8, 2023 at 4:19 am
