Rock Island Armory brings us an AR-style, box fed shotgun with attitude!

Box fed shotguns are not a new thing. But box fed shotguns at the world’s largest maker of 1911’s is a new thing. We were lucky enough to be one of the first gun channels to receive one of their VR60’s and we had fun with it!

Just bought one Saturday. That wide key that comes with the kit helps a lot when loading mags and shells get stuck. It fits in a slot in the back of the mag to hold rounds down while another goes in.

how well does this cycle with lower powered shells the cheap ones?

How would it be full auto, I have an ar10 battle rifle , full auto is fun, when someone else buys ammo.

  8. noone on October 27, 2021 at 5:57 pm

Fantastic! Now, all I need is an AR-15 or a 308 Rifle and either a VR60 or VR80. This would complete my home or car defense. 💯💯😁😁😁

Great video but i must correct you. You don’t have to rock the magazine in when the mag is loaded. The tab goes in when it has shells in it. You can insert it straight. But if you’re just loading an empty mag, yes you have to rotate it in because the tab will be exposed. Great video though.

I have a question that I can’t seem to get answered. There is a lever below the bolt handle, in the manual, is it listed as (part 24, 25 and 26) as the "flare launcher", I wondered 1. if this lever has any use beyond just for disassembly of the gun, one guy said it was to switch between semi and single shot, 2. if it can be safely fired with the lever pointed down in the vertical position. and 3 after sending an email to rock island, I was told this is called the "cartridge elevator" but they did not explain what that meant. A full explanation of what this lever is and what is does would be very helpful.

The protrusion on the mag is there when empty as this is what pushes up a metal tab in the weapon to keep the bolt back after the last round. I noticed his bolt did not stay back on last round which means it was not working.

  17. Mike Rosenberger on October 27, 2021 at 6:14 pm

Joe Biden – Noone needs a fully automatic assault rifle, get a shot gun.

  18. Andromeda Galaxy on October 27, 2021 at 6:15 pm

Are there any extended mags for it or drums?

  19. George Vangordon on October 27, 2021 at 6:16 pm

Can’t take it bird hunting it’s against the law in most places to hunt birds with a shotgun that has the ability to hold more then 3 rounds that’s why the put plugs in the tubes. Yes most automatic shot guns will hold 5 rounds and pump shot guns too if you remove the plug. But if you get caught bird hunting with 5 rounds you could get fined or your firearm confiscated or I doubt it but jail time.. check you local and state regulations to know for sure

  21. KarnageShot on October 27, 2021 at 6:16 pm

Im probably just stupid but is it normal for the bolt to lock back and not move forward with an empty magazine inserted

How does shooting slugs work out in this firearm?? Are slugs considered to be a “heavy or light load”??
    Which choke size for slugs??

  26. Kevin Roberts on October 27, 2021 at 6:21 pm

if you had ammo in the mag that little hook goes away!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s like the mag saying "hey dumbass, the mag is empty!!!!"
You need to redo your video PLEASE! It makes you look like an idiot!

  31. James Moore on October 27, 2021 at 6:26 pm

You don’t have to roll the magazine into the well if the mag is loaded….that lip only sticks out if the mag is empty

  32. kathy poff on October 27, 2021 at 6:28 pm

  36. Amonette on October 27, 2021 at 6:31 pm

The most important questions are, how much do the extra mags cost? Do they offer one that’s high capacity?

Which choke tube do you use for slugs?

  43. E Scott on October 27, 2021 at 6:36 pm

Mags Are Drop Free.. Or Must Be Removed?

  44. glockerbob on October 27, 2021 at 6:37 pm

I don’t load empty mags so I don’t have to push it that weird way. With mag loaded you can just push it straight in like regular AR.

  49. Joseph Dixon on October 27, 2021 at 6:43 pm

I am a total 100% absolute newbie. I bought a Rock Island VR60 three weeks ago and I don’t know what ammunition to buy. It’s 25 feet from our bedroom door to our front door BUT we have children in bedrooms. I’m worried about over penetrating. What exact bird shot should I buy? Or should I buy buckshot? What numbers of buckshot or bird shot? I mean, what exact words and numbers should be on the box when I go to the gun store? I am very confused.

To be straight up with yaw, I’m a 48 black Trump supporter and I have had MANY death threats. We have had 12 tires, ALL the tires on our three vans stabbed. We’ve had bricks through one of the windshields. It’s been quite a five years. I just want to protect my family. We have 8 children. I am one of the nicest and friendliest men any of could ever be friends with. I hope I NEVER have to fire a weapon at another human being but no one has the right to harm me or my family. So I need to know EXACTLY what ammunition to buy.

God bless each and every one of you and thank you all for your help.
