In this video I share my initial impression of the Ruger LCR. This little snubnosed revolver is compact, lightweight and has minimal felt recoil.
I have been looking for a gun just like this for my wife. she is recoil sensitive and a 22 is all i can get her to shoot. plus with me being a wheelchair user something like this would be a good CCW (back up)for me.
a 22 can do a lot more than people think especially with proper bullet placement. it is better than nothing
I love mine ! I carry it and love it!
I own a 22 Magnum Ruger, i only have my right arm, i always shoot pulling the trigger and i have no problem hitting my target up to 10 yards. I love it. My carring gun is a Kimber Ultra Carry II 45 acp with three Willson combat 8 rounds magazines.
A 22LR, or a 22WMR revolver will clean your clock! people that say that you just take an advil and go to work the next day after getting shot with either of these calibers is a moron and watches WAY too much TV. most people will bitch and moan if you shoot them with a rubber band.
Found speed loaders! what a joy.
The 22lr LCR is my top contender for a carry gun. 8 rounds is a nice capacity. The firing pin in revolvers tends to be beefier making for more reliable ignition. I can afford to practice with 22. Larger calibers are expensive.
Wish I went with this over the LCP .22, what a piece of junk this little gun is. Jams constantly and the takedown is a nightmare. The trigger will sporadically go to about 15lbs and there is no double action re-strike ability. It’s almost worse than nothing, because an attacker might decide to kill you after you pull a gun and it fails to go off lol
those little clips are dumb, can handload faster, its a great gun though
Thanks. Just what I wanted to know,
The lcr .22 is really nice. I Think both it and 43c (s&w 22 lr air lite snub) is a fantastic choice as well. Aluminum alloy is very strong and light. Fully loaded the 43c is 12.3 oz and the trigger while heavy can be "staged" for a longer controlled pull, then break when ready. Smith definitely costs more, some like myself are happy to pay for the lighter gun. But if the lcr 22 lr was available and I had to use it in place of the 43c I wouldn’t be bummed out. Both great little revolvers!
22lr being a horrible round for self defense is old school mentality. With fantastic personal defense ammo like Federal Punch and Winchester Silvertip over the past couple years, its a formidable choice now. Never even shot a revolver but Im liking the look of this one.
👍
I like the LCR line just hard to find for under 6oo and that is whole lot of money for a gun that mostly plastic……..yeah, I know Ruger is a quality company, but still……..
Speed beez makes speedloaders for this
Sometimes It’s really hard to put someone down with a 556 or 9mm… but I keep watching this little fun stuff and they seem so cool, I’m probably going to get my first 22lr in a few days. If I do. I’ll do a lame video on it lol
Can I ask how many times you’ve used your guns in self-defense?
Currently, the only ones you can get are the 6 shot models for a little over $500 before taxes, etc. hard pass, unless you intend to truly use this as your personal self defense gun because you’re recoil sensitive, or just older (hey, we all get old). A gun, ANY gun, is way better than any other weapon, and will stop most attacks because criminal people do not like to get shot – and will not stick around for you to shoot them 6-8 times. But a SA Heritage Barkeep, with the WMR cylinder, would be better, in my opinion.
I bought an LCR just before Christmas and I love it
I want one.
Ruger LCR can handle all gr s up to 40gr??
Thanks for this video I’m seriously considering the Ruger LCR 22lr for carry the more I research the more I’m convinced 22lr is a good carry
I have a 22 LCR too. Good little gun. Fun and inexpensive to shoot.
Wow Ilike 22 LR gun
Great video. 22 or not, if you’re getting shot at you will likely leave that person alone.
Just got mine. Love it. Good for defense as many videos show. pocket carry dream. Easy shooting for an old guy.
Great review! Is it not wise to dry shoot a rim fire pistol? I saw snap caps being used to dry fire for demo use.
Load the gun full of bullets and put your right hand over the front of the barrel at 7:36. Sheesh. Gun safety. Gun safety. Gun safety. Otherwise good review.
I have a 22 LCR it’s a fun little revolver.
Did you ever do a follow-up? You said you would but I can’t find it. Would like to hear more.
Great review on your Ruger LCR.22 LR. Revolver. I have same gun . And basically bought mine for concealed carry years s few years ago. The hammer less feature is mainly why because I definitely would have had problems with a hammer snag my pockets. I didn’t realize the weight was better than expected. It lightweight and easy to maneuver. I shot CCI stinger and aguila high velocity ammunition through it with minimal recoil, and Carry those two particular rounds for velocity instead of standard velocity ammo. Range time is in the 200 to 300 rounds so it still is fairly new. And I also choose this for personal defense because it’s a revolver, very little mechanism that could jam or not shoot. Yes, a round not shooting could be a dud but, just by pulling trigger it goes to next rimfire round, reliable in my opinion.thanks.
Considering the LCR as a Go Bag weapon.
Put CCI mini mags in this gun and it is a good concealed carry. Straight up lethal
$600 for a .22lr isn’t cheap at all.
I recently bought my Wife a Ruger LCR 22WMR, and she loves it, but our Daughter, who is 22 and in Graduate School, prefers a 22LR, to the Magnum, but likes the revolver, as do I, due to fewer moving parts to foul-up, or malfunction! I’m hoping to buy her the LCR 22LR, as a Christmas gift….
It’s a fun gun for sure (I have the LCRx version in 22lr), but when mentioning those using this for defense because they are sensitive to recoil – that’s typically the same demographic that’s going to run into problems with the non-trivial (esp. compared to centerfire platforms, even in DA) trigger pull. They could switch to a semi-auto 22lr platform, but that’s not going to be as reliable as a 22lr revolver with the right amount of spring tension for reliable ignition.
22LR is very lethal in a self defense scenario. Putting 3-4 shots of this into a perps face, he will be changing his mind about what he’s doing.
Shoot me in the face with a 22lr. said no one ever.
Is it safe to dryfire this rugger lcr in 22lr?
Anyone own this one and the Ruger compact 22lr semi-auto pistol?? How do they compare?
I wouldn’t bother with HP ammo. Penetration if iffy in a small .22, so stick with solids. Most HP won’t really expand at mouse .22 velocities, but they can deform more than solids and impede penetration.
They retail at $600+ in our area. I scored a used returned on for 275.
Rhett Neumayer has been blowing this gun up in popularity and for a dozen great reasons. 8 rounds, low recoil, almost no blast, can be fired with a poor or awkward grip, the list goes on. It’s all about getting good hits in self defense. If you’re not shooting to hit, caliber is your least concern because you’re just yelling at them with your pistol. Hits with a .22 are better than misses with a 9 or .45
I carry my LCR .22LR every day …. use 2 speed loaders for it. 24 rounds should be enough for defensive carry. CCI Mini Mags and Federal Punch .22 for my daily carry. I love the CCI Quiet .22 also four this gun. Revolver as quiet as running suppressed without the ATF stamp. whaaaat? SSSHhh dont tell them or the will make up some new law about it.
The purpose of a self defense pistol in civilian hands is to cause a break in contact. It’s purpose is to help us get away from dangerous situations. Will a reliable 22 help us get away. Probably so.
Watch a stopping power video. On average by massive studies only 1 in 3 people are actually incapacitated by a .22. Still better than nothing. So is a pocket knife.
I would stick with the CCI MINI MAG 40 grain. The hollow points are not going
to open and you are getting 4 more grains per round.
u r not supposed to dry fire .22s
Now why does this looks dmso much bigger than a wrangler
Have you tried speed loaders?
I own a Ruger small 22wmr. Excellent revolver. The only thing i dislike is that to release the drum to reload is not as easy as the SW or the Taurus 942. I only hage my right arm, 68 yo and even though I am still strong, i wish Ruger would have made it like the Taurus or SW.
