That is a good looking rifle! It looks like a good competitor to the Ruger GSR.

I have been thinking about getting a .450 BM I like the Savage design. I like Mossberg patriot for light weight and affordability but the Patriot line kicks like a mule, even with my Patriot .308. I would be tempted by my favorite maker of semi-auto rifles, Windham Weaponry. They have one called the 450 Thumper in .450 Bush Master. Comes with a Luth AR adjustable butt stock (cheek, LOP, cant.) And it comes with a muzzle brake on it. Made to take out of the box, put on a scope (or mechanical sights, if you want them) and go shooting.

For scopes, I know at least two big names making scopes geared to these straight wall fatties. Leupold 350 Legend. Centered around the .350 Legend but you could us it for others.

And my favorite brand, Vortex, has the Crossfire II Straight Wall BDC with a few different objective bell sizes. Averaged out to work for .350 Legend, .450 Bush Master, and .45-70 Government. And really, you could just true your reticle. And even if you wanted to go through the effort of measuring by chrono, I have found most professionally made ammo, like Federal (I am a fan of their stuff and have bought several boxes, a few at a time of the Fusion .308 Win 165 gr bonded soft point. A true deer round but also, it is giving me .1/4 MOA on my good days.) And take that data to put in your ballistics calculator and you will find it is fairly close to these reticles.

This round, like other straight walls, poops out fast at 300 yards. But most people are hunt at closer than that, even for elk and moose. Some states and regions will allow you to hunt only with these rifles precisely because they drop like a rock so soon. Less chance of a ricochet into a populated area, as opposed to a .300 Win Mag at 3,300 fps.

Wish the bolt worked better but at least these problems are easily fixed.

Ruger’s big mistake on their model was leaving the trigger guard same color as the stock. UuuG!

I own an original (late 1990’s) Savage Scout in .308 caliber. Great shooting rifle !

Well that break seems to work.
    Not much muzzle rise.
    Cool rifle.

Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years, And then there came to them that which they were promised?
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. (Quran 26 :205-207)

I think the mag has to be inserted back first then front rocked up. I could be wrong.
