This is why I’m never buying a savage

  2. Lew Scagnetti on November 13, 2021 at 10:00 pm

I think you don’t want to be shoulder firing this BEAST to much ! Find a nice place to rest that thing and squeeze nice and easy ! That’s a big gun with a lot of recoil !

  3. autom8ed on November 13, 2021 at 10:01 pm

If the rail was loose, aint no way you shot that tight 3rd group. Dont make no sense bubba! Im callin B.S.

  4. yourleftnut1 on November 13, 2021 at 10:01 pm

the saying that u need a scope as expensive or more than the gun is stupid.. all the scopes i used on my rifles cost only 1/4 of the price of the rifles and still held zero after years of shooting. i only check my zero every 2 yrs or so unless i bumped it

  5. JollyRoger2408 on November 13, 2021 at 10:01 pm

It´s a nice rifle, but I like my McMillan TAC-338. I use it with the Schmidt & Bender 5-45×56 PMII High Power scope.

  6. Dean Firnatine on November 13, 2021 at 10:02 pm

Who made that rule? The guy who sells optics to Cabela’s

  7. Nathan McCormack on November 13, 2021 at 10:04 pm

Dont use a lead sled, that can be a problem. Since the sled doesnt let the rifle move at all guess where the recoil goes, straight to the scope and mounts. Sometimes it is that way from the factory though, but i would stop using a lead sled.

  8. A Rodriguez on November 13, 2021 at 10:05 pm

What are you talking’ about, thats good….Its a Savage, you got 20 rounds out of it and it hasnt fallen apart!! Most guys only get about 10 rounds through a Savage before it starts falling apart!!

  9. FoesFlyDennis on November 13, 2021 at 10:05 pm

When asked, "338LM or 50BMG?", the correct answer is, "YES".

  10. makemwunder on November 13, 2021 at 10:06 pm

My rail became loose after 20 rounds as well. Factory must not use loctite.

  11. eric burkholder on November 13, 2021 at 10:07 pm

Where did you get your scope sun shield

  12. Feather workshop on November 13, 2021 at 10:08 pm

That’s a really nice looking rifle

  13. Perry Poulsen on November 13, 2021 at 10:08 pm

Shoot at 1000 yards Scott! Let’s see what that Savage will do.

  14. Walter Pence on November 13, 2021 at 10:10 pm

I have one of them. I love it but when you first get one, oil the mag real good and put blue locktite on your rail mount screws before you do anything else and you will be fine.

  15. George Perez on November 13, 2021 at 10:11 pm

@ 9:01 "it’s not like the gun blew up" that was a bad omen!

  16. Matt on November 13, 2021 at 10:11 pm

Hey bud, how did they end up fixing the factory mounted rail? Did you/the shop fix it with loctite or? Sorry if I missed this in the video. I was looking at one of these locally. Thanks 🙏🏻

  19. REBELDAWG .308 on November 13, 2021 at 10:15 pm

9:00 into video you talk about the gun blowing up…3 1/2 years later your 50 cal blows up.So in the future we don’t talk about guns blowing any more.

  20. Pål Sennerud on November 13, 2021 at 10:16 pm

I have bought this rifle too. Waiting for the optic.

  21. Michael Hayes on November 13, 2021 at 10:18 pm

    Congrats on the 1 Million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  22. Copisetic 1 on November 13, 2021 at 10:18 pm

The first thing I did was torque the rail screws down. The 338 lapua will loosen those screws after a few rounds. Never had one problem with my 111. Great shooter.

  23. Drew Tatum on November 13, 2021 at 10:19 pm

Really saying a lot about savage quality when the magazine jams and the rail comes loose upon sighting in.
Savage has always had top notch accuracy but quality leaves a lot to be desired

  24. VK 168.01 (P) on November 13, 2021 at 10:22 pm

Beautiful gun. And not too expensive either.

  25. Justin O on November 13, 2021 at 10:22 pm

    A liberal politician!

  26. Gary Lyons on November 13, 2021 at 10:23 pm

I got model 111 338 lapua mag shot 300 gr. bullets had to drive brass out with brass cleaning rod called savage they refused service so no more savage for me …..

  27. Joe Randella on November 13, 2021 at 10:23 pm

Ahh I feel like this was yesterday. Love watching these videos too much. More 338!

  28. virgil mccain on November 13, 2021 at 10:25 pm

I have one have probably 200 rounds through it not one problem at 400 yards with my reloads holds a great pattern

  29. Savage shooter on November 13, 2021 at 10:25 pm

Rapidly becoming my favorite gun channel. Thanks Scott.

  30. Mackenzie Jones on November 13, 2021 at 10:26 pm

Did you get the rail fixed 338 is no joke lots of vibration

  31. JeepJeep234 on November 13, 2021 at 10:29 pm

I’ve had the same problem twice with Ruger American rifles that had rails on them. Ever since then when I buy rifles with rails I remove them, use blue loctite in the threads and reattach with the proper torque specs.

  32. M Gabriel on November 13, 2021 at 10:38 pm

That may be good for that pesky T- Rex…

  33. Brent Frank on November 13, 2021 at 10:39 pm

    I’ve seen enough

  34. Cody on November 13, 2021 at 10:43 pm

Those vortexes will hold up just fine on that rifle and do as good of a job as you want. Anyone who follows that rule is just a sucker. People have been killing at a thousand yards + since before any of these high end optics and rifles were even thought of. Look at what carlos hathcock and some of those other guys have done with equipment 99% of long range shooters today would be “to good” to shoot cause it’s not expensive or fancy enough. It’s not the arrow it’s the Indian folks.

  35. irfan khan on November 13, 2021 at 10:43 pm

u gave so many details but not the barrel length??? that must also be mentioned.

  36. Doua Her on November 13, 2021 at 10:44 pm

Nice gun, I will love to have one, how much will cost me for a nice gun like that?

  37. E Benn on November 13, 2021 at 10:45 pm

Always remount the factory rail, doesn’t matter what caliber it is, or who manufactured it. I’m sure custom rifles are a different story, but I wouldn’t know…

  38. bardownsnipe on November 13, 2021 at 10:46 pm

Your biggest mistake was not buying a swfa scope

  39. stephen knecht on November 13, 2021 at 10:46 pm

I’m glad you had good customer service, when I called it didn’t go so well. They knew you was putting it on YouTube so they was extra nice

  40. Shawshank Redemption on November 13, 2021 at 10:47 pm

U think this rifle can take a group at 1500 m?
because It have a light barrel…

  41. Tang Gang on November 13, 2021 at 10:48 pm

Is it bad I dropped around 5k on my 338

  42. C Squared on November 13, 2021 at 10:51 pm

    Not a good look savage

  43. Steve Barber on November 13, 2021 at 10:51 pm

I purchased same rifle just a couple of weeks ago and finally got from California lock down. I had the same exact issues you had. I also have the Savage 110 BA that uses the same magazine so I had 5 that are aftermarket. The material came off the stocks just like yours. Then the mount wobbled and needs to be locked down. I noticed your post was back in 2017, it is 2020 and looks like issues have not been resolved. Savage support is sending another stock and magazine. Crazy!

  44. Mackenzie Jones on November 13, 2021 at 10:51 pm

Invest in a good Boyd’s stocks they are worth it

  45. he an on November 13, 2021 at 10:52 pm

I have a bolt action sniper

  46. Nonja Ninja on November 13, 2021 at 10:53 pm

    Savage mags always suck.

  47. Collin Godbey on November 13, 2021 at 10:54 pm

What height of rings did you use?

  48. CplSki USMC on November 13, 2021 at 10:54 pm

The scope rail screws coming loose is very common with Savages. They are well lubricated. Before you ever mount an optic, you have to remove the rail, clean the screws and holes with alcohol, and loctite them. Once done, they won’t come loose again. I have that exact rifle and yeah, that coating on the stock is… meh. But, the accuracy is great. You got a pretty good group with PPU ammo which surprised me, but with hand loads, I get 1/3 MOA accuracy. 1500 yards is a fun shot with it.

  49. StillHawginTV on November 13, 2021 at 10:55 pm

Where did you order that scope from?

  50. Jeff Durham on November 13, 2021 at 10:56 pm

Dude bye some shoot n see targets not that expensive. Its a small sacrifice to pay for your veiwers.
