Savage Impulse Big Game Rifle Review

Savage Impulse Big Game Rifle Review

It’s fast. It’s accurate. It’s modular. It’s much more affordable than its closest competitors. Could Savage be turning the straight-pull action into the Superman of the hunting world, or is this misplaced hype? Guns.com goes in-depth with the new Savage Impulse Big Game rifle to get the skinny on the straight.

Very nice gun. I will take 2 of them. One in 300 win mag and 308win. All my rifles shoot Federal hunting loads amazingly well. Federal ammo is my go to…

  6. Jeramy H on October 31, 2021 at 8:23 pm

I literally just shot that gun today at the range. A gentleman showed up while I was shooting and had one. He had it set up with a comp and he let me shoot it. Off hand it was no worse than my 30-06 and the Straight pull bolt was awesome.

  7. A Steiner on October 31, 2021 at 8:24 pm

As fast as a semi-auto?! No way, but definitely faster than regular bolt action.

  8. kejj1212 on October 31, 2021 at 8:26 pm

EXCELLENT REVIEW. Articulate, knowledgeable, intelligent, concise. I’m going to subscribe just because of her fine presentation. Not to mention start looking at this rifle

  9. Mark Lemist on October 31, 2021 at 8:26 pm

Too bad they don’t want to build and ship any.

  10. ¿Junior ?! on October 31, 2021 at 8:26 pm

Too many parts for malfunction risk factor. Especially for hunting dangerous game 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Unfortunately these BEAUTIFULL GUNS are not available in most EU states due to stupid/idiotic strict antigun laws !!! Gun enthousiasts who wants to own them must to imigrate in USA!!! While 2Amedment is still alive…

  15. jay gaskill on October 31, 2021 at 8:36 pm

I’ve got cold fingers….and shot aces.

  16. GlockMod23 on October 31, 2021 at 8:36 pm

    Wishing they had longer barrels.

  17. theguyinmaine on October 31, 2021 at 8:36 pm

Most knowledgeable firearm demonstrator on youtube and a great handler. Never see her blink, flinch, or fear any recoil. Every video I have watched no matter what she’s shooting, "it’s a mild recoil".

  18. Richard Brewin on October 31, 2021 at 8:36 pm

Just noticed it’s ambidextrous, may get me one

  19. theoriginalDAL357 on October 31, 2021 at 8:38 pm

Good review–to the point and not too long.

  20. TriWayne62 on October 31, 2021 at 8:39 pm

  21. poor fat man on October 31, 2021 at 8:40 pm

That hang up was kind of scary

  22. devin smith on October 31, 2021 at 8:41 pm

I wonder about the ball bearings freezing in cold humid conditions and the longevity of the aluminium receiver

  23. Virginia scurti on October 31, 2021 at 8:41 pm

Christ I bought two rifles this year and think I might be sorry I didn’t wait on at least one of them.

  24. MOPARman345 HEMI on October 31, 2021 at 8:42 pm

I’m surprised it took so long for a company too make a straight pull bolt rifle.

  25. ASHOK KUMAR SINGH on October 31, 2021 at 8:45 pm

    👆👌👍💓❤️🌹💯🙏

  26. Russell Miller on October 31, 2021 at 8:49 pm

I will be purchasing that rifle very soon. I sure wish I didn’t sell my Sauer 202 Highland light alloy; all to pull forward on a tax debt. Just over 5 pounds without the scope.

  27. sepo on October 31, 2021 at 8:49 pm

Very precise and informative! Liked it!

  28. ardell1350 on October 31, 2021 at 8:50 pm

  29. Poor Thing Productions on October 31, 2021 at 8:51 pm

Amazing grouping in that weather in a 300 Win mag!

  30. Scott Milam on October 31, 2021 at 8:54 pm

This is an excellent review. You are a great communicator. Thank you. I want one. Nice shooting.

  31. horsefly1020 on October 31, 2021 at 8:54 pm

Dual port action would be nice for lefty’s and righty’s

  32. Michael Kaye on October 31, 2021 at 8:55 pm

Can someone tell me what brand of rest she is using?

  35. QuidEst Nunc on October 31, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Tell me again who is going to provide me and other middle-class Americans with money for training ammo. Nothing is even Close to .22LR, is it ?

  37. Gary Williams on October 31, 2021 at 8:59 pm

Can’t find one, where are they, dealers can’t get them

  38. Fred Bartlett on October 31, 2021 at 9:05 pm

Is she Elmer fuds mother 👩 on bugs bunny lol she did a good job

  39. E Tyreman on October 31, 2021 at 9:05 pm

Seriously stop talking up this straight pull garbage. If you cant stay on a modern scoped bolt gun and run a standard action this fast, then you need to practise. There is no need for this straight pull garbage. The fit and finish of a savage rifle is no where near a blazer or merkel. This series of rifles are a joke.

  40. Joller on October 31, 2021 at 9:06 pm

    Nice and very comprehensive review.
    Thank you very much indeed.

  41. Lapew Mo on October 31, 2021 at 9:06 pm

Might want to add spacers back in that stock before you take your eye out. lol old video, quality as usual.

  42. Carol Anne Sparkman on October 31, 2021 at 9:09 pm

    Wonderful review! 😊

  43. Vigilance Rifles on October 31, 2021 at 9:10 pm

That gun failed to put round 3 in
and when redoing the feed the safety reengaged.
Total Fail in a hunt situation.
I’d like to see 5 rounds offhand with no fails.
You did a great job on the Video.

  44. Adam Australia on October 31, 2021 at 9:10 pm

My local gun store in melbourne australia has these @ $2400-2500 a pop, thinking of one in .308 predator model with the 10rd mag

  45. Christopher Kauffmann on October 31, 2021 at 9:10 pm

K31s and K11s for $400- 1300 have entered the chat.

Nothing will beat a k31 or steyr m95.

Still, this is a cool rifle

  46. Skunny on October 31, 2021 at 9:12 pm

You need at least a .375 to legally hunt Cape Buffalo and other African dangerous game, yet she says she wants to use it for that reason in the future… maybe she knows something that we don’t about a dangerous game line of these rifles??? 🤤

  47. Kyle Walker on October 31, 2021 at 9:12 pm

Could you buy a barrel for this in 7 mm. I would like to chamber-it in 7mm/300 weatherby

  48. Dustin Keim on October 31, 2021 at 9:14 pm

this is pretty damn cool rifle , not gonna lie I’m kind of worried that bolt will fail and get shot into my eye socket

  49. Landcruiser Chewy on October 31, 2021 at 9:14 pm

Kristen, your reviews always hit the mark, pardon the pun. I was considering the high country but the straight pull is a much better rifle IMHO! Reminds me of a main battle rifle! Great 👍 review.

Left handed?.. don’t forget about the Lefties
