Very good review.I really like the fact that you talk about what the trigger pull is set at – such an important issue when it comes to accuracy.

  7. StefanoM68 on October 29, 2021 at 4:07 pm

Hi Jeff thanks for this video. Which barrel length you suggest for a range use only (no .22 hunting allowed in Italy). My range is 50 to 200 mt longest. So, 18 or 22 inches ? Optics setup distance ? Thank very much. Greets from Rome.

AMERICA!! Just bought the compact version for my 11-yr old from Cabela’s for Christmas (assuming he won’t see this comment). Great video and review my friend! Thanks for putting it up. Makes me feel a little more confident in the purchase.

Could you make a comparison between this, and Mossberg 802 plinkster? I’m a little torn between which of the two to add to my collection.

  14. Purple Heart Scott on October 29, 2021 at 4:13 pm

I’m thinking I want to get this and put the Primary Arms ACSS 6x scope on it. I’ve yet to get a bolt action and believe this would be a good companion to my 10-22 takedown and SR22 pistol. Love Ruger products. Reasonable price and outstanding products backed by best customer service should ya ever need it. Good video as usual.

  15. BigRed56 on October 29, 2021 at 4:14 pm

Greetings Jeff I always enjoy your videos… I contacted Ruger a few years back and asked them if they were going to manufacture the Ruger American Rimfire in Left hand versions… They said yes they were… So I waited a year and it never happened… So I went with another rimfire rifle manufacturer and I not holding my breath for the arrival of the LH Ruger American Rimfire. The best features of the Ruger American Rimfire is the raised comb which is a great feature when one is using a scope; the Tang safety is located in the most favorable location, as well as the 60* bolt throw, the 10-22 magazines. Also a 1 in 14 twist rate. The 22 mag ought to shoot heavier bullets with the faster twist – but nobody has tested this feature. Most 22 LR are 1 in 16 twist rates. As are most 22 mags.

Great video. I’m planning on purchasing this rifle soon. I’m a left-handed shooter as well, and it seems it’s pretty easy to operate left handed. (That is an outstanding beard, by the way.)

Bolt action rifles are so bad ass.

  18. Riot on October 29, 2021 at 4:18 pm

  19. MARC Dave PADDUYAO on October 29, 2021 at 4:20 pm

Hahaha he’s a left handed shooter

  20. Magdumper on October 29, 2021 at 4:20 pm

I’ve examined Ruger 22/45 pistols that were ruined by dry firing. The firing pin made contact with the extractor cut on breech face.

  21. Jeffrey Elliott on October 29, 2021 at 4:20 pm

Jeff I’m looking at getting a Ruger American in the .17HMR. You have any recommendation on weather to get the 18 inch or 22 inch barrel?? I’d prefer the shorter one, but will it decrease accuracy over the 22 inch??

  25. Jack v on October 29, 2021 at 4:23 pm

This looks like the longer version is this the compact version? What do you think the differences in accuracy between the longer version on the compact? I’m sure somebody in this comments section knows for sure LOL. Can anybody give me a reply I’d really appreciate it thank you so I’m looking at the Ruger American Bolt Action Rimfire rifle 22LR compact version, if anybody has one let me know what you think of it

  26. Odyssey311 on October 29, 2021 at 4:28 pm

Does anyone know if this rifle uses the same barrel as their semi auto 10/22? I cannot find a threaded barrel Ruger American but I have a 10/22 threaded barrel. thanks.

  29. Zach Schwartz on October 29, 2021 at 4:33 pm

Great vid. My only question is what kind of scope mounts did you use? I’ve been having trouble finding some that will fit.

    Thanks

I purchased the compact version on Friday. Love the rifle.

  33. A. S. on October 29, 2021 at 4:42 pm

I just bought the target model. Had it home for about ten minutes and had to take it back. It came with a Weaver rail already on it. When I started to put a scope on it I noticed that one of the screws holding the rail on was severely cross-threaded and would interfere with the scope mount. (I should have noticed this at the dealer but I was too busy checking the stock, the fit and finish, the trigger pull, everything but the scope rail. . .)The dealer said they’d have to ship it back to Ruger and let them decide what to do, repair or replace. Truth is, I don’t want a brand new repaired gun. I own several Rugers. All of them purchased brand new. This is the first time I’ve had any sort of complaint.

  38. Dave Foster on October 29, 2021 at 4:44 pm

Hey Jeff, it seems like life would be a whole lot easier if you just stopped being left handed. Hopefully that piece of advice was helpful to you.

I can’t find your review on the Ruger American Rimfire chamber in 17HMR, I remember watching one time

  43. Christian Reimer on October 29, 2021 at 4:49 pm

I live in Canada and am looking for my first rifle. Ive seen that a .22 should be someones first rifle as it is for the most part cheaper and can get around 50 shots for under 10$. Im wondering if you or anyone can help me pick out and look into a first rifle. Im having troubles figuring out which rifle to go for. In Canada we have some restrictions on certain guns but am looking into a semi-automatic .22 and bolt action.

  44. Liam Humphrey on October 29, 2021 at 4:51 pm

    i have that gun amazing

  45. Andrew Spence on October 29, 2021 at 4:51 pm

    you left handed sir

  46. Mr. Nobody on October 29, 2021 at 4:52 pm

Being a left handed shooter, do you find it to be a pain in the butt to shoot a right handed bolt gun?

My buddy is left handed and he said he prefers right handed bolt guns but most lefties prefer left handed guns 🤷‍♂️

  47. Spencer Kohl on October 29, 2021 at 4:54 pm

Rest In Peace Jeff. You will always be a legend in the industry. Thank you for all you have given the firearm community. You will be forever missed and never forgotten.

  48. Jerry Robinson on October 29, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Jeff you stay left handed. I was left handed and I was a marksman in the Air Force. You know the old saying is that left handers use the right side of their brain and i believe that implies not the wrong side. Lol

  49. jarkoer on October 29, 2021 at 4:55 pm

I love the trigger on this, but I was disappointed with the iron sights. I set the rear sights as high as they would go, but they were still hitting about five or six inches low at 25 yards using CCI Standard Velocity. Oh it holds a tight group, but mine definitely requires a scope.

  50. Omar Al-Naser on October 29, 2021 at 4:55 pm

Hi, I saw a video by Iraq veteran 8888, "how far will a .22 kill".
Can you tell how far this rifle will kill ? Does it have a longer range?
