In this video I take a look at the competitive shotgun archetypes after the shotgun nerf has gone live and find the new one hit kill range for each of them. This is meant to outline and show the best shotguns and one hit kill ranges of each archetype post shotgun nerf in destiny 2 season of the splicer crucible.

You really should range test with darci rather than back against a box. Its more accurate, and sometimes your numbers conflict with others
So what im gathering is….. Opening shot was always the problem and now opening shot is a MUST have perk in every situation?
Why bungo…… I main fusions and i’ve said for the longest time range boosting perks should only be there for the low impact shotties…… god damn it dude this just makes the amount of usable shotguns less that what it already was

Aggressive frames kill consistently at 7 meters, precision frames kill consistently at 6.5 meters, lightweight frames kill consistently at 6 meters
Great video as usual! Personal feedback from me: hearing how many kills out of your attempts a shotgun got you isn’t too helpful to me unless you include if you were still able to clean up the kill after or not as well
It would be cool if you did a follow up research video on clean up range after a 120 punch, and something I wish someone like you would do would be how to roll a hip fire shotgun and the ohk consistency while hip firing.

People forget about this weapon because it wasn’t meta when it came out and is difficult to farm for, but prophet of doom (from garden) is a precision frame that can roll opening shot. I kept a roll with opening shot, rifled, assault mag, range masterwork. Excited to try it, really wish it had full choke though
So why is Fallout Plays tests so different than yours??
I’m kinda disappointed you didn’t test the rapid fires. At least I know Aztecross will.

Hope this was enjoyable, tried to make this as quick as possible so sorry if it was a bit rushed. Important note: Apparently Duality slug range was nerfed, but nothing official yet so I’m still hesitant. Apparently some have done tests, but waiting for any potential official word.
Defidently think compass rose will be new meta.its the same architype as retold tale and can get quickdraw snapshot. I also think twilight oath will be really good since it gets snapshot and no distractions. Loud lullabby is worse than before though I’m interested in frenzy on a 120 and honestly I’d choose Duke, true prochecy or steady hand over it.
I know this might be a miss. But since we know barrel length matters, have you tested Botheration?
Do you think prophecy of doom will be good? It can roll with slideways/frenzy, opening shot, and full choke.

Let’s be honest, nerf or not we slide 80% of the time to get in the range to ape a mf so 8,7,6,5 meters don’t matter.
On precision frames if you had the choice between accurized rounds or or assault mag, which would you choose?

Poor testing is poor. Shouldn’t have used Riiswalker if you can’t test with both full choke and iron reach. That’s the chase…
Here’s a big brain idea USE A SNIPER!
TripleWreck and I tested shotgun targeting perks about a year ago for about 8 hours with many frames. This was after the initial shotgun nerf. Our extensive testing indicated the same: Targeting perks matter.
On some shotguns, they increase the “reliable” range by as much as a meter. They also seem to have different interactions (either exponential or diminishing depending on the perk) when other perks are present. We did a number of tests using Darci’s meter counter and a number of secondary accounts, using trig to establish perfect distances, and monitor dot sites and land-marks on the target’s body to make sure the shots were taken exactly on the same pixel, same distance. Our findings then more or less confirm everything you’ve said about targeting perks.
But also, one oddity we found is targeting adjuster can drastically improve reliability on some frames, with that benefit being even more so in the air to the point where it was obviously better than icarus grip (methodology was using an AHK script to bunnyhop and shoot exact milliseconds after bunnyhop). Aim assist is worth exploring in depth with shotguns.
I have/had a number of theories for how shotguns work engine-side based on some of the tests we did, and prior knowledge of past Bungie Engines. We found some really cool anamolies, especially when testing shots fired directly in between the hurtboxes of two guardians.
My god roll Riiswalker has firmly planted (no full choke though) and iron reach. I have high hopes.

Hey Drew, thank you, I have 1 question for you: 2 identical Astrals with full choke, range MW, accurized and opening shot; 1 has surplus, 1 has slideshot, which one you pick?
I don’t notice any nerfs at all lol. I think bungie said they nerfed it but didn’t. They feel exactly the same to me. 🤦♂️

You didn’t test an aggressive shotgun with both full choke and rifled barrel? I did with Astral, it had opening shot and light mag as the only extra range perk. On that roll, rifled was quite a bit more consistant at 7 meters which really surprised me. It’s of course possible that it’s due to low range because of only light mag, but it’s definitely something to consider. Felwinter reigned supreme in our testing as well and our results were pretty much exactly like yours with that and Found Verdict.
