SOUTH AFRICAN KNIFE CARRY LAW.

SOUTH AFRICAN KNIFE CARRY LAW.

South African knife carry law or at least my interpretation of the vague laws that we have here in South Africa.

This is an explanation video as I understand it. Please keep in mind that I am not a lawyer and nothing I say can ever be seen as correct or in most cases even relevant in society.

could you please do a presentation on okapi knives, especially the ratchet knife? have they really stopped making them due to their nasty reputation as a cheap instrument of mass violence ?

Common sense should prevail…walking around with your EDC to open the odd box or whittle a stick in the park will probably not attract attention.

Wasn’t aware that they had changed the act recently. Thank you for posting. I was aware of the 10cm rule, but now just because you can carry a larger knife, doesn’t mean you should. Knives scare a lot of people. Big knives scare more people. I’ve had a colleague ask me if I’m a gangster after he saw me use my Swiss army knife to cut a square piece of paper to make a label for a water sampling bottle while we were in the bush for work. I found that funny, especially since the knife was used purely as a tool, but it’s a reminder that ALL knives to some people are scary and have negative thoughts attached to it

if you are using a Balisong(butterfly) Knife for doing tricks in public , is it allowed ? Or does it fall under the category entertainment as you said 4:24

Thanks for info, but how about on flights when the knife is in my checked in bag? I once forgot to take out one of those credit card knives out of my carry on luggage bags and soon had it confisticated by the security guys at OR Tambo airport .
