Suppressed Ruger 57?!

Suppressed Ruger 57?!

A lot of people have done videos talking about the pros and cons of the Ruger 57. Not nearly as many have had a chance to shoot them suppressed. Thanks to SilencerShop, I was able to make that happen.
Make sure you check them out for all your NFA needs.

Your blowback to the face is essentially because the action is a cam delayed blowback. Couple that with the rifle like velocities, and those gases will find the path of least resistance. With the supersonic ammo available, most of the cans will get you to 130-135DB. I typically only recommend users shoot AE TMJ or SS197SR through cans to lessen the back pressure. Shooting subsonics solve that issue, but FN doesn’t commercially sell SB193, and the other sources (Elite, VG, R&R WS) are always sold out. Subsonics also need very light (typically under 6 oz) cans to cycle on the Ruger/FSN when using them 😀

I would think on the Ruger we’d have less gas to the face if they covered the rear of the slide where they have the cutout for checking hammer position.

I just switched the mag release to the other side and use my trigger finger to release it. Never have to change your grip.

I strongly suggest watching the Ruger you tube video on what to do (and NOT do) when shooting the 57 suppressed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhFEtcoqTyE

Also, I feel like the lightweight accurate pistol + lightweight high velocity ammo would make an excellent outdoors man’s companion. You can carry plenty of ammo and it will have a good bit more pop than a .22 should the horsepower be required.

What can are you using? Saw a vid where he said that 22lr cans will work on the ruger 5.7,so i guess a 22lr can would work on any 5.7×28 firearm?

  10. J McKy on April 26, 2023 at 4:16 am

I see ruger has recently released the “pro model” of the ruger57 without the thumb safety. Waiting for someone to upload a video on it & give info on some new specs it may have

  15. Buffman - R.A.N.G.E. on April 26, 2023 at 4:29 am

Ruger should have implemented a release similar to FN’s, so that people with average hands wouldn’t need to change their grip so much to hit that tiny release.

Does the YHM Phantom 22 Have any barrel restriction when using on a 5.7×28?

  17. hotrodglock on April 26, 2023 at 4:31 am

I wonder how one of those OSS 9mm vented cans would work? Might be to heavy as Buffman pointed out they like a sub 6 Oz can to run properly

  18. Andrae Nicholson on April 26, 2023 at 4:34 am

Zero recoil in them meaty mits! Very sharp review man, thank you!
