I bought a Bursa 380 Thunder because i have long wanted a Model 85 I could never find one at a price point I could afford. The open slide design goes back to the Beretta 1915 made for the Royal Italian Army use in W W I.

My dad had a Browning BD380, which is a cosmetic redesign of the model 84 beretta (if I remember right.) Double stack 13 round magazine. It’s a beautiful gun and tremendous fun to shoot.

Don’t mean to throw a wrench in, Bersa Plus 15+1 is very sweet.

  10. Levon Kitapszyan on May 7, 2023 at 4:12 am

It’s thick it’s big but it’s made to shoot a .380 and it will outlast all the micro .380s

At the risk of sounding like a heretic, have you looked at the Tisas Fatih 380? It’s essentially a Beretta 84BB made in Turkey under license from Beretta. The quality is exceptional as Tisas is a highly-regarded military firearms manufacturer that uses Haas automation equipment in their factory. I bought one two years ago and am very happy with it. I bought mine new from Classic Firearms for under $400 and they are also avaiable from PSA. The 13 round magazines (same mags as the Beretta and Browning BDA) are available from Mec-Gar’s website. If you’d like to compare it with your Beretta 84 and 85, I’ll be happy to ship it to an FFL near you.

Nice gun! I got one of those single stacked Beretta’s from the cold war days, great history to these fire arms!

  15. cranby80 on May 7, 2023 at 4:14 am

Beretta 85bb adopted in Italy by the "Guardia di Finanza". You can see G.F. under the serial number.

  16. Gary Owen on May 7, 2023 at 4:16 am

I just got mine. I mean JUST. Haven’t disassembled, cleaned or fired yet, haven’t even cycled dummy rounds.
One thing I noticed, there is red paint on the inboard portion of the spring loaded extractor. It appears to be the same color (it’s just a smidge of red paint) as the safe/ fire paint. I think it’s a “loaded chamber” indicator. It would also be tactile if the painted portion of the extractor is exposed.
Just wondering if this is what it is. Anyone know?

Where can I get one , in tx austin

  22. smartacus88 on May 7, 2023 at 4:29 am

The 80X is ugly as hell. Beretta totally missed the mark on that one. Clueless to what guys are looking for in such a pistol. It sure ain’t another polymer wonder-nine lookalike.

  23. N.S.S on May 7, 2023 at 4:31 am

Iv got an early 84 made in 1977 so very early and that gun just runs. One of my most prized pistols I love it. The round trigger guard on the old ones is just classic.

  24. steve trainer on May 7, 2023 at 4:33 am

What were they doing in 1526? throwing Beretta bricks,, lol

  25. Bob on May 7, 2023 at 4:33 am

I love berettas ❤ expecially illegal ones because they’re all illegal in Britain

  26. Walter Schiller on May 7, 2023 at 4:33 am

Have one in 32acp. Great little gun. Have Browning BDA in 380 acp. Love them.

  27. Peter Gradilone on May 7, 2023 at 4:33 am

Great review. I have had my 85F since 1990, and it indeed is "A work of art" as well as being tough, robust and very reliable. A couple of interesting facts: Many 80 models, like mine, have extremely durable bores due to chromium plating. You can also have the magazine disconnect easily removed or installed, depending on your preference (Consult your owners manual). I did a reverse Bond and traded in my Walther PPK for the Beretta. The Walther is beautiful and (007) cool to own, but in my experience, it just will not hold up to many range practice rounds like the Beretta.

I recently bought an 85F for 450.00 and it is in like new condition. It is a beautiful piece and it goes well with my other Berettas. My 85F has a decocker, which I really like.

  33. Randy Clark on May 7, 2023 at 4:39 am

Where can I get one? Or two, or three. All joking aside, I am a big fan of Beretta. I really wish I could find one of the trade ins.

  34. A D C on May 7, 2023 at 4:41 am

I had the 85FS, I disagree a little on the recoil.
I find it a little abrupt and after few shots was living marks on my hand. But the gun is super accurate as you said. I love the new 80x series I can’t wait to try one 👋

  35. Linda Wallace on May 7, 2023 at 4:43 am

How much does it cost ?

  36. Matthew Loga on May 7, 2023 at 4:43 am

I loved the 81. it was a smooth shooter and better than a 22. a nice house gun or garden gun.

  37. Dennis Severns on May 7, 2023 at 4:46 am

I have an 84FS I bought in 2001 love it.

Any issues with your 84s-85s? I had to replace the trigger return spring on my 84FS in 2012

  38. Casull on May 7, 2023 at 4:46 am

This was HIGHLY no no gun , because it supposed to be Italian cop issue.
Av. Joe just keep on dreaming .. how NFA European 🙂

  39. Ben W on May 7, 2023 at 4:46 am

Bought the Tisas Copy. Doesn’t feed brass cased ammo only nickel plated ammo. Also transmits recoil painfully into the web of your hands. Does the Beretta suffer from these issues too?

  40. Chase Allen on May 7, 2023 at 4:49 am

What causes the maroon color on certain bluing on the order berettas? My 92S has the maroon tint all over it, same with my makarovs.

Ok, I love guy, and his reviews have gotten me to buy acouple of guns. However, after years of following him, I have never seen him talk about a firearm that he didn’t like. Never seen a negative review.

    Looks like beretta 9000s

  48. N.S.S on May 7, 2023 at 5:00 am

Did you put those grips on your 84 to preserve the original ones that are hard to get? They’re a different style I been looking for a spare just Incase

  49. Kent Hobbs on May 7, 2023 at 5:01 am

What holster do you use for the 85?

  50. Ricky Kurtz on May 7, 2023 at 5:03 am

.380 is a very bear minimum for a self defense round. In could climates because of the clothing needed to stay warm it could be ineffective.
