$70 for a mag? Fuckin stupid. Someone should have had a brain and made it Magpul. Won’t be buying that.
My question is, is the barrel and components interchangeable to other calipers with the lower chassis?
Ok.. so this verses the bergara bmp? What would people choose. Itās $300 difference.
Hello, I’m in 3D school and I must make this weapon in 3D, someone can help me to find the blueprint ? (sorry for the english, I’m French)
Accuracy? Any can shoot when you pull the trigger. Stupid review.
Well…. I got myself a LRR for Christmas… So while I unpacking and inspecting I noticed the mag was stamped .308… I have 308’s… but this is my first 6.5… I sent emails out to S&W and T/C… not a response yet… but I feel better now that I see yours is also stamped .308!
any options for folding stock?
This rifle gets 2 stars for the reason that there have been a great number of people on forums having the exact same problem that I am having with the trigger sticking. Some people reported that it fires after releasing the trigger. S&W will put a new trigger in of the same type however that doesn’t take care of the underlying safety issues with their trigger. This is a huge safety issue that S&W will not remedy. Mine has already been to the shop and still has the same problem.
Don’t waste your money on Thompson Center Rifles. I wish that there was a lemon law for firearms.
Possible safety issues with this rifle!
Great job Sootch !!!
just ordered one im excited
Nice sir thanks for the video. Which scope is that?
You need a down Range camera
Oh yes in .243 Win.
Greets from CanadašØš¦š¤
Do you have to remove the stock to remove the bolt?
I just finish my .224 Valkyrie build, and this is going to be my next rifle!
Oh I’m buying one really soon like in the next couple of weeks!!
Model on the scope?
nice watch you have on during shooting this T/C LRR.. I would take you watch off if your planning on keeping it.. I had a Hamilton watch
stopped working.. must of taken to many trips to the range.. and I FORGET HAD ON.. .. just a thought.
Disappointed that your review did not disclose the fact that every time you eject a shell with the 6.5 Creedmoor version of the TC LRR that the casing gets flipped and strikes the upper receiver leaving a dink on the receiver and a flat spot on the mouth of the brass casing! Thompson says this is "NORMAL" and returned my rifle to me with a different bolt in it???
Can the barrel be change in this gun
Review the T/C G2 contender pistol for a video.
Iām buying this gun for sure, could you give me the exact name of the scope and type of rings to buy?…thank you for the video
.308 barrels last 3 times longer and have killed all the big game in North America.
Hey sootch How’s it stand up to rpr and savage stealth. Great videos. I really appreciate your help. You do such a good job. Thank you for the video
That scope is almost 3x more than the rifle!
This has to be the worst review you have made. What ever they payed you was too much. You were to review the rifle not the ammo. You did not even read the manual which shows you how to remove the bolt. The rifle has a one MOA guarantee yet your friend who is a long range shooter never shot any groups!
Is this gun worth $1,000?? The Australian guy who reviewed this said itās not worth the asking price!
6.5 Creedmoor = Low recoil, flat ballistics, but after 600M low retained energy. .308 Win. = Moderate recoil, decent ballistics, after ~800M loses energy. Where .308 Win. gains is in a long throated long action: 208 ELD-Ms loaded with RL-17 at 2700 FPS are possible if loaded long (3.00" – 3.10" OAL) like a 6.5 C. This is where the .308 potentially snuffs out 6.5s, including the Magnum variety which burn out barrels quicker.
Likewise, the .30-06 gains new life with a long throated, longer barrel, hurling 215 Grain Bergers at 2750 and 225 TMKs at 2700 when loaded long like a 6.5C.
RL-17 is a great powder, an equalizer. One doesn’t have to go up to a magnum or down to a 6.5/7 to get the most out of a .30. One just has to load what one has right.
The US Army in its quest to be different and waste money accomplishes that handily. That isn’t a good thing. The 6.5 it should be looking at is the 6.5 Grendel loaded with 120-123 grain bullets as a service round, SAW/LMG and DMR round. The 6.5C isn’t worth the changeover. If Western (or any militaries) went 6.5 Grendel/.300 PRC, they’d upgrade.
Loading 7.62N and .30US like a Creedmoor in the right weapons outclasses the Creedmoor, where more recoil occurs but far superior ballistics are gained.
The 5.56N limited as a 300M round makes some sense, but its ballistics after 150M are marginal. It needs rifle men and limited fire/bursts to be more combat effective, not a return to "spray and pray" with hand burning "thumb over bore" wanker shooting stance. The US Army as usual is stuck on stupid.
Sporting-wise, the 7mm-08 is a better choice than the 6.5 Creedmoor. Unless one is bound to a short action, it isn’t even the best 6.5 target choice, because a 6.5×55 loaded for a modern action with modern powders is its superior, a better choice than 6.5-.284 when one considers barrel life. In a tactical rifle with a barrel 20" long or less, the 6.5C isn’t a better choice than a .308.
What the 6.5 C offers is a case study validating sectional density and adapting non magnum cases to achieve magnum-worthy ballistics. When this data is cross applied to existent calibers like .308 W and .30-06, the .30s win. When these concepts guide the development of intermediate rounds, the 6.5 Grendel emerges as an excellent military round. So the advent of the 6.5C should be taken cautiously as a means to improve what we already have.
As an aside, the 6mm Creedmoor is probably the best all around 6mm cartridge.
what the HELL is up with the shorty shorts???
Really itās a very good price on that rifle.
I seen a comparison between the 243 and 6.5 the 243 is better sounds like you’re trying to sell the 6.5
Nice gun.I had a hard time deciding between this Thompson and a Remington 700.I’ve been shooting a Thompson Aristocrat with double set triggers 7mm magnum since 1983. They make great guns. However I did buy the Remington 700 because I think it will be easier to find updates for it.Great Video Sootch00
You made an error when comparing 6.5 creedmoor and .308. You said "less barrel life on the creedmoor because of its higher velocity"…this is totally 100 percent wrong. The creed is SLOW coming thru the barrel, but faster down range because of the long narrow shape of the bullet. Both the 308 and creedmoor have muzzle velocities in that 2600-2800fps range depending on bullet weight and load which is not all that fast. The fact that it is moving faster down range does not harm the barrel in any way shape or form….but they both have very similar muzzle velocity.
quite similar to the MDT LSS chassis with the skeleton stock
So what was robbies thoughts on this rifle. Seeing how he builds them was he impressed. I know Iām impressed and like the fact smith added TC to this rifle not a single shot but has the quality that TC is know for. Wasnāt happy about the buy out but today itās happening more and more.
Purchased mine @ Buds Gun Shop for $1056. The only thing had issues with was the soft case. The inside ripped the first time I carried the rifle in it. I guess the case couldnāt handle the weight.
The trigger mechanism on the TC Performance Center LRR is a complete piece crap…not buy one!
Really good review. I like how you reviewed the gun and gave us a short comparison between the 6.5 vs 308. I was sold on the DD Delta5 but after your review Iām considering this now.
Should have shot some 100yd groups
$70 for the mag ??!! š²
As a long range hunting rifle for elk. Would this work? Besides the weight… A fit man on a 10 mile trip in Mt. of Colorado. Shooting from the ridge. Does, anyone think this would work? Not for all trips but for those long glassing trips?
That rifle would look just beautiful on the window of my ranch to ward off commies.
Dang if those are some high rings… Why the cantilever mount? Get some medium height rings and attach it straight to the rail
Have one in 243 Winchester heading my way.
1. Any time you remove material from a barrel you lessen rigidity
2. āLoad the mag from the frontā because Iāve never loaded one from the rear
3. Youāre videoing this for us to view on YouTube, who cares if itās safety checked. I donāt feel Iām in any danger if you didnāt.
Opinion of the LRR vs the RPR?

āwouldja look at that!?ā
š I really hope someone gets this.
To think I almost spent 2-$300 more on a Ruger Precision.
Is this the 24" or 26"?
Just bought this! What scope do you recommend?
