Should have bought the lakeline as soon as you bought the Taurus and replaced it.

  3. samuel lopes on July 22, 2022 at 7:41 pm

I installed my lakeline recoil spring tuesday when i picked up my new G2.. i put the stock one on ebay…

  4. Avatar Gunner on July 22, 2022 at 7:46 pm

Nice video glad for the update just curious does it look like Taurus redesigned the new recoil spring or does it still look like it’s the same as the old one?

  5. Scott F. on July 22, 2022 at 7:47 pm

Nice follow up vid as glad you got your part…Good stuff…

  6. ElijahJohn888 on July 22, 2022 at 7:49 pm

Thanks for the up date 🙂

I think when most people talk about increased accuracy with a steel or tungsten guide rod, they aren’t talking about one shot accuracy, but the accuracy of follow up shots. The increased weight helps to decrease felt recoil and, in turn, can improve accuracy.
Good to see Taurus making good on issues with the G2…even if it does take a while.

Have learned a lot from all your videos, so thanks for taking the time to making them. I just got the Taurus PT-111 Mill G2 on 4-5-17 for the incredible price of $209.99. ($238 +tax+background check). Couldn’t pass it up. Entered the Serial # in Taurus website, and it displayed the gun being manufactured in Feb, 2017. It still has the plastic guide rod & spring. Taurus has not changed anything. That’s ok though. If I have problems, I’ll order the SS from Lakeline. I may just do it and get it over with. I’d love to see how it holds up after 4000 rounds.

For me, the big thing that I noticed between the stock spring and the Lakeline unit is the stronger tension in the slide and the recoil impulse is a bit different. I think the Lakeline unit functions with more authority going in to battery and each trigger pull. Thank you for posting your update!!

Glad you got the recoil assembly. I’ve heard too many stories about people having problems with the OEM recoil assembly, and I never trusted that polymer assembly on such a critical part, so I bought the Lakeline stainless steel recoil kit right away. I’ve put 900 rounds through the OEM assembly with no failures, but I’ll just use the Lakeline assembly from now on and keep the OEM for backup. Thanks for your excellent documentation of this problem. Love your channel.

I have the lakeland guiderod and spring too so I’d love to see your results!

  12. MJ on July 22, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Did you have to send them the original part or did they basically send you a no questions asked replacement? Thank you!

  13. mrbucket75 on July 22, 2022 at 8:18 pm

Off subject, I did order the Lakeline stainless steel and spring assembly a bit back, but I want to know if you have interest in the fiber optic sights from them? Thanks, great channel and resource!

At least it came. I called Smith and Wesson for a replacement rod and spring assembly and had it in my hand 5 days later. I was considering giving Taurus a chance because I see they’re doing better. But that new one-year warranty doesn’t make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Lakeline. Get the stainless steel recoil assembly. Problem fixed forever.

  16. Gil Melendez on July 22, 2022 at 8:25 pm

Hi i just watched your video on the replacement recoil spring guide rod kit for the PT 111 G2 9mm, i talked to Taurus and they are still making this guide rod spring kit out of polymer or plastic, in spite of what i heard that they were now using stainless steel and that is not true, but i did order the spring kit guide rod in stainless steel from Lakeline LLC and it worked very well for me, it only cost me 36.00 plus 4.00 for shipping so 40.00 total and it arrived real quick, to replace the OEM one from Taurus they wanted 40.00, so i decided to go with Lakeline’s and it works great, accuracy i did not really see much of a difference.

do you thing I could call them and get one an assembly for my 24 7 .40

  18. Jim Kovac on July 22, 2022 at 8:32 pm

I’m in the same boat. Waiting (6 weeks now) for a PT 709 Slim guide rod and spring from Taurus myself.

  19. Karen Hatcher on July 22, 2022 at 8:33 pm

What is the white film on the smaller spring ? Mine has that too.

  20. Tige Reese Sr on July 22, 2022 at 8:34 pm

Good video ..can you give a review on the Taurus 24/7 G2c….. chambered in 45acp?

  21. crypto Timmy on July 22, 2022 at 8:36 pm

what about more weight on the front of the gun with the stainless guide rod. Then Factory guide rod. What do you think?

  22. outdoor guinea71 on July 22, 2022 at 8:36 pm

Polymer will bend and warp eventually ; i replaced both my guide rods immediately in both my smith wesson and taurus ; i noticed a big difference in the action

  23. ratagris21 on July 22, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Great follow up and update video. Glad they came through for you. The testing of the two springs is a good idea. The only thing I would say is that you may feel less recoil with the steel recoil spring guide rod set up versus the OEM set up. I exchanged steel for OEM on a Glock 22 and put in a .357 sig barrel and there is a difference there, but accuracy was the same as along as I did my part. I would like to see your testing results. Good Idea. Like another view said about the springs is the reliability factor of going into battery for sure.
