TC Compass 2 groups and review
This video is about my son’s Thomson Center Compass 2, Compact model. It is chambered in 308 and is an exceptional value. We show a few groups and talk about the rifle in this video. Hope this helps someone. The trigger pull is VERY crisp. I will do another video on this rifle with the trigger pull gauge and showing how to adjust the stock for a longer length of pull. It is a great rifle because he can grow into it!! And he loves shooting it. It is topped with a vortex crossfire 2 3 – 9 x 50 optic. Setup is for deer hunting, replacing a 243 savage axis that he has been using.
This is all shot at our private range which is insured and laid out per national regulations.
Bought one in Dec, not the youth model though, and am looking forward to trying it out. I have 18 different handloads ready to go so all I need to do is got hit the range and see which one it likes. I intend to pop some whitetail does here in TX this fall with it.
Kid shoots good !! Glad yours likes cheap ammo . gotta have 180gr for mine (not youth model)
I got the 308 and the barrel does not sit flush to the front of the forend and there’s almost a 1/2 inch gap.wondering if you or anyone else has the same issue
update. I did get the Compass II in .308 Win. Out of the box, .5 MOA. Measured outside at a 100 yard range. Then I eventually put it in an Oryx chassis because I like chassis. Also, the factory trigger on mine through several 20 pull runs? 2 pounds 7.7 ounces.
Length of the video is 5:56 lol nice
I got my t/c compass in 308 about a year ago for a great price . It shoots great .
Got the 308 compass II as well. That trigger is NICE. Great little gun. Steel case isn’t much of an issue for bolt guns. A plus for us. ππΌππΌ
I saw another vid. The factory spec on the trigger is meant to be 3.5 pounds. But the guy testing it averaged 2 pounds 15 ounces. That is as good as some of the Mossberg triggers and even better than a Remington trigger that he had.
And I have just ordered one in this caliber, .308 Win, my favorite (my other rifles are .308 Win except for the one that is 5.56 NATO.) I have ano old Vortex Crossfire II 3x-9x / 40 mm hanging around and I will put it on there. Just have to decide if I want to zero at 100 and use the BDC or zero for 250 yards and have a 4 inch rise and fall in the point blank range.
I like the features on this, including the bolt locked safety. But what I really like is the sub MOA grouping. Aim small, miss small. I saw another vid from another guy testing at 275 yards at a shade less than 2 inches. That is sub MOA.
