I have owned and reviewed many pump shotguns over the years and the Maverick 88 really is one of the best deals around when it comes to pump shotguns.

I got mine at a pawn shop for 120 bucks best money I ever spent on a shotgun for the house 5+1 tube 18.5 inch barrel runs everything I put through it have had it for at least 8 years

Bought the maverick 88 in 20 gauge put a few rounds through just like the mossberg 500 in 12 gauge I had good shooting shotguns will keep mine for a good long while
Great value at a low price. For home defense buy three 88s and stash them around the house to grab and go instead of reloading!

Anyways yeah I bought this gun and liked it so much I wanted a second one. Now I’m putting $50 aside each paycheck to buy one for some people very close to me so they’ll have it when they move away. (I’ll pay but in their name when I’ve got enough) Them gonna do same for my Dad etc. What a great gun for the price

You can’t go wrong with a Maverick 88 I own 2 of them an all purpose and a security along with several Mossbergs a 590, 500 , 835 and also a 535 which was my Father in laws and I gave to my Son
When these 88’s made the scene I thought swell, a cheap-ass version of the clunky 500. Shooting a buddies Maverick a few years back surprised me. It handled and shot well, was rather light and looked pretty cool. Think he paid $189 for it. For a first 12ga, this ain’t at all a bad gun. It’s not an 870 but maybe a better value (depending on your use). Thoroughly enjoyed the experience, lotsa fun.
My only Mossberg is an old 500E pistol grip .410 Camper model #50335 from late 1980’s.
Sad, that in Europe it costs 400 dollars and many sellers here talks about bad Mexican quality?? Market here is full about Turkish and Chinese shotguns… As officer, we have some Benelli shotguns, but we can´t use them, because people can take it too agressive. Crazy time. So we use MP5. So I am looking for some shotguns to home, with good price value. Is Mossberg M88 easy to personalize? Any compensator, light and so on? Will use it just like funny shooting on shooting range.

I must have the "lemon", with pins working their way out in dry fire cycling tests. I figure it’ll do the 2-3 shots I might need one day, but I’d need a sewing thimble to keep pushing trigger group pin. I wanna like it, so I don’t buy something else, lol

A shotgun has so much devastating impact on its targets. Shot guns are my favorite guns. I was 19 and a shotgun was my very first gun.

I picked up one of these at Big5 sportings good last year. Paid $269 with a military discount. Without it, it would’ve been about $300. Great shotgun.

Bought a Mav 88 with a 28 inch barrel more than 3 years ago. Been trying to get a 18 1/2 inch barrel for 3 years. Mossberg says Covid delays. Supply chain delays. Work force delays. But, 3 year wait for a barrel ???!!!??? What happened to Mossberg customer support ? Good shotgun. Disappointing service.
Does the Mossberg heat shield really do much other than look cool? Apparently, it stayed in place. 👍 Still see bead sight easily?

Have had my similarly all black 88 security model for about 2 years and love it. Just literally ordered another one yesterday identical to mine as a gift for my son’s birthday coming next week. What kills me is that the price of this gun *HAS NOT CHANGED* since I purchased mine nearly 2 years ago. I paid $230 when I found mine and discovered it was still $230 when I ordered another yesterday afternoon…..
