I feel like most people choose a knife that is too long. The thinking is that longer is better because of the additional reach and penetration potential. The problem is that a knife in use is a lever and the longer the blade is the more strength you need to hold on to it when force is applied to the tip of the blade. A large easy to grip handle and a reasonable length blade that offers little resistance in penetration and slicing is ideal. The average person would be better served by a knife that can be easily controlled and held on to than a big scarry knife that can be knocked out of their hands more easily.
Not a single glass breaker or seat belt cutter in sight. Tactical my ass.
There is a misconception that you need a huge blade for self defense. The best you are at using a knife the shorter the blade you need…… That said nice knives
I bought a Ruike 128 for self defense.
It seems perfectly fine, but the handle is made of stainless steel.
Might that cause problems?
Yes kids don’t play with knifes . I remember as a kid playing chicken with are poket knifes. Bad idea ! First thing I look at is cost because if I lose a 100 dollar knife I be mad but if I lose 200 or more then I’m really mad. Two dose it fit my hand I have big hands . So I wish Kershaw made a leak that didn’t feel like a toy in my hand. Three what metle is the blade made of . And last warranty life time or close to that . And one thing I remember being told by family and miltiry . The man how wish he was prepared is the man how been attached not being .
Sooo…Where can I get this Boker auto knife? The strike??
bla bla bla….
What’s the name of the knife at 5:09 ??
I love the Benchmade Adamas and am shocked it wasn’t mentioned.
The problem with the Emerson, is that, yes it opens when you remove from the pocket. But you grab the knife with your finger tips, then you have to halter the grip. This can take to long. For self defence, you want a knife that when you grab it and pull out it is already in your hand.
You should probably also keep in mind if you can operate the knife easily with gloves on
Budget my ckrt knives all fell apart (o ring bulging, bolts falling out- after years of use) otherwise i really was happy with them …i had a spyderco many years ago and it was my favourite carry(a bit thin for light prying and far out of my price range now)…i carry a cold steel voyageur now because i could afford it at the time and it was adequate (too expensive now in kanada went from $69 to $99)…4 inches is minimum for my robust work needs (would save a LOT of time looking if manufacturers would include that info in the heading…at a certin size it gets a bit difficult for many uses i would like to see more in the 4.5inch size myself (over 5 might as well be a fixed blade fore me)…great video , thanks…Creator bless…doug
Good video and solid points. However i disagree on the autolawks and the safety’s on assisted/auto knives. Why? Because in a self defense scenario i really coulndt care less how fast i can CLOSE it. Thats an afterthought right? How fast you can open it is very important. So comparing the two is useless
I know this is old but you are putting out a bad message. A person in defense should never stab somebody. If you need a knife to save your life you cut the bad guy. An you only cut them until they are no longer a threat. Anything else an even a great lawyer isn’t going to get you off. Then if you live in a city run by liberals no matter what you do if you use a knife your going to jail. You might beat the charge but not if you stabbed them more then once. That said better tried by 12 then carried by 6.
Biggest thing is if its a true scandi grind with no micro bevel. You can never get micro bevel scandi grind knives razor sharp. Ive had to mod my knives to true scandi it takes alot of work
No socom elite?
Need legal knife for protection / survival when hiking on trails in woods should wolf, bobcat, cougar or mountain lion attacks…
Want ability to quickly deploy, slash, deter, seriously injure or kill any of the animals above if I’m attacked…
I’ve got a Recon 1 and yes, it does wear away your pocket because the grip is so aggressive. But the handle is so darn good and slip-resistant that it’s worth it.
I liked crkt 21 and the hogue ex01 thanks.
Benchmade Fact is absolutely amazing.
Pizza butt?
I got a nice Ozark Trail folding knife for $5 lol
BOYCOTT BENCHMADE!
ANTI 2ND AMENDMENT
I have never clicked on a video faster
99%people can not stab othetr human being cos its more lots more personal then fire arm. And every knife is good for self defens
A knife is a tool to me. I carry 3 1/4" to 4" blade knives and if I need a knife for defense things have gone way South. I have a concealed carry for that and really hope I never need it. Just the same, it’s life insurance.
I wish i could carry these knives but i live in nyc and you know nyc laws are strict even if you’re military.
I’ve had 2 CRKT M16s & loved them both. My 1st was the M16-14Z, which was a Zytel handled knife. I LOVED it, it was light & it held a great edge. The ONLY reason I gave it up was because I wound up selling it after my wife bought me a new (at the time) CRKT 16-14T (all titanium body. BOTH had the CRKT "Auto-LAWKS" feature that was an extra lock to CLOSE the knife. This feature NEVER bothered me. Granted, my primary use for it was general utility at work in a kitchen like opening up & breaking down boxes, so I certainly appreciated the fact that I KNEW neither would close on me.
I SWEAR by my CRKT knives. While I would LOVE to have a Benchmade or an Emmerson, CRKT’s knives are just as good (to ME anyway) & DEFINITELY less expensive than the other 2 brands.
Guys is found a 4 dollars folding knife on amazon it’s the best and the blade is awesome I have it now for a year
you said "without further ado" twice, and both times kept talking.
you can BUY now super tactical Pocket Knife for camping https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stiletto-Folding-Tactical-Pocket-Knife-Spring-Open-Assisted-for-camping-Knives/363154411253
I was once coming home when two men stopped me and pressed my pocket. I wasn’t carrying my phone that day. I didn’t usually do go out with my phone.
I need a knife that I can defend myself with. They look too small. I want to be as far as I can from them.
Do you think those knifes will be okay?
I did a search for this specific topic and I found your channel, that’s a win/win! I have to say my favorite in the video is the M-16, mainly because at first glance I thought it was the Benchmade Adamas which I really like the design of. Getting ready to order an M-16 now lol.
11;40 no other knife …the second one you showed us the crkt m21;140sfg and does it better
If it’s speed you’re after then the important thing is how fast it can be deployed from a pocket, vest, belt or other before one even thinks about opening it. It’s no good if it gets caught up on webbing, clothing etc. the flipper bar accidentally engages the knife via your body and or clothing and you end up stabbing yourself LOL.
It’s poop from budget buck out

You completely forget the best:( benchmade adamas 275
Cold Steel spartan?
Hey Buddy @ 11:41 nice watch do you have the G shock exact model thanks nice vid I like how you add the cons in every model keep it honest thanks stay prepared AMO US Army MP Police Company California
Nice thing about any of those with the G10 grips, you can always use some fine grip sandpaper to smooth them down a bit.
Anyone who recommends a folder over a fixed blade hasn’t been trained. The only time you should pick a folder over a fixed blade for defensive purposes is if you like to pretend you’re a serious armed citizen or your local laws are fuckin tyrannical and don’t allow you to concealed carry fixed blades.
Alot easier to review a blade when it is " sent to you"……just saying
On the CRKT M-16 , the only time the extra step would come into play is when you are putting it away. But upon an emergency opening, self defense situation, the extra safety would not be a problem.
If you want or need to use a knife as a weapon, get regular training.
The Spyderco Manix 2XL is my favorite EDC & is a very "tactical" knife in my opinion. I always wonder why it doesn’t get talked about in tactical knife discussions?

When looking for the best cool pocket knives, you ought to follow a couple of crucial tricks with regard to the knife blade, knife size, and other knife dimensions. It doesn’t matter whether you are a soldier casually looking for the best tactical pocket knife or some crazy knife enthusiast who wants to possess the best cool pocket knives.

Tacticool = gimmick = more things to fail. That goes for many things, not just knives.
