Excellent video! I had wondered what had happened to them. I had the privilege to meet with Gary to interview him about the history and company right before Covid. Actually got to see and video the Pro9. Maybe we will see them again.
Being left handed this was a dream come true; an ambi single stack. I sent it in for the upgrade and it came back unaltered. I gave Gary constructive input about setting up his quality department after that. After a year of zero ammo and the release of high capacity single stacks I reluctantly let it go. I hope it was adopted into a good home. Thank you Gary Ramey for the effort!

Thank you for a thorough breakdown of the Honor Guard. I had heard they used feedback from law enforcement and military, but I wasn’t aware of the specifics of what changes were made.
They were great company just not make any difference or advantage over Kahr or Shield…shoulda done a 9mm double stack and beat everyone else by years..
I worked security including armored and never ever carry a small single stack like this plus no level 2 plus holsters for this at all

I think Savage baught them out. Just saw a picture on Graham Baates channel.
I was never interested in it I could see the need if somebody doesn’t have the income very sad to see any Firearms manufacturer go under
I have one did not know of this issue. I wonder how I get the voluntary recall done now they are out of business. This makes me scared to carry it. I guess it will be fine in the nightstand.
I bought an early one. I later got a long slide, which is something that I really wanted. The only complaints were the smooth slide serrations, and the loss in confidence due to the safety drop issue. I did get the slides upgraded, but I soon stopped carrying it. I’ll probably keep it for now, but I’ve moved on to a different EDC.

Four years later and I cannot get a response from Gary Ramey AND the Honor Defense website is no longer…
So I have a gun I am concerned to carry, or sell to my left handed friends!

I am totally bummed as it is a great gun with well thought features for CCW use (the slide stop levers ARE a bit small, but you will never apply them by mistake!!).

We are very proud of our design and I still carry/shoot ole #2 every day.
A number of firearm execs (that can carry any pistol they want) still carry theirs.
As for our issues, it was parts availability.
Large gun companies swooped in and bought the capacity.
The website was not really an issue, the store was closed out early in our startup time due to financial discrimination by the credit card processor.
When we were alerted to the issue, we responded with a new site (using woo commerce) within 10 days.
The GA AG RINO would not pursue it.
We switched and no problems afterwards.
As for safety, the firearm passed all DOJ and SAAMI/ANSI drop and jar off tests.
The fact is that all firearms will discharge if mis-handled, dropped a certain way etc.
Lawsuits are common in the firearm industry
Oddly enough, one Youtuber struck an HD 27 times with a hammer to make it go off…..
Then showed the 27th strike and said it was unsafe.
I think that youtuber is unsafe!
Why don’t you hear about that with alot of guns?
Answer is easy….they advertise alot and send free product to Influencers.

If I’m looking to purchase one how do I know if it was upgraded to be drop safe?
I saw today that Savage probably took these over. Recently some of the Honor Guard pistols with the stand-off frame showed up at a local pawn shop, of course the price was ridiculous. Scheels carried them, but stopped and closed them out for 300.
I still carry mine to this day. Its been bumped like crazy, but never gone off without intention since i bought it new years ago. I don’t think it had the fix done to it, and i never sent it in. I trust my life to it, and almost had to employ it recently.
Thank you for a truthful review/video. A lot of times when things like this happen in the firearm business, it just gets ignored. It reminds of when something bad or embarrassing happens in whichever political party one supports, it just gets ignored. Thank you for a factual account of what happened with Honor Defense.

I know how it was ruined … A gun company built a gun that isn’t drop safe ? Lol common this gun was just another single stack with no new ideas is why there gone.. There’s reason sccy sells so many guns there 169
Can you tell us when they did the upgrade. I’m gonna be buying One of these to where in an ankle holster or inner thigh, depending on what I’m wearing obviously. I want to assure that I buy a pistol with a date that shows that it has been manufactured with these changes before I purchase one
