The SIG MCX Spear LT: New MCX, Old Caliber…

For this episode of TFBTV, Hop and Luke traveled to New Hampshire to check out the new MCX Spear LT at the new SIG Experience Center and range. The new lighter weight version of the MCX incorporates features from both the M5 Spear NGSW rifle and the original MCX Virtus. It’s also available in a new caliber option… but I’ll let Phil Strader tell you about that.

When Flannel Daddy and Uncle Hop review the same gun on the same day, it must be a sign from God that I need to fork over the money to buy this

  2. Bombs Away on September 18, 2022 at 8:37 pm

Nice rifle, but $2500….not sure this offers anything worth double the price of an AR or AK.

  3. George Nelson on September 18, 2022 at 8:40 pm

A 6.5 Grendel barrel would be nice

  4. zonda16 on September 18, 2022 at 8:41 pm

When will California get them ???????

  5. Lynx Actual on September 18, 2022 at 8:42 pm

$2,500 for something that still can’t do what the AR-15 does better

  6. All About Survival on September 18, 2022 at 8:42 pm

I believe it is really has an impressive features. I like how it is completely backwards compatible with all the MCX virtus model.

Great to see Hop smile so much. Now we know the secret to Hop’s happiness: Phil.

  8. MrEdgy on September 18, 2022 at 8:43 pm

Interesting they would offer 7.62×39, thats what I built my ar in. Gives me hope for better ammo selection in the future.

  9. RetroCNY on September 18, 2022 at 8:43 pm

I think it’s definitely a big improvement over the vertus, but for that kinda price tag I am absolutely not gonna be a first adopter type lol. We’ll see if any bugs pop up and get ironed out over the first year or so, then we’ll see.

  11. BrandonRides on September 18, 2022 at 8:44 pm

It’s not available yet at the Sig Experience Center. I called today. Unless the guy bullshit me.

  12. erattic1 on September 18, 2022 at 8:48 pm

They can’t get the Virtus to the market .No way this is going to be readily available.

  13. D D on September 18, 2022 at 8:49 pm

In ten years when I can afford this I will be interested lol

  14. TheDungeon999 on September 18, 2022 at 8:49 pm

  15. Southern Yankee on September 18, 2022 at 8:49 pm

  16. madseason, its a madseason on September 18, 2022 at 8:52 pm

Good lookn weapon and I love the multi caliber aspect. It’s like being in a candy store tryn to pick ur fav one. Puts a smile on my face boys!

  17. ivaniuk123 on September 18, 2022 at 8:55 pm

They need to release a 308 or 277 furry version.

  18. Armed Diver on September 18, 2022 at 8:56 pm

I bought the [original] MCX in 300 BLK with a 16”, which was at the time, and then they stopped making it in 16” and NEVER made the 7.62×39. If they actually make it in 300 BLK with a 16” barrel I will buy one, but I am not holding my breath.

  19. Honza Balák on September 18, 2022 at 9:01 pm

    5.45×39 when?

  20. WaterZer0 on September 18, 2022 at 9:03 pm

    lol no side charging handle
Literally the same thing as before.

  21. Jared Conklin on September 18, 2022 at 9:04 pm

This is pretty rad. Maybe I’ll buy one in a couple of years

  22. MrJohn on September 18, 2022 at 9:04 pm

Would be cool to see it with the side charger also 🤷‍♂️

  23. Mattycakes on September 18, 2022 at 9:05 pm

Literally my only questio.. Will the gen 3 uppers be backwards compatible with my Gen2 virtus lower? Please say yes.

  24. Kody Moss on September 18, 2022 at 9:05 pm

The difference in weight between the Virtus and the LT seems minuscule, in fact all of the changes with the LT seem to be mostly ergonomic aside from the fact it can take AR fire control groups. I am still not convinced that Sig is gonna give us the different barrels and and caliber conversions as promised with previous generations, and if they do they will be out of stock and the prices of the ones that are in stock will be sky high, just go to their website and look at how much spare parts for the Virtus cost, I’m still debating on if I want to keep mine.

  25. MYNAMEISFROWNER on September 18, 2022 at 9:08 pm

I think they’re kinda shooting themselves in the foot in not making the 7.62×39 variant take AK mags and selling their own with followers in them to engage the catch. It’s not like those don’t exist in the wild either.

  26. Tylr on September 18, 2022 at 9:08 pm

Damn, you can really see Which creators Sig likes…
    Gunscom
    TBD
    GarandThumb
    Military Arms Channel
All drop videos on the same stupid gun in the same day…

Bet NutnFancy doesn’t get shit because he’d tell you exactly what Effed up on the rifle, or whether its worth the 3K it’s gonna cost.

  27. BNatoAK on September 18, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Perfect timing to release a mcx in 762×39 😒

  28. Practice Practice on September 18, 2022 at 9:09 pm

Thank you. It’s great to see Sig stuff that will virtually never be on the shelf to buy………
Honestly, when was the last time you saw a sig Virtus (11.5′ or 16′) on the shelf in the past 6 years… Out of the 5 local shops (more that one is a Sig premium dealer) I have only seen 1 Virtus (16′) and a 2 300BO Rattlers….total…in 6 years.
Don’t get me wrong, I want one, I just don’t know how to get one……….. (other than GunBroker for $$$$$$$$)
Only YouTubers get these types of things in the first few years……..

  29. Reuben Oaks on September 18, 2022 at 9:10 pm

Sig is great at innovation which I really do enjoy, they just need to do more in house testing before releasing products. I am very hopeful for the LT and would like to get a 300blk and 7.62×39 pistol versions after they have been proven and all the kinks fixed, I find it best to wait at least a year before purchasing an all new firearm from any manufacturer.

  30. Colton Owens on September 18, 2022 at 9:10 pm

Sig overcharges, and underdelivers on reliability with damn near every release. Still wondering how they managed to fuck up a bolt action rifle.

  31. Mic Nor on September 18, 2022 at 9:11 pm

Here’s what I wanna know: magazines for the 7.62 variant.

  32. Ralphie’s revenge on September 18, 2022 at 9:12 pm

GET SIG TO MAKE STRIAGHT PULL VERSIONS FOR THE UK CIVILIAN MARKET NOW

  34. CW7 Legion Of Pew Rights on September 18, 2022 at 9:12 pm

The MCX is a great looking rifle but the logistics still will never beat a AR15 in the civilian realm. As long sig gradually makes it more available for everyone the rifle will then replace the AR15. I’m curious on a 308win model though. Yes I’m dinging Sig already but it’s track record I’ll always be skeptical of new products like the 320 and mag prices haven’t gone down on them and Glock parts are easier to get too.

That rep wouldn’t know SEAxy if it sat on his face.

  36. Matt Ross on September 18, 2022 at 9:16 pm

I hate brown guns paint it black. I live in the forest and I don’t want to LARP that I’m fighting in the middle east.

  37. SchizoSaint on September 18, 2022 at 9:16 pm

Obviously looks spectacular with everything we know so far, we will see how many of its own operators get shot by it in the coming years 😂

  38. Richard Martel on September 18, 2022 at 9:16 pm

God I hope they release it is a color other than brown

  39. Macaroni Rascal on September 18, 2022 at 9:16 pm

    Nu-sig is so damn lame

  40. Micah Dunleavy on September 18, 2022 at 9:18 pm

To bad you can’t get a damn regular mcx anywhere unless you pay the gouge price on gunbroker. Sig needs to up production, I feel like they like keeping the price on these things ridiculous

  41. Simon To on September 18, 2022 at 9:19 pm

$2499? Please take my money SIG. 🤣
