Trigger Control & Manipulation Techniques with Ronnie Jeffries | Firearms Instructor Series

Trigger Control & Manipulation Techniques with Ronnie Jeffries | Firearms Instructor Series

One of the most important parts of shooting is controlling your trigger. A properly controlled/manipulated finger can help you be a better shooter and make it possible for you to hit targets with greater precision than what might otherwise have been achievable before.

Ronnie Jeffries (Jeffries Firearms Training) offers three modes of finger placement you can use to properly manipulate the trigger:
• Index to fire
• Fire from the wall
• Fire from the wall with positive pressure added

If they had the proper grip it wouldn’t matter what they did with the trigger.

I’ve always equated “reset during recoil” as _proper_ follow-through, which is imperative to trigger control fundamentals. Something I teach in all of my shooting classes. Using SIRT training pistols it is very easy to demonstrate and practice the mechanics, following up with live fire practical application.
    Another great video guys!

  14. Nick Chang on November 19, 2022 at 9:15 pm

So nice to see a video here covering trigger control, which is one of the basics to pistolcraft and vital to shooting accuracy. When I first started shooting as a kid, I couldn’t hit a thing until I learned the concept from someone at the range. That certainly helped me shoot tighter groups consistently.

  23. A.J. Lively on November 19, 2022 at 9:40 pm

You will one day stand before God and answer for everything you have done. How will you do on that day? Here’s a quick test: How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you used God’s name in vain? Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Have you had sex outside of marriage? Have you ever had, or been involved in, an abortion?

Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, fornicating, blasphemer, adulterer at heart, and murderer, and the Bible warns that God will punish you in a terrible place called the lake of fire: Revelation 21:8, AV: "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death."

Yet God, who is "…rich in mercy,…" sent His Son the Lord Jesus Christ to suffer and die on the cross for all guilty sinners. We broke God’s law and the Lord Jesus Christ paid our fine. That means God can legally dismiss our case and He can commute our death sentence. John 3:16, AV: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life."  Then the Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and defeated death.

Please, repent of your sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift: Ephesians 2:8-9, AV: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."

  30. Draven McGee on November 19, 2022 at 9:50 pm

So the only problem I can see with this is if your a new shooter and even then only at the 4th part. The reset with recoil. Cause if a newer shooter with less experience is trying to do that in theory they could discharge the firearm before they could re-establish their site picture. Thus meaning they wouldn’t know what they shot. Just my 2 cents. All around great advice tho

  31. Maximum Jack on November 19, 2022 at 9:53 pm

This is a really effective way to demonstrate the value of trigger preparation. Great communication from the instructor. Keep the high quality videos up.

  32. Jeffrey Hendrix on November 19, 2022 at 9:55 pm

Anyone else notice that near the end of the third round of shooting, most or all of them were firing before the timer? Or am I hearing things wrong?
